• Responding to email notices you receive.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Exploit Toolkit Website 33 Attack

Any reason for needing to run Raid setup with SSDs. Good quality SSDs with enough space should have no performance issues at all since its only few sites being ran off it.

Now if you were running a business hosting sites, i could see putting the SSDs in a Raid 6 or Raid 10.

Raid 1 has duplicate disks that are backing up each record in real time. I'm sure you know this, just informing anyone else who doesn't. In any event, with RAID 1 if one drive fails, the other has an up to the minute backup and should just keep chugging along till someone replaces the failed drive. At which time, the new drive gets rebuilt to copy the original drive. And that is hoping that a failed drive notifies SOMEBODY about it, of course.

In the past I simply have been running a backup of the sites each night on a separate backup drive, which holds last night's backup, one from a week ago, and then one from a month ago. Honestly, only the previous night's backup would be any good to me. And if that is corrupted, who here is going to be happy with losing a week's worth of threads and posts?

As an aside, I've also been running my own backup of the databases and copying them down to my own PC every day. Just in case. There have been cases of hackers going into a server and the very first thing they do is to wipe out the backups before trashing the actual data. Sure wouldn't want that to happen.... So I do my own offsite backup regimen.

RAID, no matter what type, isn't an absolutely perfect answer for keeping your data safe. And if need be, I would go back to just doing daily backups without using RAID at all. But the duplicate drives in RAID 1 configuration was offered me in a server for the same price I am paying for the older non RAIDed drives, so why not?

Well, I sure don't know what the heck is going on. The server guy says they are building me a new server, but I haven't heard a peep about what the specs are of the new box. So I can't pass that info onto the security guy to see if that is acceptable to him. You would think asking someone "what are the specs of that new server", wouldn't be all that tough to answer, now wouldn't you? Or am I just being picky about stuff like that?

Lordy, all server moves I have had in the past have been pretty much nightmares, but this one hasn't even started the actual site moving yet and it is already about to have my head explode.

Just letting you know that I got another redirect just now to an adult site, but it was not AFF. The website in the browser bar was jumbled, so I don't know where it went. This is the first redirect I've had in about 3 days.

That's weird that everyone is experiencing different redirects. Yesterday I was redirected maybe 15 times. It seemed like every fifth link I clicked redirected me. Not once today.

The security guy is working on the new server getting it ready for the site moves. He seems satisfied with the new box. Said he had some hardware failures but didn't elaborate.

I'll try to give some warning before shutting the site down prior to the move, but don't expect much lead time. If you get a message that the site is closed, then you will know why.

Anyway, got my Excedrin standing by.....

I would have lost my mind by now, so thanks for everything you do to keep this site available to us even though at times it's a huge headache for you :)

I was redirected once this morning but the page I was brought to was "removed" (?)

I got one last night to aff while I was on my ipad, but that was the first time I had gone on the forum in about 3 months on that thing. No redirects for 2 days on my laptop.
