    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

No I didn't. He looked after I pointed out that his fb page showed him as friends with Ophidian Reptiles. I don't know what prompted him to look here. Maybe he googled his name, lol.

Why are the police getting involved in a civil matter? If he didn't uphold his end of your contract, it would be something for the courts to resolve, not law enforcement. Also, if it does turn out this person is a minor, they're not legally allowed/able to enter into binding contracts. This varies by state, though, so check up on the laws there to see what your options are.

Did his mom reply on facebook? Maybe she will take the high road in this.

There was an allegation of animal cruelty, a claim that the snakes were beaten to death. It is possible that the alleged beatings and videotaping since there was a claim children were involved, might warrant a visit.

Why is it a civil matter. Theft and Fraud are criminal violations even in juvenile court.
 
It's both criminal and civil. Dakota can be sued for the value of the snakes and he can have criminal charges for running a scam. It's quit clear that Dakota had no intentions of sending Clark anything in return.
 
It would be good to see emails of details the actual agreement, tracking numbers showing that Clark's snakes arrived, and exactly what the other party agreed to do, and when he agreed to do it.

Because you're making assumptions of guilt. There is no theft or fraud at this point, only a failure to uphold one side of a contract. As it currently stands, Dakota's side of the story is that the snakes were killed by his neighbors. Even if that is true (regardless of what we believe) he still owes the OP what he promised to deliver in his trade. Police don't get involved in "money matters" - they won't enforce the contract. They might investigate animal cruelty, but as for the destruction of property, Dakota would have to file a complaint against his neighbor for that.

I certainly do not want to sidetrack this thread, but I believe you are incorrect. Here in Georgia, I would have a warrant today. Maybe it doesn't work that way in NY.
 
In fairness, I should mention that I live in a rural county. The sheriff is a good friend, The Probate Judge is my nephew and our Superior Court Judge is my first cousin. I have also been friends with our Magistrate Judge for over 30 years.
 
It does vary by jurisdiction, yeah. The OP's first post states that he contacted the sheriff dept. and they told him they don't get involved in civil matters, which is why I quoted his post above and got into this in the first place. No worries.
