In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Derek Beando Dbeando scams

I'm saying that he has something worked out to get some, if not all of the animals in question. Maybe they're the right ones, maybe their the wrong ones, but Officer Ury has whatever worked out with Beando to get these animals and I think that's a good thing. Officer Ury has not worked anything out with the offended parties as to who gets the animals, and while it sure is a mess, it seems as though there is a group effort to try and figure out how that will all go down. Officer Ury is trying to help, and assuming he ends up with geckos, is the only person in the entire thread getting anything done. Without him and his plan, nothing would be getting done. He's already explained how MA works and that the system isn't necessarily on you side and the victims will likely end up with squat and Beando will get off. At least if Officer Ury collects some animals, somebody will end up with something instead of nothing.

I'm just annoyed that you're griping about it because it's admittedly far from perfect, but it's way better than any other option to date. I'd be thankful for anything Officer Ury is able to work out if I were one of the victims.

That's exactly right. I'm annoyed, not insanely mad at you. I know you're a good lady all in all. :)

I am thinking that what they are attempting is to get geckos from beando and to someone who can care for them while they figure out what to do. I would say that's a good idea, and I think that whoever ends up being the temporary caregiver would NOT try and screw anyone over, seeing as how the police are directly involved, and would know exactly how many there are and everything. He probably won't know a thing about the colors or morphs or anything.

It could turn into a mess, but it could be handled like it is when someone dies or something. You know say, You have this long to put in a claim, and if you don't then you forfeit all rights to the geckos that were recovered." You know, when they do that though, if someone shows up after the allotted time, It's basically a you were notified, even if they didn't see the notification. Not entirely fair, but the only way I see this not turning into a heck of a bigger mess.

Cpl Ury looks like he is doing the best that he can in this situation. Even though its not the best solution at least Derek will not keep the money and the geckos and get off scott free. I see many potential problems but this resolution seems like it might be the only feasible option. Are people willing to spend the money and time to fight this in court??

Sorry to bring up old things but he is not the only one coming up with things to do. Nathan had plenty of ideas but all ofyou either didn't respond to them. Honestly he is the only one that got this whole thing going if itwerent for him you guys would probably still be doing nothing. So have faith in the git who is trying to build a name for himself insane I know you guys will probably bash me npwand I don't care but he has been my friend tortured yearshe just wants you Giuseppe to give him a chance and some credit hewould never screw you over.

The question that has been asked, and ignored, repeatedly still stands - have the other buyers agreed to this? I believe a few have commented that they wouldn't be interested in replacements, and I think that one person said that they wouldn't be comfortable with Nathan serving as as an intermediary for her. It's great that you have an option to recoup something...but is it reasonable to make a call on how this will be handled without the agreement of the group. Have you communicated with the others to establish who wants to be part of this, or who is trying to get their money back? It sounds as if anybody who isn't onboard within the relatively short time period (not enough to see a credit card dispute to completion, from the sound of it), is SOL...and, frankly, I think that is a lousy approach. Also, there has been no answer to the concern of what if some of the animals are not in good health - will this be addressed before shipping; or will people just be burdened with paying additional shipping costs for to receive them, regardless.

This is where the situation becomes VERY complicated in my mind. We do not know (nor does anyone really) for sure that all those that have been scammed by this guy have come forward yet. In the situation of someone dying, you can track down their family/relatives fairly easily. However, in this situation it is much harder to ensure that everyone that gave him money has been found (as much as we would like everyone reads Fauna....that simply isn't the case). The police are really the only ones that could gain access to all the information required to find all the victims here. Without that when someone comes forward 3 months from now to say "Hey I got scammed too," you can't simply say "You were notified" because they were not actually notified because no one knew they existed yet. If that happens, they will have a claim to some of the geckos that others got in restitution and this will all start over.

This is only one level of complexity with this issue. It gets much MUCH deeper when you start talking about gecko values, etc.

This is one of the FEW times I have seen an actual police investigation into a reptile scammer. Because of this no one really knows what to expect and there are going to be TONS of questions.

