• In the past two days I have gotten emails asking about being requested to provide credit card info in order to register and also to make a post in the classifieds forums. PLEASE NOTE: In no instance will this site ask you for this sort of information. The only time any request for payment is made is if you choose to opt-in for a higher membership level, and that is done SOLELY through PayPal. Anything else is coming from a source other than this site. My guess is that this is coming through Google Adsense, but when I can get someone to send me a screen shot of this sort of request, I will know more.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

As there is no documentation proving this girl is from the same clutch that I proved out, I do not feel comfortable having my animals as an endorsement of her genes.

I'm pretty sure I know the genetics on this girl since I produced her AND the 1.1 pair (that were her clutch mates) that you now have. :rolleyes:

Regardless, just like mistakes can happen, missexed snakes, mixed up snakes, genetics that don't prove out....

So...nevertheless, how the genetics work has not been proven. IMO, until your girl is proven, she's just a normal.:shrug01:

Trying to stay out of this, since I know both of you...but I have to say that I wouldn't consider the genetics known at this point.
Yes, Deborah produced 2 unusual babies from a pair of Casper's kids; but does that prove it is a recessive trait? What if she repeats the breeding this year, and gets all normals? Or, she get's unusual looking babies that aren't similar to the ones produced last year? When I first saw Casper, and was initially tossing around the idea of purchasing him, I gave a good deal of thought to the process of proving out a morph - even made a post about it. It really is a process; and not always something that can be defined with a couple of pairings.

Steve, I know how excited you were about Casper...and that you kicked yourself for letting the babies go (especially after Deborah got those two from them). Things happen, though; and I think if you were watching this play out as an outsider, you would say these same things. I'm actually kind of surprised that the two of you didn't work out some arrangement for you to send that girl to Deborah on a breeding loan (I say it that way, vs her sending the male to you, because she has the pair and will likely be repeating the breeding)...adding her to the mix would have helped the proving process, and I think Deborah would have been reasonable with the terms.
I really hate seeing the two of you digging at each other like this.
 
We had discussed me sending the female to her to breed to the male sib she has to see if it is a het. Maybe Casper was a super form of a dominant. Lots of questions still remaining but I am going a different way with this now. I want to see if there is any effect on existing morphs and int he future combos since Caspers babies hatched out with a particular look to them. No babies will be sold from this clutch. I plan on dinking around with these for some time. I did not appreciate the insinuation that I was lying about this girl being the sib to her pair. I know EXACTLY who this girl is. She was the first of the clutch to hatch and it was on my daughters birthday.
 
And.....I did not post the photos to market anything. I posted them because someone asked what a Lentigo looked like.

Should you be extempt from the accepted rule that until an animal is proved out, it's a Normal?:shrug01:

I really am not "digging" at him, however, we would have jumped on anyone attempting to do what he's currently attempting to do by labeling that girl a HET Lentigo.:NoNo: Her genetics are not proven.
 
This animals brother and sister were bred together and hatched Lentigos.
Those 2 animals and this one were sired by Casper.
I don't think there is anything wrong with me calling her a het when I am not marketing her. I used it as a term to describe her.
You are really nit picking here.
This is not a sales thread. And if she was nothing but a normal why would you send me this in a PM about her?

I'm done. The whole purpose of this thread was to post a photo of a gravid girl. I am not selling anything.
Don't worry Deb, your project will not be affected by me because I am NOT selling anything labeled Lentigo or het Lentigo or pink and purple polka dotted!

To keep control of the project. :rolleyes: So it can be done the right way and not have stuff floating out there, in case you later decided to sell.

Sorry, Steve...no offense...but you don't exactly have a reputation for holding on to animals for very long.:shrug01:

It's too late for you to take control of the project anyway. There was another clutch from Casper and that was sold off as normals so there is stuff floating around out there but only your animals and mine can be traced. The others lost any way of being tied back to Casper.

And for the record. The second clutch was produced by someone else using Casper so you can't pin the blame on me for wrecking your project because there are other animals out there.

This whole thread has gone out of control.

Sorry, just trying to lighten the mood. It sucks seeing you guys at odds over a really neat project that you BOTH have stake in. I would just relax a bit, continue to work on it and share results, and see what happens. Enjoy the process and don't get too worked up about names/titles, in EITHER direction (overlabeling OR underlabeling).

Sometimes genetics are really screwy. I was talking to Rich Macias about his genetic banded line, as I followed it back in the beginning when he first proved it was inheritable and just started discussing it with him again since I wanted to see how it would work with my GRP male. It has been about 6-7 years and he still has no idea how it works. The "mudslide" mother is SEVERELY reduced and has a creamy coffee color with a solid burgundy back (like a black back just really red). When bred to a normal, the babies all come out with normal black and brown coloration, although some of them have nice banded patterns (although nothing like the mother). When these nice banded babies are bred together, they create even more extremely reduced pattern animals with black backs -- but still not the same coloration as the mother. So he can't figure out whether it is a recessive trait, a co-dominant/dominant trait, or something like the Platty Daddy complex where it is co-dom/dom, but the final form is still missing something to make it complete. Sometimes we just have to roll with it and keep plugging away. I wish all genetic morphs could be black and white. But then ball pythons would just be boring, because I think a huge part of the attraction to them is the fun of playing Mad Scientist. :dgrin:
