    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello everyone,
I'm Whitney from VA and the proud owner of an aproximately 6 month old cb Sulcata, named Kendi from NCE. I am new to tortoises but am actively learning as much as I can about them.
I am very interested in getting a pair of yellow foot tortoises but am seeking some personal experiences with YF prior to begining the search for a pair. My understanding is that the majority of YF adults in the US are wild caught. I am concerned about their adaptability to my climate, specifically during the summer when they would be spending most of their time outside, their humidity requirements and tolerance for temperature. I also am concerned about parasites and the personalities of WC tortoises.
I have read several care sheets on redfoots and yellowfoots but have not found much yellowfoot specific information.
I am not planning on starting my search for a pair until August because I will be spending the month of July in S. America where I hope to see YFs in the wild. This will be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about them and hopefully will give me ideas on how to design an ideal indoor and outdoor habitat for YFs.
I appreciate any tips, links to information and perosnal experiences you may have to share!

I currently only keep a 1.1 group of Yellow Foots but plan on getting more. But my female is my favorite pet I have ever owned. Yes, you are correct about all these adults being wild caught, but I think in a couple more years there will be quite a few Captive bred adults available because more and more captive hatched babies are being produced. So far my female has done great indoors and I am just now starting to build an outdoor enclosure for them and that is when I hope to get more.
Yellow Foots like to be kept wet and they need a lot of humidity.
 
Thanks for the response and many apologies for not responding earlier, I have been out of the country without internet access for the past month and am just getting back to my yellowfoot hunt.
I appreciate you sharing infromation about your yellowfoot pair and am encouraged to hear that your female is your favorite pet. I intend on building an appropriate indoor enclosure over the next few weeks and start the hunt for *hopefully* a captive bred pair and if not, a long term captive pair.
