I purchased from Doc several months ago 11 snakes. I got these in 2 different shipments and actually received 12 snakes. Why is this cause one died in transit on the first shipment.

In the course of a couple more months 4 more died. I have never had so much trouble with a group of snakes in my life. I believe it to be that Doc does not feed his babies in the winter. All of the snakes I received from him were back in March. They were all 09s of various hatch dates but all 09s. There ages at that time were anywhere from 5-9 months old. There weights when I received them were anywhere from 5-12 grams. How is it that snakes so old where still so small? The one that died in transit was replaced with yet another sickly snake. Both of them at a 5-9 month age were only 5 grams. Then 2 more just wasted away even though they were eating.

Now the last one that I finally just put to sleep had a lump in his mid section for the last 3 months. Doc at the time of purchase claimed he was giving me a deal. I did not know he was pawning off all of his sickly small snakes on me. Maybe that is how all of his snakes are is sickly and small. I mean really he could not give me exact hatch dates for them just a range to go by. So even if the smallest ones that died at 5 grams were 5 months old why were they only 5 grams. Most snakes hatch out at least that big if not bigger then that.

Then the last snake that I got from him shipped with the replacement died snake was a adult female Butter (het Hypo). She was so small it was scary. Even after egg laying I have never seen a snake so small and sickly in my life. I had to get her on a high protein diet of rats instead of mice to get some weight back on her.

I know it took a long time for this BOI bad guy thread I am sorry for this. I just could not bring myself to bad mouth such a big name in the industry. But after the last one that I finally put out of his misery I could not hold my tongue any longer. The last one was a Goldust Motley (het Stripe) just to give you a idea on the kind of money I spent with him. Just to be so disappointed in my animals.

I for one will never be doing business with Doc again.

First off, you cannot make these accusations without providing some sort of proof, be it photos of the snakes, weight log entries etc. Right now I'm just have to take your word for it that these snakes were as small and sickly as you claim. Not good enough.

Secondly, have you made ReptileDoc aware of this thread? Have you made him aware of the fact that you are an unsatisfied customer? Was there any correspondance between you two? Did you give him a chance to make things right? If so, we need to see all emails and letters between the two of you that are relevant to the thread.

Thirdly, I'm wondering why you got MORE snakes from him in a second shipment when one died in transit in the first shipment, and several others seemed sickly to you? That was your choice, so the way I see it is that you knew full well that you risked getting more sick and underweight snakes (if indeed they were), and thus it was your responsibility to alert the seller that his snakes were sickly and that you wanted a refund, not MORE sick snakes!

Please fill in all the blanks. You are potentially damaging a reputable breeder's reputation, and I think it is in both parties' best interest that you make sure that you have your facts right, and that you make a strong case for yourself.

Doc is a well-known and respected member of CS. Josh, you are not new to Fauna and so should how threads should go. Can you detail what you did to try resolve this before you brought it here?

Really I am not worried about providing proof nor do I care weather anyone believes me or not. I kept my mouth shut for 6 months before I finally got the courage to say something about the matter. I know that he is a reputable breeder. Which is why I did not say anything for 6 months.

I do not have any emails or pms. Sorry it was 6 months ago. I dont keep that kind of records for that long. I do how ever have what I recorded as these snakes weight. But what does that matter what I have recorded. I could of faked that. Even thou I use the Viper software and do all of my recordings on there. If it will really put some peoples minds at rest I can put on here what I have recorded there. But as I said if you can not take my word for it now then what will that matter.

Martin who are you? You have been here on this site for a month less then I have and here you are preaching to me. I dont know you you dont know me and I am sure you have not even done business with this person. I how ever have. I am just warning others of my misfortunes. I feel that this was a good enough reason for a BOI bad guy thread.

I also got a second shipment from him cause he was sending me a replacement snake that died. So I figured I would have him throw in a adult female. I figured I could not go wrong with that deal plus to not have to pay for shipping. But I was wrong. Thank goodness that snake was saveable. If I was looking for some rescue animals I would of went to a shelter. No I wanted quality animals from a reputable breeder. I am sure that I am not the first person that was unhappy with him. I am just the first with the balls to speak up.

I have not told Doc about this thread. If someone is so worried about it then you tell him.

So you have the balls to post accusations but not the balls to do it to Doc's face? You also have no proof, just your word against his. I don't mean to sound rude... I've had poor dealings with people before, but unless I had proof I would have remained silent. Just my thoughts on the matter.

If you don't care whether anyone believes you or not, then why do you bother to post a Bad Guy thread? The whole point of BOI is to warn others about people who you believe have done bad business. You yourself say that you are warning others of your misfortunes in dealing with him, but you do very little to convince anyone that the seller has wronged you. That's pretty irresponsible I'd say.

Look, I'm actually not questioning whether you are being truthful. Everything you said may be true. You're right, I've never done any business with ReptileDoc, and I have little basis upon which to judge his business character (though from what I see on CS.com he is well regarded and contributes a lot to the community). I'm simply challenging the fact that you make very serious accusations without supporting them with any evidence.
Not only are you accusing him of doing you wrong as a customer, but you're also implicitly claiming that he doesn't take care of his animals.

