• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Just chill, answer everyone's questions then I'm sure the sales will follow

Do as I say not as I do, eh?

I'm pretty sure that while everyone's opinion is quite valuable, at least to themselves, no one here asked for anyone's opinion.

We all get to decide for ourselves what is and is not BOI worthy.

You may disagree with the OP but that does in no way negate her feelings or motivation for starting this thread, nor anyone else's on any other thread.

Well, I suggest you study a little bit about what constitutes a contract. Then it should become clearer.

I'm not sure what your point is here, since, in my business law course I took not too long ago, I was taught, a verbal agreement or email/text agreement between parties IS IN-FACT considered a "contract" between two parties. (And this is coming from someone who has literally "studied" quite a bit about contracts).

The six requirements of a legally valid contract:
1. An agreement which usually consists of an offer and an acceptance of that offer. She offered me rats, I accepted
2. The agreement must have consideration which is something bargained for and given in exchange for a promise. If I were to take the rats, I'd also have to agree to take males, which I did.
3. The parties must have the capacity, or legal ability to contract. IE can't be drunk, a minor, etc
4. The contract must be based on the genuine assent of each party, that is, both parties must be agreeable to the terms of the contract. We both agreed to me getting the rats, and I agreed to take males
5. The subject matter of the contract must be legal. An agreement to break the law would be illegal, for example.Obviously legal
6. Some contracts must be in proper form. Even though courts will enforce an oral contract, some categories of contracts must be in writing to be legal.
An example of this would be
"Statue of Frauds requires that all Real Estate contracts with the exception of a residential lease lasting less then 3 years must be in writing."

You don't need a signed piece of paper to have a "contract".

I've also defended an "email agreement" under the terms that it was a contract before, and I won. Not having to take it to court, I was just paid the money I was owed after I sent a very well written letter of intention of suing (which I would have won anyway, said my legal counsel).

Additionally, we had a Bilaterial contract.
"Both parties to a bilateral contract make promises. With respect to the promise in issue, the party making the promise is the promisor and the other party is the promisee. The legal detriment incurred by the promisee consists of a different promise by him or her to do something or refrain from doing something that he or she was not previously "

Not that I intend to sue anyone over some rats, but please don't insult mine, or anyone elses intelligence.

Again, if you don't agree it should be here, kindly step away and read something else. There is a slew of other topics you can join if you'd like.

My mind is made up, and even if it wasn't me posting this thread, I would still appreciate seeing information like this.

Sorry, there was no consideration. Where is the value in the consideration? If you did study law, you would know that consideration must have a value. I am fully aware of what is needed for a contract and there was very little of it here.

"Consideration is the concept of legal value in connection with contracts. It is anything of value promised to another when making a contract. It can take the form of money, physical objects, services, promised actions..."

She promised to give me the rats IF I TOOK MALES

Some people just like to argue...
Don't worry about it and thanks again for the heads up.

Good luck!

It sounds like she got mad because you tried to overcharge her for the rats. She should have let you know the moment she decided not to give them to you though.

You're funny. There is value in that statement? I don't think that would hold up anywhere.

Anyway, the ONLY reason I've taken a position in this thread is because I've seen so many threads started where no money was taken, no deal was completed and no one was ripped off and I'm tired of seeing this forum delegated to whining and complaining about simple deals that just didn't go through. This in my mind, was a classic thread where there was no real reason to start a bad guy thread. Sorry, that my frustration showed through on this thread. It could have happened on several others.

A seller said I have a product to sell. A buyer said I want it and will trade you something for it. The buyer never came through. So what? No one was ripped off. No one was out anything but a little bit of time. No one lost thousands of dollars because a fraud was committed. Why waste this valuable resource on petty stuff?

There was no fraud. There was no money lost. There was no real harm.

You're the one who said "value", though, the definition I posted (an actual quote) did not state "value".

Either way, there is nothing in the rules of this board, that states my post does not belong here.

If there is and I misread, please QUOTE it for me.

If not, and these posts annoy you so much, why do you bother wasting your time responding to them...?

(BAD GUY) "someone or some business that likely should be avoided. Provide FACTS supporting this opinion. Proof is not needed, but will certainly help support your claim."

Nowhere did I read that you had to LOSE MONEY, in order to post here.

The thing that I'm glad to know about is not that she agreed to give you rats, then backed out.... nor that she failed to tell you the deal was off(although that was pretty sorry of her)... but the 180 in attitude she took.

She decided to give away the rats. When SHE changed her mind, SHE suddenly acted as if you were scamming her to take the free rats SHE was offering. Then she also acted as if the price for the ASF was suddenly too high, the hairless mice price was too high, etc etc. I don't like dealing with people with that sort of attitude.

Was it really BOI worthy? I don't particularly think so, it's a minor thing to be out some time(a few hours really... since you already knew it wouldn't be until "after the game") and some annoyance because of her childish behavior... but it does follow the rules of the BOI. If readers feel you're petty to have posted a failed deal where you were only out a few hours of time, then they can choose not to deal with you over the BOI you posted on someone else. That's their choice too.

The dickering over where LEGALLY it constitutes a deal, contract, agreement, value... that's petty and makes me not really want to deal with those types either. Just saying. Responding to threads also puts everyone up for readers to decide on that behavior, just as much as they would decide on the OP for their own postings and behavior. Whether the OP had a legal contract to take to court to win a lawsuit has NO bearing on whether she is allowed to post a thread.

Someone around here is negative karma happy. Thanks for that:thumbsup: whoever you are. I was never saying someones opinion wasn't as valuable as my own...actually, I had said a time or two that I would have to agree to disagree with others. Either way whoever you are, keep giving people negative karma because they don't agree with YOU. That makes good sense:yesnod:

I am just fine with someone not agreeing with me. I will definitely stick to my guns when I feel a particular way.

I couldn't agree more with whoever said that this isn't the spot for us to say whether this belongs here or not. This is a fact. I see a warning more or less.

Enough with the debate about the validity of the thread. I don't know what anyone thinks it will accomplish, the thread is here and it's not going anywhere. Every user has the freedom to choose what THEY think is BOI worthy, regardless of what anyone else thinks.
Endless debate and back and forth, insisting it doesn't belong here is pointless and only fills the thread with useless arguing.
The horse is dead, quit beating it.
