    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Derek Beando Dbeando scams

I got screwed by this guy also... I guess that's what I get for trusting ppl. It's been a while sense I sent my payment through PayPal. Is there anything I can do to get reembersed?
 
if it was within 45 days you can file a claim with paypal, though I doubt it will do any good, it hasn't for any of us. Worth a try though.
 
I would suggest just working through your bank/credit card rather than dealing with paypal at all. Paypal is worthless.
 
I wouldnt rule out his girlfriend having a hand in all this. I went to dereks place myself around Easter, and hand picked two babes. I saw with my own eyeballs what was going on, from parasitic infection, to his drug addict ex. I actually held VC and Candy in my hands. I didnt know what was going on at the time. I probably woulda run with the goods in hand. I also saw with my own eyes how much he loved the animals, and the look of horror when i suggested getting flagyl to treat the infection. Also, a lot of VCs kids come out brown.... I saw that, too.
Anyhoo, we were alone, geckoing, when his girlfriend came home with an entourage of crack smoking yuckies. She hopped on the computer under his name, and did her thing. He explained to me he let her handle it because she was better with all the messages. Dont rule out the girlfriend...
And after a long quarantine, my A&B is quite the beauty. ( this gecko was listed as a creamy pin unsexex, which i paid less than what he was asking, he must've liked me).
 
Regardless, Derek needs to be held accountable for fraud.

Also, I would never recommend anyone purchase a gecko from seller where you suspect their stock is infected. Just asking for trouble.
 
I don't care if it was his girlfriend. He lied to me multiple times on the phone and took advantage of my situation on purpose. Lets not forget that he is also a drug addict. If he loved his animals he would not have let them die in their cages. Obviously there were many people that cared about them and would've gladly taken them. I sent him almost $1000 and all I got was heartbreak.
 
I e-mailed his girlfriend from the address listed on their website when I first saw this thread, hoping to find more information on what Derek was doing/where he was, but never heard back. Unsurprisingly.

I had bought "creme frenche" from Derek in late February, not knowing any of this. Thankfully, I have had him for months now with no health issues. I'm hoping I got him out in time, before Derek really went downhill. Because even if his girlfriend was a part of his issues, I still believe he was also to blame. Especially since I also had a face to face interaction with him, as well as many texts (previously posted).
 
I spent a few hours last night reading this entire thread. Im sorry for everyone that lost their money. It would have been a mess receiving the geckos, considering they were all sick. The worst part is that the girlfriend and her entourage would use the reptile room to smoke crack.... Which i had the displeasure of walking into shortly thereafter, to pack up my purchases. It was tragic. Very very tragic. Im glad i got my wee ones out of there. They would have sufferend the same fate as the rest. If it makes any of you feel better, the kids life is probably ruined forever. He will be dealing with the addiction until he dies. It isnt easy to become 'recovering' from that, is he ever does. I can tell you, though. It really all started with the scum girlfriend. I was at his house for nearly two hours, things that have been seen cannot be unseen.

Sorry, I absolutely can't feel any sympathy for anyone that CHOOSES to use highly addictive, dangerous drugs. So she was addicted first. So she offered the crack to him. SO WHAT? He still chose to start smoking it. Unless she actively held him down and forced him to partake, he's every bit responsible for his own bad choices.

HE allowed "her" (probably 'their') addict friends in the house. He allowed them around HIS reptiles. He had every chance to not get involved in that situation, and chose to anyhow. He's getting what he deserves now. The ONLY beings in that household I feel sorry for are the animals that suffered, and died. THEY were the victims. He was a willing accomplice, and dug his own damn grave.
 
And better people receive "sick" geckos (do we have any proof?), getting them into the hands of an owner who could either TREAT them or have them put down humanely, instead of leaving them to suffer and die of dehydration.

Why would he be "horrified" when you suggested a safe, reliable, known treatment that would improve the health of his animals??

What does VC's kids being brown have to do with anything?? It doesn't make her less valuable herself, or her death any less heartbreaking.

... and it's EXTREMELY common for the offspring of red cresteds to hatch out tan, mud brown, sandy, creamy, and only come into their real colors at 6 months or more. I'd pick a dirt brown hatchling out of a reliable red line over a visibly "red" baby any day. They most often grow up the most amazing adults.

True that. Most of my best red Pinners hatch out lavender or light brown.
 
I just wanted to give people a quick heads up that Derek Beando has been sending friend requests to "gecko people" on Facebook. I usually have no problem giving people a second chance, but I think that Derek needs to make things right with myself and all the other people that he ripped off before he even considers buying any more geckos (I am assuming that might be his intention). I would also have serious concerns about his ability to care for any potential new geckos considering that we were told that many geckos were found dead in his home.

Advise don't sell/don't buy

Thank you for posting Angie. Apparently he was going into "Detox" on April 21 according to his FB page. I have heard that he has sent friend requests to several gecko breeders that I know. I haven't heard from any gecko people on this thread that he tried to contact them or make things right regarding the fraud or the deaths of the geckos he had, nor is there any reason to believe he has taken responsibility for any of his actions since we last heard that he was blaming everything on drugs, circumstances, and the girlfriend. I'm not counting the girlfriend out as a factor in all this since he mentioned her to me several times during this mess, however, he was the one I was talking to. I sincerely hope that this young man is able to conquer his drug addiction and make an honest life for himself, and that he is able to re-unite with his family and make peace there as well. That is the best option for a second chance for him. On the other hand, I do not believe he should be responsible for another life, especially anything helpless like a pet, until he is much, much older and has proven that this phase of his life is over.

If this happened and you witnessed illegal drug activity happening, why did you not call the police as soon as you and your geckos were out of there safely? Also, Derek is clearly judged by the company he keeps. Hanging out with/dating drug addicts does absolutely nothing to help his case regardless of whether he killed those geckos or not.
