    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

You know what they say about diamonds

Even the ugly ones look nice (until you see a really good one)
These aren't particularly good ones, but I'll try them once before I toss them into my jungle/diamond project. (I've got my eye on some better ones...but if anyone wants to recommend a good breeder, PM me.) The female seems to be going through a bit of a growth spurt, and is shedding again (of course...its the first time I was going to take her picture, lol). They should be ready for the 07 season (2 more years).

I guess you know Anthony Caponetto..he's got some gorgeous carpets!! Looking at his website, the GQ IJs he has are just out of this world!

I am familiar with him (I recommended him to you, lol), but he doesn't do diamonds...or at least he doesn't admit to it.

I don't know, though...I think that the ugly diamond blood might not do this girl justice, lol. This pic is from months ago, she is even better looking now - I guess that means I should take her picture again. (I'm not very good at this fatherhood think, lol)

Come on Harald, even an ugly diamond is better than a cross. :dgrin:
Well, there are some butt ugly crosses out there...I'll grant you that.
My initial plan was to breed the female true, and use the male with my crosses...I won't consider changing that till I see how the babies turn out. (since I also have a male that looks alot like the little girl posted above)

It's funny, the diamonds are a year older, and significantly bigger than the crosses, but their coloring is just starting to come in

The male is about 3 ft, the female is probably 6-8 inches longer

Still little young un's then :) Diamonds are one of the longer of the carpets, correct?

not quite 2yr old.
I believe that diamonds are the longest of the M. spilotes complex (coastals are right up there, though). Most people that keep them would be quick to correct your statement, saying that diamonds are not carpets...and that diamond carpet is a name more correctly applied to the intergrades. I am not up on current taxonomy (it gives me a headache, and is difficult at best to keep up with...especially trying to have the most up to date info. Once upon a time, they were all considered to be the same; but were subsequently broken down into various subspecies: spilota, cheyni, mcdowelli, etc), so I won't go into that, but diamond pythons (M spilota spilota, or M spilotes spilotes, depending on what you read) are the nominate race, and different enough in appearance not to be confused with any of the carpets. I think that a big part of the reason for the attitudes of many that keep them is that they are much less common, and much more expensive than carpet pythons...and they initially proved to be much more difficult to breed in captivity.

Ah do love those Diamonds! One of the best looking snakes there are. Harald if ya ever have a male you want to get rid of keep me in mind..Randy

I decided to resurrect this thread as opposed to starting a new one - I was just roaming through various cages, deciding which pythons were going to get cycled this year, and I came to the diamonds. They're 3.5 yrs old now...my gut tells me that the girl is just about breedable (could be done this season). My gut also tells me it would be best to wait another year. I'm running with that thought. She is a solid 5.5 ft, closer to 6, actually, and her cage is HER cage. Anything that passes through the door gets bitten (once she decides it cannot be eaten, she lets go). Tonite, she bit the hook when I opened the cage. Bit it again when it touched her. I took her out & she behaved marvelously for about 20 minutes while I examined her, and unwrapped her from the chair again and again. She crawled up my left arm as I was cleaning her cage with my right. I put her back in, on one of the perches, so I could cut and replace the paper. When I came back, a whole minute later, she gave me the look. As I started to put the paper in, she prepared to strike. The heck with that, I thought, the paper can wait. I washed and refilled her water bowl, and she bit it as I put it in the cage. Consistency...ya got to give her points for consistency. Guess I'll pull some food for her tonite, so she can bite something softer.

yeah - I know....I suck for not taking new pictures, lol.

Glad to see this thread resurected harald!!

if your still looking around for pure diamonds I would say drop Will Bird an Email sometime he probally has the largest collection of verifiable diamonds in the states now and has animals from 3 different bloodlines if im not mistaken!!
