In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Info Adam Deviney, Adambomb123 - Houston Herpholics

I stopped reading partway through the first post.
1) The seller terminated the sale, and issued a refund, due to an identified problem. I don't know about anybody else, but I think he is to be commended for that. The only thing that might have been done differently is offering the buyer first option if/when the snakes were made available again (that may have been done - as I said, I stopped reading).
2) The buyer wanted to inspect the snakes to confirm that they had mites, because she felt the seller had actually found another buyer. Not only would I have not gone along with that idea, I would never enter into a transaction with that buyer again.
3) The reason I stopped reading - the comments about mite treatment. There are many ways of getting rid of the little buggers, some better than others. There is no "supposed to", it's all about preference and results. On top of coming right out and accusing him of lying to her, her approach about the treatment would have been another reason to end the deal.

I really wish you read the whole thing, and the subsequent emails. He had already decided a couple of times to not sell some snakes after saying he was willing to part with them (and then turning around and selling them to my friend when she arrived in person).

When I got his email, I assumed it was just seller's remorse and he was trying to get out of the deal to keep the snakes based on how he acted throughout the entire deal (and kept asking for more money than what he originally quoted us, after we expressed interest).

So yes, my "spidey sense" was tingling based on what was already said in past emails.

It WAS good that he didn't sell the snakes when he knew that they had mites.
NOT a good way of treating though-spraying ion the face.( I used olive oil and dawn dish soap when they sneaked into MY collection-now mite free!)

I would say that was VERY respectable of him to cancel the sale and refund the money. And he told her he did it! The buyer got the money back and could have gone somewhere else to get her snakes when the deal was cancelled.

But he did originally sell them when they had mites; I knew almost from the beginning what I was getting into. They were completing the treatment when the female that I was not purchasing relapsed in another room, away from the snakes I did purchase.

So, as far as I know, the snakes I purchased are completely mite free and he wasn't willing to let me wait to see if they would relapse too. He just wanted to cancel the whole deal.

What is odd, is the snakes Candace purchased from him were housed directly above the Savu who were infested. However, he was willing to part with those.

Along with Harold I will commend the seller for giving a refund. What did seem a lil fishy to me was the back an forth not wanting to sell. The adding money to the deal part would of made me walk away. If I give a quote then thats the price, its my fault if I didn't account for any added work. Personally I don't like the fact that the seller was going to buy animals with mites and possible bad health, aswell as the selling those said animals. Those are a No Warranty, No Refund type of sale. All in all I think the buyer should of walked away.

True, the added money would have made me walk away as well. I wouldn't have been willing to continue to deal with him once that had happened. Then again, I wouldn't have bought snakes that had mites, even though I had an experience with them. That is one experience I NEVER wish to have again! I was just lucky I was able to get rid of them quickly.

And you're right...His not wanting to sell the snakes that he had told her were available was pretty fishy.

I tried reading through all the emails, and I'm a little confused. Was he selling the snakes with mites, or was he waiting to sell them until the treatment was finished?

I think what it was, was that they had mites when he sold them to her, but he didn't want to send them to her with the mites, he wanted to get rid of the mites first. And she wanted them right away, and didn't beleive him that they had mites, and thought he was lying to her in order to get a better price from someone else.

I'm sorry, gmail isn't very easy to navigate anymore with their recent changes.

The snakes were originally priced out to us, then we were told they had mites after we expressed interest in purchasing them. I had walked away at that point because (like others have stated) I didn't really want to deal with that nor his weird price increases.

He, however, said he was willing to do the treatment himself, and then I would pick them up after treatment was finished. I gave him nearly a month to complete treatment. He also came down on price on the cabinets after I initially walked away, because he was expecting me to haggle? or something.

I, honestly, think that he's just new to the hobby and business transactions in general. I would have never, ever, continued further with this transaction if my friend wasn't going to personally inspect the snakes before I gave him any money. She inspected them in person, and gave him the money after she explained to me how they looked.

Does that answer your question, albeit very long windedly?

It cleared it up better for me, anyway. :) Thanks!

So he didn't tell you about the mites until you mentioned that you wanted them?
Ok, I think understand now. The mites should have been all dead already if he had been treating like he said he had. So you figured he had lied to you since the mites' life cycle would have been over by then, was that it?
When I had mites I got rid of them with only one treatment, but it did take a while the day I did it, oiling up the snakes, cleaning tubs and then washing the oil off with oroginal dawn dishsoap.

That does help clarify things a bit. I do have another question, though (and the seller may have to answer this one). Did he know about the mites before he advertised the snakes?

He made mention that he was currently "easing up" on treatment when the relapse happened, which made no sense to me (we also didn't get word of what had happened until Candace sent him an email asking him what day would be best to come pick them up). So yes, at that point I assumed I was being lied to because there shouldn't have been issues at this point if he was following his game plan for treatment.

I'm under the impression that the worst off female, that is currently in another room away from all the other snakes, is the one that had the relapse and the pair I had bought is fine.

But yes, we were not told about the mite issue until after we expressed interest in purchasing the snakes. Nor is that info in any of his current ads that are up on Fauna (or were, I don't know if he took them down or not at this point. But no mention of the mite issue was said in the ads as of last night).

I gave you your money back plus extra and said that I was sorry.... I Admitted fault to you, and gave you a lead on the same source for a pair of savus for cheaper than what I agreed to sell them for. I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish here, besides now defending yourself... I made mistakes, I made this deal up as I went. I can assure you that it won't happen again. I am ready to put this situation in the rear view mirror and move on. Hence the 25 dollars for you trouble. If you were so frustrated, you should have walked away! If you are so tired of dealing with this, why did you take so much time to string up a bunch of boring emails? I will make this easy for you... I am not a reptile dealer and I am not a savy business person... Maybe you could sleep at night giving someone mite infested snakes but I could not. If you are interested in nit picking my mistakes in this amateur business transaction, all the info is there. Have fun with that... I am not going to comment on it further nor am I going to play your silly game any longer. I bid you fair well and good luck!

Whoa, whoa. The OP accepted extra money for the trouble AND posted this? What a lowball! How are you going to take that money to smooth things over and then throw him to the wolves? Then pull the "he's selling it to someone else for more money" out of your butt when you are the one that left with extra money! Man, I've seen it all now.

FYI

I sent this to Kim so she can avoid the headache as well... You should have taken the 25 dollars and put it towards shipping on a pair of savus... Good luck getting them now, no one else has them!

Copy of the email to Kimberly Bell sales@reptmart

Hi Kim,

I wanted to take the time and thank you for the Male Savu Python that you sold me. He is healthy and very active. I recommended you to another buyer recently because a deal with me went sour and fell through. I thought I should mention this to you so you may avoid the headache in the future should something go wrong. I cancelled the transaction and refunded this persons money plus 25 dollars and still they took the time to post the hole ordeal on fauna.

That statement is as silly as it is incorrect. There are savus available, though they might not be advertised (or advertised where you are looking). Then again - I know of one person that has them, but wouldn't sell them to the OP because of this thread. Not everybody would pass on a sale because of this, though.

Whoa, back up a second. I never asked for extra money, nor did I even reply to his last email. What I didn't want was paypal fees as I paid cash for his snakes, and I wasn't about to accept a personal check.

He, however, has his $25 back. Though he has an unverified account and I don't know if he can access it (which is what I was afraid of when I noticed it was an unverified account, but he does have his money back) because I do NOT want the extra money. What I wanted was a smooth transaction from a guy who knew what he was doing, and I feel the $25 was hush money because he had stated multiple times he was afraid for his reputation.

FYI: It's also gifted, so he will receive the full $25.
