    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry Shipnex (anyone used them?)

2. Unacceptable Shipments
Shipper agrees that its Shipment is acceptable for transportation and is deemed unacceptable if:
• It is classified as hazardous material, dangerous goods, prohibited or restricted articles by IATA (International Air Transport Association), ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization), any applicable government department or other relevant organization;
• No customs declaration is made when required by applicable customs regulations; or
• NEX decides it cannot transport an item safely or legally (such items include but are not limited to: animals, bullion, currency, bearer form negotiable instruments, precious metals and stones, firearms, parts thereof and ammunition, human remains, pornography and illegal narcotics/drugs).

In doing some looking, it appears that NEX simply distributes packages to a variety of third party carriers...doesn't seem that they are an actual shipping company, but something more along the lines of an SYR or RE (without the qualifying waiver or allowance to ship reptiles, of course).

Shipnex uses fed ex on all their overnight packages. They may use a number of carriers for ground shipments.

I'm not going to get involved in "what's allowed/what's not". But I receive a few packages a month from people who use them - never had an issue.
 
I contacted them after someone recommended them to me for snake shipping. After repeatedly asking them if they had approved with Fed Ex to ship snakes they told me they do not. You have to read the messages from bottom to top.

It isn't a live animal it is a live snake and fed ex requires specific approval to ship snakes. Since I would be basically shipping under your account you would need to you have written approval from fed ex to ship snakes. Do you?

I have gotten packages from a person who used shipnex that came UPS next day air as well as FedEx overnight.
 
Okay so I have shipped numerous packages with Shipnex after it was recommended to me. I have not yet had any issues. I will say that the last shipment I sent with them (Yesterday) it was a UPS driver that showed up instead of the usual FedEx. I began to wonder what was going on so I gave them a call. The answer I got was their server was having issues so it "automatically" changes to UPS. It is usually FedEx, unless they are having issues. The part that got me was that they didn't make it obvious for everyone to know. I was completely shocked when I opened the door to see UPS. I am not saying that it isn't posted somewhere on the sight, but they definitely don't throw it in your face before checkout.

I never thought to look and see if I was actually permitted to ship reptiles with them. Being that someone who I was seeing ship alot of animals referred them to me.

Shipnex

I was called and solicited a few months ago by a man stating he was the owner of "Shipnex" and could offer us 40-50% better rated than we were currenty paying through FedEx and UPS. I was very sceptical to say the least and was the reason I started this thread. As everyone knows in this business shipping prices have skyrocketed over the last 10 years and since we don't sell at shows it's our only means of suppling reptiles to our customers. Like the old saying goes "if it sounds to good to be true it probobly isn't. We will stick with our old accounts.

Tad - I have never had a problem. I shipped a package that would have been $159 fedex thru ship nex for $75.67. I've talked to ship nex and the animals they are referring to are mammals, not reptiles.
 
I've received shipments from them a couple of times. The one thing that I've noticed that could be a problem is that the arrival time is usually in the shippers time zone. For instance, if I'm receiving from California I'll generally receive the shipment by 1130 Central instead of 1030....I've also had shipments arrive at 0930 that shipped from the east coast. While it's not that big of a deal...it's something to think about.
