Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Did I miss something there in the answers to the question in the below post titles: 'looks like another "hot" topic'? Wasn't the original question about the good and bad points of keeping and selling venomous snakes? How on earth did it get to the topic of de-venomizing the snakes and to an analogy of spaying or neutering?<img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>??? It sure seems that someone answered a question other than what was asked without even addressing the original question and almost everyone else followed suit. It was not even as if the conversation gradually shifted away from the original inquiry - but more like someone just had to ad his/her two cents off topic. Have some coutesy to the original poster and at least read the original question and then try to stick with the subject! If you have a need to drastically change the subject why not start a new thread?

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">would like all the hot keepers to give there opinions on the sale of venomoids. the good and bad things about'em and if it should be done.</td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'>
The question was about venomoids and opinions about whether it should be done or not, as well as the good and bad points of keeping hots. I think that most people did stay on topic and were not rude. Yes the discussion did stray somewhat off topic by the comparisons made, but they were just comparisons. We gave our opinions about the venomoid issue and it was equated to people changing animals for thier own convenience, such as the examples cited. With the exception of the post accusing the original poster of being a troll, I personally think the discussion was polite and informative though it would have been nice to have more input from those that actually keep hots.

Yes Glenn, you did miss something. The original inquiry was made into the keeping of venomoid reptiles, that is reptile that have been rendered non venomous through some means, usually surgical removal of the venom glands. It went on to inquire as to whether or not this was a good thing to do (devenomize a reptile)
My post was intended to point out that such a procedure (devenomization) is a practice which alters an animal for the convenience of the owner. I then compared it to spaying and neutering which I went on to say that in my opinion was a procedure to alter an animal for the convenience of the owner.
my point, which I think I made was that if you are not opposed to spaying or neutering than you shouldn't be opposed to devenomizing snakes. Of course not everyone looks on spaying and neutering like I do so that is where some of the arguments come in.
In short, again, yes, you did miss something. The original post was not about keeping and selling venomous snakes. it was about venomoid snakes.
I also agree with Dianne that it would have been interesting to hear from more people who actually keep such reptiles, either hots or venomoids.

That was actually one of the calmest discussions on venomoids I've read. Other than the person accusing the poster of being a troll, I thought everyone was pretty much on topic and courteous. Just my .02, YMMV, IMHO, etc.

I plead ignorance, there it is, sorry about that. I thought it talking about venomous, and did not understand the distinction between that and venomoid. I now see I was off mark. Thanks for the corrections and for the informative posting on one versus the other. I am happy everyone stayed civil - and that I did not upset anyone greatly, I ceretainly did not mean to. Thanks again, another day, another fun fact learned by and old dog. I may not learn new tricks (too old to do tricks) but do learn new stuff every day. Sorry about the confusion, and thanks again.
best regards,
Glenn
