In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

This thread is simply a warning to any and all about Doc Walker's hatchlings.

I entered a raffle for donations to ProExotics. There were a grand total of 23 hatchlings that could be won. When this raffle ended, I had won 9 snakes. Goes to show kinda how many tickets I had bought :)

6 of my 9 were going to be coming from Doc Walker. I was pretty excited because I had won and the snakes he had donated sounded like they had awesome hets.

He shipped them to me on Monday November 7th. I received them at noon on tuesday at around noon. After opening the box and setting them up to start to warm up, I e-mailed Doc and let him know that the hatchlings were here and all had arrived alive and safe. I say alive because I live in Wisconsin and in November... Well, both Doc Walker and I were abit worried about the weather.
A few hours later, I went to actually set them up in their quarentine tubs. (earlier I had just set them to warm up) and I noticed that they were very small and felt kinda mushy. I e-mailed Doc that evening about supper time and asked him about hatch dates and feeding schedule. He got back to me later that night and told me that they were hatched between the begining to the middle of August and all had eaten between 8 to 10 times. I did e-mail him about the dates and feeds because it didnt sound just right to me and he did e-mail back that they were fed about every 7 to 10 days. Also, at this time he informed me to wait a few days to feed. Which I did do. I went to feed the quarintine babies on November 12th. I found 2 of the babies from Doc had passed away. I e-mailed him to inform him what had happened and to see if he may have any ideas as to what may have gone wrong. I also asked at this time why they were so small and felt mushy. If maybe there had been a mistake about hatch dates or feeds. I was told no, there were no mistakes and he was very sorry to hear about this happening and asked if I would like him to refund the shipping fees that I had paid. I thanked him for that and told him that I would let him know how the rest did.
On November 12th I did offer food to the other 4 of his babies. 2 of them ate but 2 refused and seemed very lathargic. Water has always been offered and available to them. (of course)
I got an e-mail today from Doc letting me know that he had sent the shipping fees back and sounding very grumpy towards me. Telling me how no good deed goes unpunished and how he was now out the shipping fees and the babies too. I informed him that I dont ship but if he could find a way, he could surely have his remaining babies back and thanked him once again for volunteering to pay me back for the shipping fees.
I tried to remain nice and polite during all e-mails with him. All I ever asked for was help. He gave me none. Just returned the shipping fees along with a side dish of guilt.
Today, November 15th.... 2 more babies died. I now have left 2 that are mismatched as a pair.

I offer this thread as a warning. In my words and in my opinion. I dont think Doc Walker is a true "bad guy" and I didnt want that on his record but I do want people to be warned about what Could happen if getting hatchlings From Doc Walker. If anyone wants to see certain e-mails, I did save them.
Any other questions for me? I will be more than happy to answer.

I know people are going to jump in and say "well they were free, so why are you complaining", but to lose 4 babies that are in your possession must be very hard and I am sorry you had to go through this. I hope the other 2 make it. It does sound strange that the animals felt weird and that 4 of them just happen to die. No wonder they were available for free.

Lefty Doc Walker has a long history of dying babies. I strongly recommend you read the thread Lucille linked. This is just another in a very long string.

Well, they werent 'free' :) They were donated to a raffle and the tickets were $5 each... I bought 30 tickets. So... $150.00.

I was and still happy to have donated to the raffle. I am just heart sick about losing the babies. :( Its really hard to not know what happened or have to worry it may be catchy. The unknown is just scarey. I am taking all precautions I can and hopeing its enough.

I got babies from 2 others (3 from the raffle and 8 from another source) and they are doing wonderfully so far. I have just about everything crossed that I dont loss the last 2 from Doc or have anyothers pass.

Thanks you for your condolances. (I cant spell but the thanks is heart felt)

I'm thinking the raffle might have been in response to this situation:

I'm sad that this buyer sent funds that would help assist another in our community in their time of need, was lucky enough to win some hatchlings in the raffle, and now has so little to show for her donations.
It would be nice if anyone in her area who has surplus healthy hatchlings might consider a gift of one of them to her.

Lucille, Thank you for that. I never asked to be given anything but have had one offer of babies next spring. Which I thought was truly wonderful! But I cant and wont ask for anyone to help cover this problem. That just wouldnt be right.

I am disabled and on a limited income but I was and still am happy and actually proud to have donated to the raffle.

