    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello

I am very sorry that this must be my first post on this site but i am seeking a resolution to a long standing problem with Mr. Bobby Hill of Varnyard.

As some of the members of TeguTalk may remember the thread i started in the autumn of last year i had been having difficulties with getting my Tegu from Varnyard.

Mr. Hill initially when wanting payment assured me that the process of getting the paperwork for transport to Ireland would take 6-8 weeks


Well i am now a full YEAR on from the time of order( 13th June 2011) and payment of the amount of $1350 for one extreme giant tegu and necessary shipping papers to Ireland.


I have asked Mr. Hill to return AT LEAST the $350 for the animal which i never received and have not gotten any reply.

I understand that most on there have dealt with this guy and are very happy with there reptiles and the service he provides( which were along with Mr.Hills assurances what lead me to order) but this has no become the worst service i have ever encountered.

MR HILL i am asking you publicly (as you will not respond my emails) to return my $350 dollars you have provided me with no goods or service.

You should post some emails and proof of payment - I have some comments in mind - but that info needs to be shared first

If you're going to call out someone with a well known name, you're gonna want to put as much effort as possible into backing up your claims. If you still have the email correspondence, post it. Do you happen to have a credit card, bank or PayPal statement, or anything else that shows you made said payment?

It's not letting me view whatever you've linked to since I'm not a member. Might want to take screen shots of whatever you feel is relevant and post them here. Also, out of curiousity, if you had originally paid $1350, why are you only asking for $350 back if he never provided what you paid for?

We are now almost 14 weeks from the time i made full payment and also over two weeks since i last contacted you without reply..




I am very disappointed in the service you have provided and i wish to ask for a refund of my payment as there seems to be no end in sight and also no communication.




I have stated that i understand you are bound by waiting for paperwork but i find it unacceptable at this stage that there is no certain timeframe for delivery.

I only read part of the link - but you should be advised that USFW generally requires a 90 day lead time for CBB CITES - but it can take more than that - I had one CITES that took 10 months and there are others that are still in processing after over a year.

I am only asking for $350 returned as Mr. Hill told me the Cites papers cost $1000 so i am "assuming" he has already sent that money with the application.

This was not made clear to me at time of order. I live in Ireland and am not aware of any of the paperwork involved in this procedure... I was assured by Mr.Hill it would take 6-8 weeks at time of payment.

CBB CITES application is $100 NOT $1000
 
CITES application $100
USFW inspection for CITES shipment $201

other costs would be actual freight (varies depending on airline) and a health certificate if ireland requires them.

Bobby should have provided you a full break down for what your money is actually being spent on.

Everything but the application cost should be refunded - since you are the one that wants to cancel the deal. That's just my opinion though.

Did he ever provide a written break-down of what exactly the extra $1000 was for, ie. $X for permits, $X for packaging/hanlding fees, $X for actual shipping, etc? IF the application is only $100, then it definitely seems as if you're owed the vast majority of your payment back.

I can imaging that some will make the argument that you should have known it was possible for it to take much longer than the stated "about 8 weeks", however, I'd personally not be very happy with the situation either. And, whether or not you're emailing to ask the same question every month, he has a good chunk of change that you gave him. So there's no excuse not to deign to reply to you, busy man or not. As far as popular opinion goes, I guess it'll come down to whether or not 1 year seems to be a reasonable time to have to wait, when you were originally told it'd likely be MUCH sooner.

No breakdown of what the $1000 covered. I trusted this was the cost of Cites & whatever paperwork was necessary on top of the shipping cost.

Yes looking back at it now i should have done more research .. but being in Ireland i am not aware of the legislation on your side of the water and i was assured by Mr.Hill that it was not an issue and would be ready to ship within 8 weeks. If he had told me BEFORE payment that this process could take up to a year i would only have sent him the money for the CITES application and not payment for the Tegu and shipping. He has now had $1000 of my money for over a year.

I find the lack of responses to my emails so unprofessional and certainly not the way to treat a customer.

Taking a year is not a typical situation - generally - the rarer the animal the longer the CITES will take.


The USFW biologists (which really there are only a couple and lots of people applying for CITES) are overwhelemed with a never ending flow of paperwork - not only for reptiles, but all CITES species of flora and fauna.

I tell people - 90 day lead time is required - but unforseen circumstances can drastically alter the time frame.
 
I really can't blame you for feeling the way you do. Taking extra time is one thing, theres nothing you can do about that. No communication? Theres no excuse for it. Because it's Bobby Hill people are gonna wanna back a big breeder before even considering your side. Personally with the way I have seen him act in forums, I would never buy from him. I also think his website is a joke, he claims his are the best, and he's the only one breeding stuff when thats not true. Ask him what all he feeds his adults. Good Luck and hope you can get some $$$ back.