What does it matter who I am? You posted on a public forum and I have a right to express my discomfort with the way you are dealing with your misfortunes. Regardless of how long I've been a member here, I can still tell a good post from a bad one. I'm sorry you feel that I come off as preachy, but I feel that this thread irresponsibly posted.

That is certainly your prerogative, however, you should consider the fact that taking that sort of attitude does not help anyone else. The people you are trying to "save" from making a bad deal don't have any reason to believe you. AND, that sort of attitude is very likely to turn around and bite you on the butt, damaging your own rep far more than your attempt to damage someone else's.

I don't know you....and I don't know "Doc"....so I'm looking at this thread from a completely clean slate. And if you continue down this same belligerent path, then I can tell you now that I'd still consider doing business with "Doc" but I might avoid you in the future.

Poor Darryl. It's not fair that he should have to permanently have a bad guy thread because this person, who's proven time and again to have difficulties with foresight and level-headedness, decided to make a thread. Josh even assuming you did receive sick snakes (and to be honest, coming from ReptileDoc, I doubt you did), you didn't contact Doc about this at all and you've waited 6 months so you're way past anyone's TOS. Six months is also plenty of time for YOU to screw these animals up.

Just to set the record straight here, I never sent you any sick animals and if I had, why would you send me a SECOND payment on a second shipment of additional animals only 7 DAYS after receiving the first batch?
I show that I sent you the first package on March 1st and the second package on March 7th. You contacted me by telephone to let me know that the first batch arrived safely and looked fine with the exception of the one snake that died in transit. I told you I had no explaination for the demise of the one snake but I would replace it to show good faith at no additional charge to you. You agreed to that and then you bought the Butter (Het Hypo) Adult Female which was NOT SICKLY and I threw in the replacement snake when I shipped the Butter. At No Time after receiving either one of these shipments did you contact me to express ANY Problem that you had with Any of the Snakes in either shipment.

Then just a couple months later, I see that you are trying to sell several of the snakes that you bought from me in March. NOW, if they were So Sickly, then why are you trying to unload them on somebody else? I think it may have something to do with This:

Sounds to me like if the snakes ended up dying, it was because You couldn't afford to feed them after You lost your Bartending Job. You sent me Two separate payments initially before I sent the first package because you were paying for the snakes with you Tip Money and couldnt come up with all the money at once. So you sent me a payment on Feb 27th, then another on March 1st then a third on March 7th. The first 2 payments were for the babies in the first shipment and the last payment was for the Butter Het Hypo Adult Female.
You also had several other For Sale Ads running this Spring and Summer in which I saw almost every snake that you had bought from me in March.
Again, why would you be selling a bunch of Sickly Snakes to other people?

I told you that all the babies were from late double clutches and were not as large as the babies that had hatched earlier in the year. They were all feeding fine here just as they did on your end after you received them. You made no mention of Non-Feeders in your complaints. I have no control over you lack of ability to properly care for your snakes or the fact that you lost your job and couldn't afford to feed any of them. I dont know why you are trying to pin this on me. I have sold hundreds of Snakes to other buyers and have never heard this type of nonsense from anyone before. If there truly was a problem, you should have done the responsible thing and contacted me to discuss it. This is the first time I am hearing about any of this.
Hearing this for the first time on the BOI after being listed as a BAD GUY is not only Cowardly but Utterly Ridiculous.

Josh, I think you've seriously done some harm to yourself here. The babies in all of those pictures look healthy to me, the female doesn't look thin or sickly like you said. I for one will never do business with you or recommend you to anyone. I cannot believe you tried pasting a Bad Guy title on Doc because of your own misfortunes and could have seriously tarnished his reputation if someone (you didn't even have the guts to notify him yourself) hadn't pointed this thread out to Doc. You should be very ashamed of yourself!

Doc... You I would recommend and do business with. If anything this thread has shown me that you're a pretty Good Guy and I hope anyone who reads it will see the same thing!

Besides the adult Butter could someone post the breakdown of morphs and sexes that were purchased? Including the DOA in the first shipment.

I purchased a few snakes from Doc earlier this year, all '09s, normal size for their age and very healthy. The entire sale was not only handled very professionally and Doc took the time for follow-up communication to confirm the snakes were doing well after they arrived. He also offered to help with any questions I might have in the future regarding any of my snakes, not just the ones I bought from him.

I will certainly do business with Doc in the future and would highly recommend him to anyone looking to purchase high quality animals from a reputable-caring breeder.

IMO you dont post a BAD GUY thread 6 months after this goes down, you post it 6 months after because a. your broke or b. you screwed up yourself in eithercase your looking for somone to blame or to pay you something...you get defensive about proof...i would have taken pics right out of the box if i saw problems...then the eviiil seller gets on and not only does he sound a hell of alot more convincing, HE brings Proof againt you. ^think the Doc should stand 'exonerated' on this one. sry if my sp sux im tweaking out on expressos...
