    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Went in that shop today, same store formerly in Seaford/Hicksville, new location and by far the dirtiest yet!! I am still in shock at some of the things I witnessed today. I don't know where to begin. I saw poor lizards with bones sticking out and looking all wilted and dehydrated(black throat monitors), I saw snakes covered in mites, looking for water with none to be found which was the case with almost every single reptile there. I saw what looked to be a deceased young savannah monitor still in one of the tanks. There was a large staff too but nobody would do a thing. Tanks had enough poop in them you'd think it's been weeks since anybody touched a cleaner. And to top it all off, when you approach owner Doug about this, he will run and hide and avoid any confrontation. This store needs to be reported ASAP and actions must be taken! I am having a cousin stop in tomorrow to grab some photos of everything. Here's the store info... I am still shaking and in shock pardon should I have made any spelling errors by the way.

Wow have you really been there? or are talking about a different place? My family is in there weekly getting food from our bearded dragon (and sometimes just to take our 3 1/2 year old son in bc he loves to see all the reptiles). And I can't say enough wonderful things about it! The staff is amazing! Always around, helpful, extremely knowledgeable about all the reptiles and even super nice to my son (he loves when they feed the alligators when he's there!) The area in the back is awesome and we've paid several times to go back there. All the animals are well taken care of and the store is always clean! Please do take pictures and post them bc if you do you will see what an amazing store it is and how well taken care of all the animals are.
 
What you need to do now, is have your child checked out for any diseases he could've contracted. I will be going to the Village of Amityville Health Department today to file a report. In no way should any child be entering this shop, breathing this stuff in. And Alligators?! They have one. As with most of their collection, everything dies off and they get down to 1 at max, then need to keep replacing them, not because they sell, but the opposite!
 
Nobody needs to defend this place here, if you look back you will already see enough bad about these guys... Over the years, they've only received hate, there has never been a good guy post on this forum. I'm just bringing their most recent problems to light cause I truly care for the animals involved:/

Go to Repxotica 10 minutes away!
 
Honestly you seem a bit desperate and on a mission. If you say it is as bad as you say it is go take photos.
 
I agree with Chris, I am withholding judgement until I see photos. In order to make your claims valid, you need to present some proof. Talk is cheap.
 
I'm agreeing with Chris and Vanessa here. I have a hard time swallowing someone's word as fact when they only just joined Fauna to make a BOI post as their first. That includes Jenise up there who was supporting the alleged bad guy.

Pics or it didn't happen.

Second this, the fact they also are advertising another Pet Store makes me feel they ether work for that Store and are trying to knock the competition down a little. Jenise, has also posted on their Facebook so I can see why they just joined. They wanted to put their two cents in.

As stated, I will not say good or bad till I see photos or a video I'd prefer a video as we can see from start to finish so we know that it was taken at said store.. otherwise the photos could be from any place and not the place they're trying to bring down.
 
It is kinda funny how jagostini82 just joined july 2013 and his first and only post is on this thread... maybe someone trying to defend their store by posting on here with great remarks... Just an observation.

Yes frenzy, this is going to continue to happen because the store is pleading with their few customers on facebook to get on here join up and post nonsense. Not sure why anyone can say this is my first post, I've been a member on here for nearly 6 months and have made over 30 posts. Not sure they are going to allow me or my brother into the store for pictures today but we will do our best. All I can say is go in and see for yourself but I warn you! Actions will be taken regardless of this post I'm just informing the reptile community in case anyone considered possible business with them in the future!
 
Take a photograph of the outside of the store while you're there so we know that's where you were. We've had former employees/disgruntled customers/competitors trying to hurt good businesses on here before, so at this point I don't believe anything until I see enough evidence.
 
If they have nothing to hide, as they stated on their Facebook they should have no problem letting you go take photos. Also yes, when this was first posted, your post count was 1 so this thread you made was your first post. As of right now I only see 5 for post count. Did you possibly have another account here that you used to use and that could be throwing you?

Also for those that will be, have, signed up. You're welcome to post your photos as well. Any, and all, proof is welcome to help call this thread a true bad guy or a person just out to draw some blood. We will not know which one till proof is posted from ether side.

I did just join to comment here and to defend them. They posted this on their Facebook page and I think it's ridiculous and wanted to post my experience with them. I would not be taking my family there weekly if it was dirty or that I was worried they would contract disease as the above poster commented. Please go in and take pictures and post. But I'm sure you won't because if u did, the pictures would show you were lying. And no I'm not a store owner/employee/ or personally know any of the guys that are. My husband bought our bearded dragon from them about 6 years ago and we have been going ever since

Well, about 4.5 months, and 23 posts. Deleted ads don't really speak to your character or integrity, though; and this is your only other contribution to this site. You are as much a stranger to us as Jagostini82; so you two are on a level playing field with VERY different stories.

Your description sounds pretty bad...but why come here urging others to take action rather than doing it yourself?
 
I'll admit it's been awhile but I've been to DNJ when they first opened up at the new place. I was pleased with the experience. The staff was very attentive and helpful.. I think while I was there they were also walking a lady through mite treatment for her GTP.

Obviously I can't speak to the most current state of affairs, but that's my two cents anyway. IMHO it was a bit silly to broadcast your intentions to go in there and photograph in advace. Do you think someone is just gonna let you waltz into their shop with the open intention of making them look terrible on the internet? I have a feeling pics won't actually be forthcoming, but I'm curious to see what happens.

And FWIW I definitely don't believe that OP is affiliated with Repxotica in any official way.
 
I am not a very active member here either but I can say that having visited both the new store and the old one I have never had anything but a good experience there. My first visit they even let me visit into their paid area without paying because I was so interested in the animals and had questions for them.

I don't frequent the store often as I live farther east on the island but I can't imagine it being anything like the OP described at any point.
