In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....
The same reason was given to me years ago for the business to business clause so it was not her rep pulling answers out of a hat. I agree with your reasoning though which also makes the SYR claim of 10:30 delivery guaranteed a bit suspicious because Fed Ex is not going to refund the shipping and I doubt SYR will be footing the bill either.

I am not defending SYR here, I really wouldn't think of doing that for any reason even if I could. I am defending Fedex here though. Fedex has more than one over night shipping method. Over Night Priority (which is all I ever used) is guaranteed to arrive by 10:30 am to most locations, providing there are no delays, for whatever reason. However, if you are shipping to a location that is a rural area, off the beaten path, they will not guarantee it by 10:30 even when using Over Night Priority. When you are making your shipping arrangements, and you see that it isn't in a location for the 10:30 delivery time, you should call and ask what the delivery time is for that location, they will give you that information. No over night service has ever guaranteed live arrival that I am aware of.

Not "completely." They do have a time period where they will keep attempting if the shipper asks for a signature, or the package has to sit in the facilities until someone picks it up. This is additional work compared to the packages that can be left at a business with someone's signature.

In my experiences if no one is there for the first attempt, the package goes back on the truck, and the driver will make one more attempt later in the day. If no one is there for the second attempt, the package goes back to the distribution center for either customer pick up, or another attempt the following day. If someone is dumb enough not to be there when their package arrives, when they know it's coming, they probably shouldn't be caring for an animal anyway. If they can't be there for it when it arrives, they probably won't take care of it when they do get it.

Robyn seems to be currently be viewing this thread. Perhaps he could clear up the residential piece and the 10:30 guarantee piece to those of us who don't take his word as Gospel. Course, he did sort-of demean us on that other site, so maybe he's just taking names???

I understand what you are saying, my point is: It's EXTRA work as far as FedEx is concerned and they don't want to be bothered doing that with LIVE packages.

Robyn made it clear what he think's of this site, and by disrespecting this site, he also disrespects the people who support this site.

To be honest, most of the things Robyn says have no merit to them anyway. He throws out numbers, statistics, odds, success rates, and so on. The trouble is, he does show any documentation to back up his claims. If you go to his web site, and you see a great claim about this, and a great claim about that, well folks, that's called advertisement. Doesn't mean it's true. He's just trying to get you to buy into it. If you buy into it and use the service, he makes money off of you, plain and simple, and to be honest, that is all he cares about. If you think he's doing this for the community, you better guess again. If the numbers he has posted about his claims as to the number of packages that people have shipped through their service on an annual basis, they are profiting a six digit figure that is more than likely over 200,000 annually.

Robyn is also one of those people who doesn't handle opposition very well. He would rather run than face the opposition. He lets his frustration get the best of him.

He will post on a site that has less than 1900 members, and I did notice him posting on bp.net, and they have around 19,000 members, but a site like this that has 70,000 members he can't handle. What he fails to understand is that with more members there will be more opinions. So he chooses the easy way out by posting on sites that have smaller member bases. Hey whatever, I don't care, I would never use his service anyway.

I"ve pretty much avoided commenting since Robyn decided not to participate here, but I will add this comment:
I'm not sure why people seem to be fussing about the 10:30 guarantee - that is FedEx's default for Priority, not a time SYR pulled out of thin air. As Brian mentioned, not all areas get Priority delivery by 10:30....and if you don't now, you won't with SYR. As far as the comment about SYR "not footing the bill either", I'm certainly not in a position to speak for them (or their long term plans); but quite a few people received refunds when UPS didn't make it. I can't say whether it was the difference between Next Day and Next Saver, or a full refund, but SYR did step up to the plate for their customers.

And - just a note to the participants, I know this thread hasn't been the typical BOI thread (I'm not sure if this is the one that was moved from the shipping forum, or not)...but let's try to keep the discussion pertinent to SYR. Individuals wanting to discuss the process of getting a reptile shipping waiver should take their questions/comments to the Shipping discussion forum or contact people via PM.

I fixed it. It should have said, he does not show any documentation to back up his claims.

is it up to the shipper to know if where he is shipping is a resident or business. i havent bought anything in a while but the last snakes i purchased came from florida, and the seller couldnt ship them to me because i was in a residential area according to fed ex, which lead me to believe that fed ex determines what areas the consider to be business or residential. i could be totally wrong but it seems to me it would be up to fed ex to tell the shipper that its business or residential.

The online booking tells a person what the address is classified as.. business or residential. However, there are exceptions to that due to the way the zones are classified.. sometimes legit business addresses are in a zone classified as residential and vice versa.

Congratulations SYR is all I can say at this point to Chad and Robin. We just heard back from our FedEx reps and it does look like they pulled this one off. I will have more info after our meeting with FedEx tomorrow. I said I would be the first to congratulate SYR. Chad and Robin congratulations you pulled off what RE was told is impossible. This should get very interesting!

Well, if it's legit (I haven't heard yet myself), good luck to them. It still worries me, but if it's true it's moot at this point...But in the meantime, I'm going to push for residential delivery on my account. ;)

That coming from you made me giggle...

I'm not sure why people seem to be fussing about the 10:30 guarantee - that is FedEx's default for Priority, not a time SYR pulled out of thin air.

My point to this is one of the points to the waiver is "Company agrees to waive any right to receive adjustments, refunds or credits under the Money Back Guarantee Policy as defined in the Fed Ex Service Guide in effect at the time of shipment". I don't see Fed Ex letting go of this for anyone. Even if you are a mile from the hub and it is delivered late I don't see Fed Ex refunding the shipping fees on an animal account.

I've done it in the past with no luck.

The reason they will give you should make for some lively discussion.

The point is if they're going to allow uncertified people to ship residential, the same should be provided to those that are certified. At this point it's still up in the air. I won't start pushing until I get confirmation from FedEx.

:iagree: Fair is fair! I've already contacted my representative (he's out of office) by e-mail. I am waiting for an answer, and will share when it arrives.

If FedEx allows a skeezy third party to have residential delivery and not the actual certified users, I foresee a poop-storm.

Could be, and would probably be a good thing. The way I see it, Fedex would be taking the first poop, and that is on the loyal, certified shipping customers, who went through the process that they already have. I think the more people who complain to Fedex, the better.
