In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Rodney Boalich of Clearfield, PA. "Purple retic guy"

Pinworms or protozoa are often a culprit in this. The extremely small size of the bowel movement that caused this would seem to be more indicative of that than him being previously overfed, but who knows. Hopefully his meds will clear it up.

i hope everyting clears up for him. small, spaced out feedings for a little while.

we just a nasty nasty cloacal prolapse at my clinic over the weekend. it was from the keeper feeding to big of a prey item to a bal python, and not having enough access to moisture/water. it gets to dry up in the intestinal tract, and they try to hard to push it out, and there is your prolapse.

good luck

hopefully all aspects of this issue will get resolved

I'm not trying be rude... But, are you a vet? You are stating your opinion.... Which no one gives two turds about. We want facts. Facts about the issue at hand... Not what you think may have caused it or what your opinion is about the seller. The BOI is a place for facts... People misconstrue that so much.

You know what? We get it... You aren't happy. Now keep those thoughts to yourself and lets get on with the facts.

For instance. It's a fact that once an animal prolapses that there is a VERY high chance that it will happen again. You knew the animal had prolapsed once... It seems you also knew that the animal may arrive with mites. Neither of these issues stopped you from purchasing the animal. So please explain how that's the sellers fault? You purchased the animal willingly, knowing all these things. Your fault[PERIOD]

You should have done what he offered and just had the animal replaced. Once the animal isn't in your care it is no longer your problem to worry about. You seem to be CHOOSING to keep the animal, which means you must want to be responsible for the upcoming vet bills to boot.

By all means if I am wrong about any of this I can assure you I'll be the first to apologize.... but from what I've read and seen, this is spot on.

BTW - I hope that little retic pulls through!

i think he is referring to the seller telling him he didnt know and that he had received in two snakes that had mites or may have had them. with that said there is the potential for any animal to have mites

i will go back and read the facebook correspondence again, though.

Either way it doesn't change the fact that the buyer knew about the prolapse. And now is making claims like "He probably pushed it back in the week before he shipped him to me". That's uncalled for (bottom line). What the buyer needs to understand is that NO ONE, not even a vet can tell you when the next time an already prolapsed reptile will prolapse again. It could be the next time it feeds or 10 years down the road... and he's making accusations that have no place on the BOI.

You really are having a hard time at following this entire conversation, as each one of your replies here indicates. I didn't know it had mites when I bought it. This facebook convo occurred after I got home with the snake.

Second off, the vet I took it to this morning told me that it is more than likely protozoa or worms based on the very small size of the bowel movement that caused this prolapse. So no, these aren't just my thoughts- they are of a licensed reptile veterinarian- thanks for asking.

As far as keeping the animal, yes I am certainly going to keep it because it obviously was under poor care and management prior to my ownership. Had the snake been properly cared for by the breeder, it wouldn't have had any of these problems to begin with, hence this BOI posting.

Would I go back and buy the snake again had I known the extent of its problems? No, of course not. Should that snake have even been brought to a reptile expo by a breeder to sell? No, of course not. I am glad that I am going to be able to take care of a poorly treated snake? Yes. Should other people be warned about this guy and take their business elsewhere? Definitely.

Your right, I shouldn't make accusations. It has already been established via screenshots that this guy will withhold information on animals that he sells.

maybe im just interpreting this wrong, but mites and prolapse were historically known (although, apprently not until after receiving the animal) from the seller.

mites are an easy fix, annoying but easy. the prolapse is where things can get tricky. once they prolapse, their odds of prolapsing at any point in the future, increases dramatically (especially a full cloacal prolapse such as that, partial prolapses are more forgiving, both short term and long term). im thinkin i would have sent that animal back, since there was a history of that (if i recall correctly) ??

Either the way you typed it or the way the vet said it still means the "worm" theory is an opinion. Stated plainly by you here: "Second off, the vet I took it to this morning told me that it is more than likely protozoa or worms based on the very small size of the bowel movement that caused this prolapse."

More than likely = opinion... Not fact.

Did the vet do a fecal sample? Or just make that observation without any testing? Fecal sample can be tested inside of 15 minutes and you usually know the results before you ever leave the office.

Do you have a receipt you can post here? Preferably one that shows what the vet states is the issue with the animal and what test's were run on the animal.

ok but after reading your last few statements it wasnt proven that worms or protozoa did it the vet said its likely to have caused it but yet no test results to prove that "fact" i wont argue with you about the snakes conditions or poor health upon receiving the animal but i will argue when a vet says something that likely caused something but there is no guarantee that it was worms or protozoa or whatever

I have a receipt, however all it says is snake exam and tube-fed deworming on it. As I stated above, I didn't bring a sample in with me as they didn't ask and I didn't know. If it happens again it would be unlikely to find anything since he took this medication although I will still bring a sample. He also went into a bad shed when I got him. Even though he soaked in his water dish for days due to the mites his shed was still bad and required assistance. His humidity levels have been nominal throughout my ownership of him.

I was moreso discussing possibilities of whats going on with my snake, not making accusations. It has already been established that this snake was in poor condition prior to my ownership.

I will take my concerns and health questions to other forums so that people will not misconstrue what I say, thanks for the replies everyone.

in my experience as an "exotics veterinary technician" that only about 5-8% of prolapses (that i have dealt with) are caused by parasites. about 90% are due to the combination of feeding too large prey with not enough moisture available for at least a period of time

We are just trying to get to the bottom of this. You have lit a fire you can't put out now have you?

Health questions??? Where?

Concerns. You seem to be more concerned with bashing the seller than coming up with facts.

Have a nice day.

i just txted rodney. he is at work right now. he will post when he gets home
