    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Derek Beando Dbeando scams

Nothing is easy about this case. Nothing. I am awaiting contact from the Animal Rescue League to help out with the storage while all of the details are worked out. As I said before, the proposal was only a proposal and can only be entertained by collective agreement of the victims (and yes, even Beando). Each of the victims will be contacted individually to determine rightful ownership in accordance with the agreement they had made with Beando and no one will take custody of anyone else's property until the legalese is worked out so that the victims are not re-victimized.

Just for the record, if needed, I could set up a temporary private forum here on this site that is password protected, if it would make it easier on everyone involved. Would just need someone to admin that forum.

Nathan it was nothing personal against you. I am just saying you all have to be careful.
Even the person on the receiving end has to be trustworthy as something can be brought up on their end against you guys.
You and Kristy or whoever may end up involved don't need any further headache on this. That is all I was saying.
I agree to have even some sort of resolution is amazing in a case like this. Very rarely happens. Just hoping someone can help you guys with a resolution that will cover everyone's butt. This is a huge undertaking.

Hoping that even though you guys will have your own site to hash this out we can get updates on the outcome of it.
 
The problem in all of this "legal talk" is distance. I'm across the country and I know others are as well. As the CPL said, we'd have to be there in person for this to work out and you would likely have the geckos die as noone would know how to properly care for them at the ASPCA (most likely). But I'll go into this more on the new site whenever we get to it. :)
 
Dragon, you are absolutely right. This entire issue walks a very fine line. I never hesitate to stick my neck out for others, and I am trying to see that the victim is taken care of, but it could open others up to further discomfort should it go awry. I continue to look for ways that I can help out, but as I said from the get-go, this is difficult at best.
 
:thumbsup: to everyone here for voicing their input to help find a proper way to do things! Webslave; outta karma today lol but Kudos to you for the private forum offer and your help in this matter. To see even those not victimized directly step up to help and Cpl Ury taking the steps I wish I had seen so many others take in Law Enforcement with these matters - even as a voyer to this thread I feel proud this has gotton this far, dispite how difficult it is. Hang in there everybody :)

Totally understandable! I can't imagine the stresses/frustration level you all are under. Especially trusting Paypal for protection only to find none!
These threads will help keep us on our toes and keep our eyes open.
 
I don't think enough attention has been placed to the issue of how these geckos are getting distributed. First and foremost (and I know this has been brought up) how is it confirmed that the geckos being seized are the correct ones? Someone who doesn't understand crested morphs (or reptile purchases, breeding, shipping, etc.) at ALL is the one obtaining these animals. Is Derek just handing him geckos and telling him their names?

And how did he decide that Nathan is a trustworthy individual to take on all these animals and redistribute them? Say the geckos get to him and a victim falls through the cracks and doesn't get their gecko (or the inevitable: someone who is unaware of this thread and has purchased a gecko?). Who do they go after? It's no longer Derek's problem: he turned them over to an officer who said he would get the victims taken care of. So then what? That person is out a gecko and can't pursue any legal action since Derek already closed his end of the loop by handing over the "stolen" property

And what about the extras? Does Nathan get to sell those and keep the profits? Or what about recovering his own costs? Can he determine the costs of the geckos and award himself 11 geckos that he's priced at 50$ apiece (to recuperate his costs)?

It just seems really open-ended that this officer has decided to pick the geckos up, trust one individual to redistribute them, and is assuming all the victims are taken care of and everyone will leave happy. This is exactly why, as many others have pointed, court is in place for a reason. I understand the CplUry is doing what he thinks is best for the victims but this is all SO questionable.

Your asking many questions that I'm also curious about. I don't think the geckos are being seized... I got a feeling that Derek has been mislead to believe that if he willingly hands over the geckos all charges will go away which is probably not true at all...if more victims come forward later or if known victims are not happy with the replacements or refuse replacements they could still press civil and criminal charges against him. I completely dislike what Derek has done and I want to see him pay but only if justice is done in a legal way.
 
I think it would be best to keep talk of Beando's further prosecution on the hush-hush, at least until whatever animals are being handed over have been handed over. Otherwise, if the deal is voluntary this BOI thread might actually screw that up, since he can come here and read everything your saying. If I were you guys, I'd be quiet until Thursday morning.
 
-- neon-- the corporal would ship the geckos out but he thinks he might kill them all by doing it wrong, i personally am not willing to let the first decide what gecko is valued to what. they could say 600 for a buckskin and 10 bucks for a pinstripe for all that we know, anyways if you read my post before you then you saw my idea about each gecko having different values to each person, such as a pink pinstripe could sell for 200 bucks but i would have paid 500 because it fits my plans perfectly, on the other side someone might say they would only give 50 bucks because they have no need for her their projects, ties is why I said we can do it in a way of like picking teams, flip a coin, roll a dice, pick a card or whatever to see who picks first, and then he picks, the second person picks..then the third, and we keep doing that in a circle until all the geckos are gone, that was my idea, it might not be the best but that is all anyone said so far

There are those of us who have troubling questions about the deal and its validity. The BOI is not the place to put the hush on, on the contrary, if one truly believes that there are issues, including legal issues, with this distribution, one should be able to voice them.
 
I think you missed my point. I'm not talking about most of the stuff you've been discussing- who gets what, etc. But I'd hate for the officer to not get geckos because Beando reads a BOI thread about how he's still gonna get it even if he cooperates. I'm just recommending prudence. The guy has already scammed a lot of people and is certainly only doing because he either has to or thinks he has to. Either way, if he suddenly thinks its no longer in his best interest to surrender these animals I bet you he will not go ahead.

I did not miss your point. If whatever guarantees might have been given Beando are illusory, if this scheme transfers property on the down low where both Beando and the people who receive critters may have future legal problems, it should not be hushed up in my opinion.
 
Wasn't the seriel seller selling off his stock? I know values change depending on the market but for the famous ones he was posting ads on, I would assume that's their value? Plenty of people bought them at those prices o_O maybe he had ads on the other - not so famous geckos also? I suppose without cooperation on his end we wouldn't know...just a thought on the "assigning values" stuff, the ads themselves if accessible should help with value info, no?
 
And i think it is extremely poor judgement to potentially mess up what the officer has worked out, just because people want to talk about it and just can't wait until tomorrow, not knowing the details themselves.
 
Is there some reason those of you with questions aren't contacting Cpl Ury directly? Earlier in the thread Nathan posted a whole bunch of information. Depending on local laws he may be able to tell you more over the phone. But it seems as if there's.. I don't know, doubt that Cpl Ury is actually affliated with the police, or something? If you call him up you're calling the barre police department, so he's the real deal and all. :)

I'm not telling anybody to shut up or anything, but it seems like you may have a better chance of information if you communicate with him through a more.. ah.. secured line.
