In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Amanda & Mike Webb of The Pet Gecko

Actually, in the posted conversation in post 5, you DID say that you have had ALL your gecko's tested. Was that a lie?

I read the same thing.

ABT is a very reputable lab & it would have been redundant to send a second sample to them from the vet to be tested.

The Webbs seem to want to throw this off on the OP because the vet did not preform a second test, which even the specialist consulted said it was unnecessary.

This is very disconcerting. As an avid Leopard Gecko keeper, I will be marking the Webbs off my list of people to buy from & will refer anyone who asks me about them to this thread. Thanks for the heads up.

The Webbs clearly don't understand that their reputation isn't worth $60.

Great job posting all the info and the evidence. I would never purchase from the Webbs after reading this.

For one, our lives do not revolve around the computer and I did not say all 400 geckos were tested, that would be one hell of a bill, we took multiple samples from different racks, rooms, etc. And
Ran slides and sent some in, our results have been negative and our animals are healthy
And show no signs of illness. There was and always will be sanitizer on our table at the shows, and flat out the necropsy report shows negative results with the entire remainder of the intact digestional tract. One test collected at home by the buyer showed positive, the owner did NOT have the
Test done by a vet, and the necropsy results with MULTIPLE test and procedures
All came back negative. Its right in the posted result. Now we do agree the facts
Are there, but read em before you get then twisted.

Regarding the necropsy results, Mike, please see the abstract posted below. You can find the full text on JSTOR, should you desire.

Crypto or not, the animal was sick. I was kind of shocked that you demanded an expensive necropsy. You should have just refunded the $60 for the gecko and ideally the $25 for the crypto test. Not sure how much all vets charge, but I paid over $350 recently for a necropsy. I highly doubt you were willing to pay that fee even if it showed the crypto positive results.

You should have refunded the money right away and then started testing your animals thru Avian. Not had a sale to move them out quickly. This could cause a huge outbreak if you have any other animals that have it. And if you listened to Pat's show on crypto, not all animals show symptoms. That's why it's helpful to have yours tested.

I agree and am slightly outraged that they demanded you get a necropsy. Seems like a very shady and underhanded way to refuse a refund as they were probably betting on you not taking the time/money to get one done and were planning on using that as a crutch to save themselves a measly $60.

The leopard gecko Angela purchased tested positive for Crypto AND showed symptoms and she even went as far as to send you documented evidence of the ill-formed fecals and regurgitation. Easy solution, refund her the money and get to work testing your stock. Instead you made unreasonable demands and are continuing to sell without giving any warnings to your customers.

Concur with several others. Amanda and Mike are on my solid 'do not buy from' list.

Is there still a chance the "sick one" left behind a trace?

Not sure what you mean about a trace, but Angela had it in quarantine. I'm not sure how many it was around at the show and before with the Webbs. It could have spread to others in their collection.

Is there still a chance the "sick one" left behind a trace?

I have steam cleaned and used a UV sterilizer on the rack in which Bella was housed and have since left it empty to dry out completely. Her tub, which would be the most likely item to have been contaminated, was left at the veterinarian's office for disposal with their med waste, and everything else that came into contact with her while she was in quarantine was disposed of very soon after the positive result. I can't think of anything that might still have viable trace available for testing.

I will be submitting an environmental swab to Avian from the top of her rack space to ensure my cleaning process worked, but even if it comes back negative I'm still considering tossing the rack. Which is difficult, because it was a brand new AP rack, and this incident has already drained much of my gecko emergency fund.

You did such a great job cleaning. I never thought of testing the rack though, so that's a good idea. I honestly don't think there is any trace of anything left except what was left of the necropsy if they saved anything.

I am honestly worried about the trace left behind before you got her though. That's where my concern is.

Even if there was anything left to test, what would it really prove? She already tested positive and that wasn't enough for them.

I have to agree.

A test was performed by a reputable lab & the result was dismissed by the Webbs.

If nothing else, it would further validate the original test result as the necropsy was unable to do. Not for the Webbs, but for others who will come to this thread in the future. But that is water under the bridge at this point.

I suppose, however the first test was a good one & while the necropsy was inconclusive, doesn't negate the fact that the poor gecko was very sick and had all the signs of crypto. You did everything right IMO & should've gotten a refund for the gecko & the funds for the vet and necropsy.

Previous to this version of Fauna Classifieds there are threads on The first BOI regarding Mike from 15 years ago.
http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/inquiry2/

The database doesn't have a search function for part one and part two was lost. I am sure there were some on part 2 which included several people not receiving their animals that were paid for.

Here are a couple of threads from the first part of the old BOI that pertains to Mike. I believe that there are/were more on the older version of this site.

What a read! Thanks Dennis! Here in Georgia we have a saying about people like this, "not worth killing". If that is inappropriate, I apologize in advance, JMHO.

If any of that had come up when I searched their newest business name "The Pet Gecko" here on the BOI, I would have avoided this whole transaction. At least now the old and new names (all of them) are connected.

Thank you for a very helpful post.

From the legal dictionary at law.com
Bolding mine:

"defamation

n. the act of making untrue statements about another which damages his/her reputation. If the defamatory statement is printed or broadcast over the media it is libel and, if only oral, it is slander. Public figures, including officeholders and candidates, have to show that the defamation was made with malicious intent and was not just fair comment. Damages for slander may be limited to actual (special) damages unless there is malice. "

And with that, and the following attachment, I believe there is nothing more I need to say about this situation.

Yep, been doing business for over 15 years, some pissy little whore in kansas
That could not follow through on having the gecko seen in a reasonable time and had necropsy
Results that were negative and inconclusive isnt going to slow me down one bit.. so have fun wasting your time, stick the $60.00 up your ass since you want to be a cunt about things. I could give a shit less about the opinions of a bunch of people sitting on a forum with nothing better to do, I have healthy animals and have no problem selling them. Anybody is more than welcome to see them in person at
Any show we are attending.