To say that this is a mess is an understatement. First and foremost, I will repeat that NO agreement has been made on my part with any of the people involved in this matter. I entered into this issue knowing and stating that it would be messy and difficult, at best. Beando has not been told that, should he make good on his agreements with the victims, that no action would be taken against him. Again, I represent the victims in any issue, not the offender. I can not, and would not give full details of the dealings in a public forum. The attempt, thus far, has been to assist the victims in any way that I can, hence several proposals. Doubt as to my employment is easily answered by contacting my department directly. Regardless of my job description, my goal is, and will continue to be to help others, which sometimes means that I try to find creative solutions. I truly believe that many agencies would have told those involved that there is nothing that they can do and simply leave everyone to fend for themselves. It may be my eventual downfall, but I simply can't do that as I believe my job extends far past writing tickets and locking people up. I don't see the input of others as hostile or counterproductive, quite the opposite. I think that this thread has illustrated the dangers of doing business online and the measures one should take to ensure that their interests are protected before it gets ugly.

Personally, I wish all LEOs were like you and had your attitude, Officer Ury. Quite likely many of us here who have gone to the law to try to find recourse for getting the short end of the stick in a business dealing have been frustrated by the complete lack of help or interest from any agency we have contacted. Normally we are told it is strictly a civil matter, and they CAN'T do anything to help, no matter how much evidence exists showing premeditated violations of the law being applied in the perpetrators pursuit of cheating and stealing from us. Truth be known, it is this exact lack of help we have come to expect that was the overwhelming reason for me to create this Board of Inquiry in the first place. Quite frankly, we have come to expect that we will get no help from law enforcement at all. I am surprised, and pleased, to see that this isn't a universal expectation from each and every law enforcement officer. But I do have to confess that I wish it was much more widespread than evidence indicates that it is.

Thank you for being on our side.

They don't try to track down all the people a dead person owes money to. That's what I meant. The executor puts a couple notices out that says a certain number of days a person has to put in a claim for what they're owed and if they miss the deadline then the executor can't be held liable, and the person basically has to deal with it. I mean, it can't go on forever, so they do that. They have to assume that everyone's been taken care of and the deadline ensures that there won't be a whole bunch of other issues.

Like, say post this on several different forums that many members are on and there's a good chance everyone who was scammed will pop in to say something. Sure you might miss a couple, but you'll probably never know everyone who wa scammed

Correct me if I'm wrong but he was banned and his ads were taken down "over there", from a quick look nobody at all is talking or being proactive about it, why not get the word out and find any remaining victims before the animals move through too many hands? :shrug01:

Excuse me but I'm the one who informed Nathan of what beando was doing. Others are trying to help the situation and its pretty rude to make assumptions like this.

Anyways if Derek is actually willing to get the geckos to the rightful owners and is working with police then I am willing to provide shipping supplies since he supposedly has none. I will drive up there and provide what's needed to get these geckos home. If he turned down that proposal then I feel Like there's really no other excuse

Ehh, kristy i am sorry, toni is my roommate and she is as upset as much as everyone else is in this, i wish she talked more before posting that, she says it wasn't directed towards you but towards all the non buyers.. but still..

for the record if anyone wants to know how this started i made a post about getting VC and jaybee and kristy notified me about how this may have been a problem and that's when we decided to make a BOI thread.

if Derek is willing to give the geckos to the owners wl the other people get their money back or will Derek try to value out the little ones for us and could we trust him not to give us petco geckos and just say it we from his collection.

if Kristy is driving up, if you didnt mind I would like to tag along, couldn't hurt.

Just to update everyone (I'll post more specifics later), I met Derek in person, and I also met Corporal Ury. Although I live about an hour and a half away from Barre, I would be happy to assist the legal pursuit of Derek since I am in MA and did also have a negative interaction with him.

I will post more details about what actually happened later this evening.

Hope everyone is able to get this settled to their satisfaction. I know how nervewracking this kind of problem is!

Obviously, several different members cannot all get VC, but something is better than nothing and somebody getting her is better than nobody.

But why was this decision made FOR the victims that something is better than nothing? A lot of them seem to not have said anything regarding the solutions proposed which, to me, says a lot.

Sorry, slow response :X Correct me if I'm wrong, but the geckos will be seized and held until an agreement can be reached?
