new boa has mites

If you were a bit farther up here in Ny i would send you to my certified reptile vet.He is only $52 and will not charge you any more unless he uses machines or meds.
I like him.He has started to do home visits, but i dont think i would let him do that here,in case he just came from mite heaven at some guys house before mine.LOL

well we have to pick our battles i cant have the mites get out if they relapse and hes only 20-22inches the coat is 14inches high 20g tank and im checking him out every few hours for mites if i see anything on him i can just remove before its a problem

You are right.Good luck with the battle man.Mites are a rough battle to have from what i hear.
I hope you win man.i also hope the possible impaction thing comes clear and you end up with a nice healthy boa.

i do alot of the stuff myself (only really with dragons) i do my own fecal tests and i have the meds terramycin, baytril, liquid panacar but so far only learned how to use with dragons
i wouldnt even try anything with snakes the one snake that i could of used the baytril on i gave away to a breeder who knew what he was doing sucks the snake cost me $100 but atleast hes living

i hope it all works out too i love my snakes i collect them i breed and collect the dragons only because there easy to breed and pay for me to get more snakes and dragons

i wouldnt really call anything a GG but i have 2 that are said to be GG ones a reg giant and the other is a high yellow giant hes 4 months old and as big as a few of my adults

There are a few around i'm sure..I had a couple back some years ago when i bred beardies.
My big male was near 27" and huge.I also had a female Orange GG and she was around 25"
Could have been mixed for sure. But they were nothing like my morphs at 18-20 inches.

yeah ive seen some big dragons over 500grams but never seen anything bigger then 24 inches thats why i just think of GG like lucy they are marketed as them but who knows if they really are i had a market lucy but to me she was just a very white hypo the only other color she had was very pale yellow bars and some on her face other wise all white but she was still just a hypo to me GG's if im not mistaken are just dragons from the inland nothing special in size just from that area they get a little bigger 22-24 inches most other dragons are smaller 18-22 inches and you really cant prove GG
my biggest is my citrus female shes 20in with a small tail nip and 450 grams even the one thats said to be a giant is only 20 inches but shes just very large her build is bigger them most of the dragons and her head has more spikes but thats about it she just laid 18 bad eggs 2 days ago shes 330 grams she laid 23 eggs on 12/4/11 18 good in the incubator now

Folks wonder why information doesn't come when requested?
Its shunned at every turn when its presented as quoted/proven advise from folks well advanced from internet spoon feeding.

In the last 5 yrs we as a hobby have lost 5 very long term pioneers(if you will) of the hobby.
They like those like minded that(for whatever reason) attempt to "PASS ON"
are now met at every turn with a trendy option as a solution to everything.
Wonder why herp forums now move at the rates and redundancies they do?

Socialism knows no boundaries

A lot of the times it is because of how the information or advice is given.

The Vaseline goes on the outside of the cage ...

Not the inside ...

To clarify.

Mites can only climb and walk about, not jump, so they will inevitably have to encounter the Vaseline whether it is attempting to get in or out.

Mike, I'd be more concerned about the impaction right now. Mites are a problem, but you don't seem to have many, and are dealing with them.

I've just lost a small snake from an intestinal "back up" (it wasn't an impaction, some other issue) so I'd get this snake to the vet if the impaction has not gone away after a few soaks.

I agree Helen, the impaction is #1 priority, thanks for bringing that back up, we all kinda focused on those darn mites. I had a blood python become impacted and by the time I noticed it there was too much damage done.

Lol on me Shadow! I wasn't thinking about the vaseline being on the outside. Now i can see
that.I was worried the stuff would get into its nostrils.
Thanks for clarifying.

I spray PAM, RID or equate into a rag liberally, then wipe the entire outside of the cage down. Done once a month, it works quite well as a preventative. I'm sure Vaseline will work, but it's not something I would ever use around them, simply because it is a petroleum based product, flammable even.

Just saying.

There are options to answer this but I guess safer not to
do to,when not being clear as to exact intent?
I'm far from thin skinned, but often abit more intense the folks can handle.
On this position I will never rest, the "PUNKS" at PAM are no different then
the GOV at shoving things in places they dont belong.

My battle with them on KS was epic, lasted 7-8 posts and they cratered as the cowards they were called out as.
CASES and cases of Black Knight (yeah I typo'd in the earlier post)are sitting in the warehouse chained down with bureaucratic BS.

Bottom line is ,
Absolute 100% Effectiveness or PAM?

;)

Times and practices change old man :D
