Sb310 passed because the exotic industry didn't stick together
During that time I didn't have reptiles, I didn't know any of it was going on. I had a ton of stuff going on in my own life. I started out with a rescued ball at 14 and had many reptiles and species over the years but I was dealt a crushing blow that took many years to recover from so for that I'm sorry I wasn't there to help fight for ohio. And honestly the permits for these animals, maybe they aren't getting them because the enclosures don't meet the guidelines and they can't get the permits?Sb310 passed because the exotic industry didn't stick together
.oh and for the record you people have no one to blame but yourselves for what has happened to the industry. .you all did this with your stupidity and your willingness to follow like sheep, to afraid to think.
and here we go. even rodney admits USARK is the only game in town. So why does he talk badly about the only game in town? Off his meds? he admits to getting along with the USARK president but continues to bad mouth USARK? Choose a side already. You can't take both sides and then say I told you so when one of your sides win. You can't say USARK did not do a thing and then not do a thing yourself. You can't fight legislation in your state and blame USARK when you lose. What has your buddy Terry done? We hear so much about what USARK has not done. What has your buddy Terry's group done?...the future of the industry isn't looking good and it's all riding on usarks lawsuit. ...if they lose that lawsuit it will most likely end usark and we will be right back to square one with no organization to fight for us..

Seems to me they knew the laws were changing, didn't bother to research what those laws were so they're saying "THEY" never told us. Even if grandfathered in they would still need the permits. That whole story doesn't sit right with me. Even the ODA says they didn't comply, how is that ODAs fault? I've been in contact with the ODA twice now to find out what I need BEFORE Tyson hits 12ft so I can keep him legally.http://www.wkyc.com/story/news/local/northeast-ohio/2015/01/22/archie-the-bear/22197173/
there's a couple who were told they were grandfathered in, yet are now being faced with losing their pet. After being told that if they had up to date permits prior to 2012, they were ok.
i may never want to own a bear or tiger or chimp, but I'm not going to say someone shouldn't or can't.
He already said at this point he doesn't have an issue with how it's run currently. After reading the whole thread, it seems he was attacked for saying there was a fox in the hen house. Now, he's getting it because the fox *was* in the hen house and no one heeded his warnings, as if that were his fault.

I posted everything regarding ohio's regulations. Do I need to post it all again in one comment? It says follow ZAA standards of care. I will go back over it again, but the Ohio revised code says no less than 12 in in height for terrestrial restricted snakes. The guy who does the inspections told me himself that is what he goes by. Many people in ohio have permits for the large snakes. So tell me how they got them if they don't want us to have them? Of course the big mammal regulations are going to be even more strict since they have teeth claws and a ton more strength and can do way more damage than and snake.Sounds like you are doing what they did, by contacting ODAto find out what they needed, yet they were told one thing and ended up being shafted. They station who did the article states they saw the previous permits which showed they were in compliance with the pre 2012 standards. So, essentially, they were told they were grandfathered in, told they didn't need to renew their permits and are now being told they aren't in compliance.
That's a big issue. In what you posted, it gives one enclosure height. In a different section of the code, which I posted in the other thread, there is a section that states compliance with ZAA regulations is required. So, it's all gonna come down to the specific agent that comes to inspect your enclosure and what they deem is the proper regulation. (To give an example from my state, pending in which agent you ask, false water cobras are either legal or illegal. By code, though, *any* venomous is illegal. Hognose snakes are legal, yet should be illegal if the FWCs are considered illegal. How do you know when one person says "a" and another says "b", when both are fish and wildlife officials?)
I was going to rip you a new one with all your double talk of I like them but i will continue to talk poop about them. They lost in ohio but didnt. This happened but not really. But alas, like they say in communications 101, everyone perceives things differently. I may think the sky is blue, but you may not think so.
But I will leave it at this. Do you want to waste your time arguing or do you want to work with others like an adult and do something positive?
No you gave a news article, which we all know the media twists facts and lies, like the people trying to keep their animals aren't going to lie, obviously they didn't research what those laws would be, I don't believe they were told they didn't need a new permit, being grandfathered in doesn't male you free of permits when they had permits prior?? Yea nothing about that adds up to me.*shrug* outside of showing you that they've said one thing to keepers then done another, showing you they have the ability to say the ZAA regulations outweigh the restricted snake regulations and giving you a personal example from my state, I can't really do much more. Just don't be surprised if the agent at your door doesn't echo the one on the phone.