I basically started this thread just as a warning to others who may be thinking about buying or getting babies from Doc Walker.... as it says, buyer beware. I think forwarned is forarmed. If I can help atleast one person, then I am happy :)

Spitting image of that other thread where the poor kid got torn to pieces. Take em to a vet; get proof.. This is two times too many "Doc!" Or is it; the Doc of Death?

Its a Lot more than 2 and thats just what I personally know about.

The other BOI that was mentioned is why I was very worried about coming to the BOI about this ... but... I figured if I get dented up abit, but was able to help atleast one person? So be it.

Thanks for not tearing me apart. :)

Tom's right. This is not Doc's first rodeo with dying babies. Funny enough they are all perfectly fine at his house, then drop like flies at the new owners. He needs to have animals in his collection tested for a myriad of things.

I would not accept a lollipop from Doc's house, much less a snake.

It's a darn shame more of the affected parties won't step up. They fear reprisals for going after a "big name." Big name or not, something has not smelled right for a long time.

Autumn, I dont really see Doc Walker as a "big name" in the cornsnake community. Maybe thats just me but its how I feel.

I will see what I can do about helping ppl know its ok to come and speak up.

These snakes were available to purchase. Two of the snakes that Cat_Eyed_Lady won I was going to purchase but because of a situation that was beyond my control I wasn't able to. Thank goodness.

Wish I had seen this thread before! Mine will be going through quarantine at a friend's house, I think

Oh :censored: I hope the one I get from him is healthy!!

For your sake I hope the hatchling is ok also, I have had my round of his mysterious dying snakes. So have quite a few others on here and just to be told it is because we are noobs and don't know how to care for a snake. How long do you have to have snakes before you are not a noob? Me personally I have been keeping them off and on since '85 and some had been keeping longer than I have. My heart goes out to those who have lost babies from him and it may be a morbid thought but if nothing is done in the reptile community it will be a yearly occurring thing. I will say that if anyone has a hatchling from this source or one on its way to you, keep all emails and take pictures of the hatchlings. And of course QUARENTINE them. To the OP you did the right thing here. And did it in a very tactful and straight forward way. Thank you.

Thank you Bob. I did try to be polite. :) Its not always easy but it is much easier to be nice and have a factual conversation than to fly off the handle and be seen as someone out for vengence. I didnt ask Doc Walker for anything when the hatchlings started dieing. I should say, I asked for one thing.... help. But the only thing he could offer me was to give me my shipping fees back. Which I was grateful for and thanked him many times for but... that doesnt explain the questions I had for him. Like why they were so small (5-6 grams) and felt so mushy. The size I can Try to understand... wanting to keep them small and such for sale. but the mushyness worried me. Never felt anything like that before.

I did e-mail Doc Walker and told him of this thread, if anyone was curious. :) I just hope it helps ppl.

I have spoken to Dee before and after she decided to post this thread. I explained to her that I Should Not have sent any replies to her emails while in a state of total exhaustion from total sleep deprivation. I apologized for the incident, it wasnt my intention to upset her. She accepted my apology and I thought everything was ok. I had reimbursed her for the total cost of shipping the snakes to her on November 14th before this thread was even posted. There was no purchase price to reimburse because the snakes were donated free by me for a Charity Raffle for ProExotics. I did not receive any money for the snakes themselves, just the shipping. It is a shame that what started out as a positive enchange ended up with a negative thread being posted. In hind sight, I wish I would have just made a Cash Contribution to Pro Exotics directly. The snakes were shipped in an insulated box with a heat pak. It was pretty chilly in Wisconsin but not sub freezing. The snakes were fine upon arrival according to Miss Dee but took a turn for the worse the next day or two.
I wish it had a brighter outcome. I have sold almost 500 snakes this season with no problems. It looks like my streak just ended. Sorry again.

I will post here and let everyone know how my boy looks when he arrives. My final payment will be going out this saturday, and I hope we get a couple decent weather days to ship once the payment gets to him. I went straight to my friend's house once I saw this thread and took the tank he's going to be going into with me. My baby snake will be staying there for a few months or so, at the least, provided it lives-My friend's entire collection is housed in a separate building and he's said mine can stay in his house. That way it won't be around the others in his collection.

I tend to leave my screen up when I go somewhere. I know, stupid habit of mine. lol
