As i said before, I was surprised because warnings were made about profanity and not abusing it. It is very clear that profanity was used many many times when not at all necessary, which only drove the discussion further from the "nugget" and towards aggression and insults. As this does help show how people handle themselves, I do not think excessive profanity is okay under your rules. I will check soon, but profanity makes everything unprofessional and immature when trying to have a discussion of value.

There are certainly rules here against profanity, and those people using it WILL get infractions for it that can lead up to their banning. But infractions made to members are not publicly viewable, so you won't know that someone has gotten an infraction if it is not you who received the infraction. Your first and only sign that someone has run afoul of the rules could be when they are temporarily banned from the site.

Also, we do not go in after the fact to edit out such profanity, because in doing so WE would then legally become co-authors to potentially defamatory posts others have made. So if such posts were to result in a lawsuit, WE could then be named as co-defendants in said lawsuit because of such edits. Thanks, but no thanks.

There is also the issue about profanity in attachments, both audio and photo screen captures. Many people do not have the technical tools nor expertise in order to edit out profanity, so I had to make the decision that it is better to have such evidence provided under the necessity of it possibly being valuable to the discussion, rather than dinging the people providing it and therefore discouraging them from providing that info.

Rob is not saying anything offensive and I think that he makes a good point. You have your policy, which you stated, but you are a business that is profitable. There will always be a bias when money is involved. Such as people that sell to Jim or Rob will try to support either or based on whom they make money through.

The problem you have is that you don't know the history of this site. The breeders that stopped supporting fauna because Rich didn't bend to that bias and remove or edit threads that didn't look favorable to them. You are completely out in left field on that accusation.

People can disagree how this site operates but to say that any preferential treatment of sponsors here over threads in this forum would only be made by someone who doesn't know the history of the BOI.

You were fine with this site as long as the majority of the posters on a given topic agreed with you. The minute you found yourself in a disagreement with other posters, all of a sudden it was the sites fault. Instead of addressing the posters you had a problem with you started attacking the site. Nothing changed here. Your attitude changed towards the site because of disagreements you had with other posters.

Not hard for anyone to go back and look at your posts. You didn't have a problem here between your registration date in 09 until 12. Everything was just peachy. You start a thread in 2012 and received an infraction for violating the rules and then in rapid succession you received others for how you addressed people on this board. Then you stopped posting. You then came back a participated in several BOI threads with other members.

When you had a disagreement with those members all of a sudden the BOI went down hill and it's the site's fault.

The biggest changes on FC took place a long time before you joined. In 2005 or so. It was a lot more like the wild west. You weren't here then. It's been mild since you joined.

There have always been people who state what you state every year.The biggest change here was to stop the profanity and overly abusive posts, people complained and stated fauna has changed and left. Nothing dramatically changed to make fauna a joke to you during your time here. You perceive it as such now because of your dealings with other posters. Instead of having a disagreement with others and addressing them, it's now the sites fault. It's not the sites fault you can't address other peoples posts without being overly abusive to them and violating the sites policies.

You didn't feel that way before your posts were addressed for doing such.

Other places? You mean like FaceBook? Thanks, but NO thanks.

And the reason that this site has not been updated is because it really doesn't need to be. This version of vBulletin is still the most stable forum based software out there, and still appears to do the job needed. But when the time comes, I certainly don't see it going to a FaceBook style format. I've spent enough time on FaceBorg to realize that I just don't like the structure and format there, and have no intention of becoming a copycat of that style.

Yes, traffic is down here, but I believe that is the case in nearly every other site on the net lately. FaceBorg, warts and all, has had that sort of impact. But that doesn't mean that everyone wants to, much less needs to, be assimilated.

Now, back to the topic at hand. You claimed that I (meaning this site as well) am being influence by the money Jim has spent to be a paid advertiser in this site. Care to back up that claim with some actual evidence and facts? Anything? I'll even make it easy on you to support your claim. Find ANYONE that has been treated better because they spent money here, or ANY instance of such an action being undertaken on this site by myself or the moderators. Heck, I've had people leave this site in a huff exactly because I could not be bought. This site has been in operation for nearly 13 years now, and we have over 100K registered members which includes an untold number of advertisers, paid sponsors, and paid memberships. With that much raw data available, your task of finding even one instance of what you claim should be a supremely simple one, don't you think?
