In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

You are suppose to be a girl

Yesterday I had a huge shock. I was cleaning some cages and temperarly put two of my "girls" in one tub. I figured it was only for a few min. When I went to get her out she was tied with the other girl  Now I admit I have never sexed the "girls" just trusted the seller (I bought 3 girls from her about a year ago). I am taking them in to the vet to get them sexed soon. Ok so I feel like a fool for blindly trusting someone I have never meet.

But what I really wanted to know is how easy it to mis sex babies? Could this be an honest mistake? I doubt I am going to ask for a refund or anything because I have had them for so long and it IS my fault not for getting them sexed right away. I am just  because I really really liked this "girl" and was hoping to get some nice babies from "her".

Oh and one more question. The other female she was in with had tied with my other male, what are the chances she could have babies from this other male (I went to pick "her" up and both tales come up :shrug01: ) Can one snake have babies from more than one male? I put the other male back in with her and I saw them tie again. So big girl has tied with my big boy 2x's and my small "girl"boy once. I really really really don't want my big girl to have babies from the girl/boy as big girl is poss het and big boy is 100% het
and "girl"boy is normal. Dose any of that make any sence?

NOT.

If you are sold a snake and told that it is a male or female, YOU are not responsible for having them subsequently sexed. Unlike the health warranties of varying times offered by sellers, THIS warranty is permanent and the seller owes you a new snake.

After you have fed and cared for the one you had all this time, the seller ought to just send you another snake and not ask for this one in return.

I disagree...well, partially.
While the sex of the animal is not going to change, a buyer SHOULD confirm the sex within a reasonable amount of time.

Now, as to the OP's question about sexing, and possible breeding:
-How easy it is to mis-sex a snake depends on the type of snake, the method used, and the experience/skill of the person in question (and, in some cases, the size of the snake). Depending on the person involved, it could have been an honest mistake...or he/she could have just slipped a male in.

-regarding the possibility of the smaller girl/boy successfully breeding this female, despite her having been with another male...Are you sure that intromission occured? Is it possible that the tails were just wrapped? (Females have been known to "court" and "breed" with other females.) If the little one IS a male, and IS producing sperm, then reproduction is possible IF there were unfertilized ova present. Like with people, sometimes once is all it takes.

They where unmistakenly tied. The girl/boy is about 700+ grams. I have never seen sperm plugs (but I have never seen my other male produce them either. I could be I just overlooking I them or don't know what I am looking at).

The 3 "girls" are ball pythons and where just little babies when I got them.

It is possible for the breeder to have made an honest mistake sexing the male as a female. The breeder would be responsible for replacement if you had notified him/her right away. As you did not~ try this. Write and notify the breeder of the error~ word it something to the effect of you understand you should have checked earlier~ but you felt the breeder should also know now that you do so that he/she could be more cautious in future sexing. IF he/she has the stock and feels bad~ many will volunteer to make it "right for you" by offering some kind of compensation~ monetary or a new animal......if they have the ability to AND the breeder does not feel like it is EXPECTED your more likely to get a kindly and appolegetic response.

I'm sorry you got a mis-sexed snake~ but it really is your responsibility to double check in a timely fashion. Just my Opinion.

I contacted the seller and told them what happened. I also told them up front that I didn't expect a refund or even a new animal in trade. I admitted in my first post it was my responsibility to sex them and should not have just blindly trusted someone, mistakes happen. I have NO hard feeling towards the seller.

Now I have an extra male (that will be confirmed or denied tomorrow) that I don't have plans for. However girl/boy is the sweetest ball in my collection. LOL and she/he is absoutly beautiful. High gold on the sides, eats whatever I offer. A real doll. Well it is now just a waiting game.

My biggest concern was if she/he could actually impregnant my big girl. Now THAT would ruin my week :(

OK it is 110% positive my "girl" is actually a boy. Not only did he probe "deep for a male" he gave us the gift of sperm plugs. (now is where I yell, scream, throw a fit....Ok I feel better now). All This time. I have had him for over a year. Made plans....oh well. Now I have a boy that I have no idea what to do with (except of course to love him). I am going to email the seller. Tell them what I found. IF one male slipped by how many others did (or was I the only lucky one?).

Well, I just thought I would get this off my chest. I know I know it IS my fault for waiting for so long..... Now I just have to PRAY he didn't impregnant my female. Either way this years breeding program to that female just bit the dust. She is poss het but if she produces all normals that wont mean she is not still poss for het becuase this little stud could be the daddy. What a shot in the foot for my 100% het male. Can a snake have eggs fertlized by different dads?

Yes, a snake can have a clutch where some eggs are sired by one father and other eggs are sired by the other father.

I know of several people where this has happened with corn snakes (and in at least one case it was deliberate - but they bred the female to two totally different males, so that the offspring would look distinctive depending on who dad was - I think the female was a snow poss het caramel stripe, one male was a butter and the other male was something like an anerythristic stripe - the ones sired by the butter would be amelanistic, the ones sired by the Anery stripe would be anerythristic) ... and I cannot imagine that it would be any different with royals. The only major difference is the smaller number of eggs a royal is expected to throw.

Here's to hoping that Murphy is kind to you.
