If someone did this they might be afraid to admit it here. They might be afraid that some of the people posting in this thread would call Fed Ex and report them.
And Kevin... if you are shipping to a residential address you are breaking the terms of service of Fed Ex. It does not matter if you, or the person you ship to is a registered business or not. It is against Fed Ex TOS to ship to any residential addresses, period.
Yeah.....
A lot of people who've bloviated in the past about SYR, RE, UPS and have stood on the soap box beating their chests and rending their hair about other people potentially ruining their shipping privileges ship residential. That also goes for the proper labeling procedures........I have not exactly seen across the board adherence to that either.
How do I know? I've does business with them. They've sold me some real nice animals, packed 'em up real spiffy-like and they've never done me wrong, but if we're talking percentages here, I'd say in the last three years the only person I've done business with who refuses to ship residential and labels correctly is one - Jeff Mohr - and no one has ever asked if my home address is a viable business address.
I'm talking in excess of 15 certifiable good guys here and many more who are fairly well known in the trade. So if the new criteria for being a good and honorable business man is adhering to all of Fed Ex's rules and not pissing in the punch bowl - most people ain't gonna make the cut.
I figure if Fed Ex was really up on the ball, everyone who has shipped to me in the past with the exception of one or two individuals was not adhering to the rules.
Hell, I figure if we really wanted to stir the pot around here, why don't we ask customers of some of the more opinionated people here if they've ever received a Fed Ex shipment to their residential address or better yet, if the box was labeled correctly.
Having said that, getting Fed Ex certified is ridiculously easy and even factoring in Delta Dash, it's the last convenient option open to us. I have no faith in either PE or Fed Ex to deal with potential issues if they come up. Rationally, I'd like to think that PE is able to transfer liability to the person who uses their services. On the same token, I'd like to think that if something goes wrong here, Fed Ex is hip enough to leave all the, ahem,
rule abiding individually certified shippers alone.
