So, Josh over at Outback Reptiles had a couple fantastic dinkers that look very similar to my founder female, Osmosis, so I had to snag them. Thankfully there is a male!! I plan to breed him to a cinnamon and a normal next year to see what he produces. I'm pretty stoked about this project, and I think I'm managing to get some pretty awesome founding animals for it. Here are photos of the new additions!

Osmosis really kicked the feeding into gear this year and she's actually slightly heavier this go-around than last year. So, I decided to pair her up with my male calico. Her son, Oconee, won't be ready to go for several months yet, and since Osmosis was already starting to glow I couldn't let the opportunity pass by. I'm extremely curious to see what results from this pairing, and now that I have a Nature's Spirit incubator, no more stupid incubator malfunctions for me! *knock on wood*

Oconee probed MALE once he was old enough that I felt it was safe enough to do so! I'm horrible at popping, apparently, lol. Thanks for the best wishes, everyone, here's hoping this year will be better than the fiasco last year!

Just wanted to give everybody an update on the dinkers. Got a solid ovulation from the calico x osmosis breeding this year and four good eggs were laid last week! Now that I have a Nature's Spirit incubator I doubt I will have similar incubation problems this year. I can't wait to see what hatches!

So far three babies have hatched, and the last baby will probably emerge tonight. I got three calicos and one "normal" out of the clutch. Great looking snakes! I'm not sure now if I have a new line of rio now or not, the calico gene definitely overpowered the melting stripe pattern that's present in the normal colored animals. Dan Wolfe produced some arroyo calicos this year and they didn't have blackbacks (see 7:55 here in his video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tZ7SSc8iG8).
The "normal" baby, however, has all the characteristics I've come to recognize in whatever this trait is, no alien heads, and islands in the back pattern. Not a rio, but still something cool to dink around with. Can't wait to see what the future brings! My hope is that this is another codom, but we'll see in a couple of years.
