Hamburg, PA reptile show today?

Reading is a great up an coming show with alot of great potential. I love attending there for a million different reasons. I think if Hamburg vendors, or any vendor for that matter would atleast give it a shot, I think they would realize the potential it has and enjoy the amenities it has to offer.

I think as far as size goes, I dont think it is as small as one may think. It is such a huge building, and the vendors are spaced out along with the extra wide aisle ways, and bright lighting, I think it just looks small.

There are many buyers that no longer attend hamburg since Reading has come along. Once the other vendors start going the buyers will keep switching.

I just dont get why people dont want better for their business.

Anyone that has done both shows, has to admit that atleast 75% of the patrons that attend Reading are faces that you dont see at Hamburg.

Well to be fair it's difficult to see faces at Hamburg since its so massively over crowded.

The last time I attended the Reading show (early fall sometime) it was really small. I hope that it gets better because it is MUCH closer to me.

Between the show you attended and the one after there was a huge jump in attendees and vendors, this next show will have more vendors from what the promoter says. The promoter has been doing a lot of ...well... promoting on radio, magazines, etc. to get the word out there about the show and from what I've seen it's paying off! We have vended the last 2 shows and love it, we do better at that show then the bigger shows near us, not to knock either of those shows, but for us to drive 3 hours to a show and do better then a show that's 15 minutes from us is kinda crazy!

Absolutely! I think once more vendors attend it will fill out more and won't be so spaced apart, I actually know someone who thought the show in Havre De Grace Maryland was bigger then Reading due to the fact that its a smaller place and fills out more, but you have to take into account that Reading is a very massive building and can hold MANY more vendors and attendees then most of the other shows.

Also you have to remember summer is coming... Hamburg in the summer... NOT FUN! Not only is it crowded beyond belief but you have people sweating on you...nasty! Reading on the other hand is climate controlled, good for you, good for the animals.

It was my first show, I wont be going back there unless the rest suck. I plan on going to an Oakes show, ...

if you are talking of Oaks show- being in a rather new arena kinda close to KOP- that one was rather small as well. BUT I do think once more venders go, it will be nicer. Heck, its nicer, just don;t have a lot of venders as Hamburg. The reading show seemed a bit nicer the last time we went.

Yeah, this last hamburg was packed! The trick to moving around is to be more of an aggressive walker- not pushing people or anything- just gotta walk before the people coming the other way start stampeding by, or else then you'll be waiting... lol.

how about the people that just randomly stop in the middle of the aisle? or the older person who looks lost...and wont move out of the way...

I have never been lost at Hamburg...I might have been trying to remember where I saw a particular animal on my first pass, or mentally running through the list of things people wanted me to look for - and heck no I'm not moving, I battled the crowd to get to that spot, it's mine until I vacate it.
BTW, "older" isn't much of a euphemism - I know I'm old...I might not exactly accept it, but there's nothing I can do about it.

Harald,

i wasnt talking about you at all.... lol. ;)

I literally remembered one time there was someone the age of my grandfather who literally stood there with a confused look on his face, took 2 steps, stopped, took 2 more.... stopped.... If peopel are stopped at the table, then that is another story, just in the middle of the aisle? for no apparent reason?

I cant saYi I never done this, but i moved out of the way.

But in all seriousness, this stuff is expected to happen in busy places. So if you did truely take offence to anythign I said, it was meant to take with a funny tone. ;) Now, I can be misreading your tone....

And I don't consider you old. ;)

I took absolutely no offense to your post, Janet...just having a little fun.

Went to Hamburg on 4/30... was overly excited... drove 6+ hours there and 6+ hours back... it wasn't what I expected it to be... was more crowded of course and had more vendors than Manassas... but Everyone had pretty much the same balls... spiders, pastels, bees, etc... nothing out of the ordinary and no "wow" factor for me.. Missed out on a nice Pied that wasnt there our first few trips around.. but appeared as we were leaving and was already spoken for :(

We will not be attending the next one at Hamburg.
