Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Dishonest guy Jon Boone (User name Geitje)

Do you have some reason to believe Jon will not refund when he's able to see these animals in front of him?

I am wondering the same thing since Jon seems to have a pretty solid reputation. To think the OP is so skeptical that he would refuse to send LIVE animals back before a refund is a bit dramatic. Especially since most TOS requires the animals first.

Generally animals are returned first and then refund.

Yes you right generally buyer should return the animals first but after many times promised from him but still didn't get what I paid no way I can trust him again. Let me list how many times I trust him in this deal.

1. July paid full amount right after we agreed the price.

2. In August when I received the animals from post office I told him I think it is a male, even I have never keep this species before, I can tell it is a male, but he said it is a female, wait I will see the differentce
later, I trust him with that.

3. In Sept it turned out a male even he agreed with that, he said he should have a female in a month to replace it, I trust him again.

4. In Oct he said still don't have the female yet again should have one in a month, also asked me if have back up plan, I told him how about refund, he never answer me again even I sent him two more email after that.

Should I trust me again?
My opinion if I am him, I will refund the money right away to show I am a good dealer, especially if I made so many promised but non of them come true.

Wai

Ken/ Wai - why would you not be interested in a female that would not set your timeline back, at no additional charge to you?

I'm starting to get the feeling, too, that OP is fishing.

I'm not sure how your trust was violated the first time. In no way defending poor communication, but everyone seems to be in agreement that it was an honest mistake that the seller is willing (if not eager) to rectify.

I don't know what made you think I am not interested in female, I been waiting for him to come up a female replace the male for 3 months, where is the female now, as what he promised the couple times he should have it in a month, month after the other month?

It seems since everyone likes Jon they don't want this to be a bad guy post, and I think that is clouding some of the statements being said. And everyone is missing the point. Ken wants his money back and Jon stopped communication for almost 2 months. Just because personal issues come up doesn't mean you can just abandon your customers and stop doing business. If the OP wants a refund he should be given one and Jon should pay to have the other male shipped back since he doesn't want it.

Wow. First, Jon, I'm happy your life is getting back together. Good luck. So let me get this straight. Jon "miss-sexed" a couple young geckos and Ken ended up with two males. Jon is going to send Ken, at no expense a female that will be old enough to breed this coming breeding season. He gets to keep the extra male to use as a backup or to sell. How is this not a good deal? This is the reptile breeding business, not a factory. I understand Ken feeling put off, but at the same time Jon seems to be going to a lot of trouble and expense to not only fix the mistake but it seems Ken's going to come out ahead over time thanks to Jon's error and the fact that Jon's a good businessman. Just my opinion for what it's worth
Yes, he "mis sexed" a couple young geckos that he advertised as a pair. NOT WAI'S FAULT. But not for this thread Wai knew nothing about Jon's intentions to fix this. Jon may be the best business man on the planet, but he wasn't this time. Personal turmoil aside, business is business. There is no excuse for ignoring a customer.

Wai, it looks like you emailed him twice, about a week apart, in Sept. By Oct, he said it should be another month or so.

I don't see where he kept saying "a month more" over and over.

I don't know what made you think I am not interested in female, I been waiting for him to come up a female replace the male for 3 months, where is the female now, as what he promised the couple times he should have it in a month, month after the other month?

I think this is part of the problem. I would either decide to wait for a female or follow through with the refund immediately. This is the same issue I noticed in the emails. If you are going to take a chance at waiting, you should understand what you are involving yourself in. If you don't have have faith, then only pursue the refund.

I think you should get what you pay for the first time around. If the geckos are to hard for Jon to sex 100% right as juvies he should say right off the bat this is a probable pair. I know everyone males mistakes but the buyer should never suffer. I guess some of you would call me crazy. I do not think the buyer should have to send them both back to get a refund. But if he does I think he would be crazy to ship them back first. I'm not saying the seller is a bad guy but he's drug this out for to long. Demand your money back first!! Then I would say wait 3 months to ship them back. I bet he won't be as patient as your being.
***ive made my fair share of mistakes with shipping. But I fix them and I fix them fast!

He is searching for a suitably sized female, even trying to get one from Germany.

He also said that he will have a female ready to replace since Sept, why can't he just refund the money?
Are you here Jon? How about that you send the refund to your buddy in LA, I believe his named Frank, I bring him two geckos and he give me the cash in LA, is that fair?

So refund all the money back, pay shipping back for one male gecko and let him keep the other male? Harsh penalty for not getting a juvie gecko sex right. At this point I would refund the cost of a female let him keep both males and improve on my communication skills.

Jon is reputable

I have over 20 species in my collection from Jon totaling over 60 geckos. On the rare occasion that I have had a problem Jon was more than reasonable about fixing the circumstance as have I on the rare occasion that he has had an issue with mine.

When you produce over a thousand geckos a year it's impossible to be 100% perfect. What counts to me is if the seller is willing to fix it. For the quantity of geckos he produces...you would see a lot of bad guy posts if he was actually that way. He's not...point blank. Your assuming that you are a victim from what is a fixable mistake.

As far as Jon's circumstance with his wife is concerned I will personally attest that it is a stress full circumstance for him. On several conversations he referred to her as his wife and not his ex despite them being broken up at the time. He's an honorable man. About a month ago on Face Book in the rare reptile classifieds he did a charity auction for a one time customer that had her car broken into. A single mom. Hardly a lack of character.

Posting things about people that are willing to fix a problem like this only makes people not respect you for it. Personally I would never want your business. Joe Hupp Australedonian Geckos

First off, Jon may be a victim in his personal life, which seemsd to have worked out. But Wai is the victim in this transaction. He had time for a charity auction, but couldn't take five minutes to call or text Wai? Did he have a business transaction with that single mom?

I would like to state that I am not doubting that Jon is an honorable man. I will say however that honorable men should treat the little guy with the same importance as the big guy. Perhaps Jon lost sight of that, I don't know. Bottom line is it took this thread to dhed light where there was no dark.

Did I say refund all the money back?????? No I said Jon should pay shipping back for the one male and he should get his money back for the other male. But it seems he doesnt want neither... Plz dont misquote me. Im on the OP side

Meant to say "shed light". Sorry
