    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

This goes for a lot of people, my Legal name is Jesus as well, but I have always gone by Jessie. It is similar with going by "Joe" instead of Joseph. It is not a violation if you actually go by the name on your Fauna account.

If he went by Jesse since a child then how does the op know his real name? Probably because his ID say Jesus and needed to be able to cash the money order with his ID, which if I'm correct fuana wants your legal name. Not a nickname. And I would imagine that would be because of situations similar this. Tell someone a nick name, use a nickname on the site then no one can find you by your legal name. I would never guess someone who goes by Jesse would have the legal name Jesus. And since his fuana name is the nickname the op wasn't able to look up this person at first because we'll hey he used a nick name here and gave him his legal name.
 
Well* autocorrect. But some may not see that as important but I'd be a little upset if someone gave me a name I couldn't look them up under because they're using other names on the sites.

That being said, the OP could have just asked for a username, there is nothing wrong in asking that. And if no fauna account came up, then the OP could search elsewhere.

How? He didn't get a phone number till he posted here, the craigslist email was dead after the ad was deleted, yes he should have got everything he needed up front but sometimes you overlook things when you really want something. He was given basic information and then contact stopped and every Avenue of contact disappeared and he posted here.
 
being that this kid is local I know him. I can tell you that the snake did exist because he sold it at the San Diego show and the lady who bought it bounced her check. I will say that I honestly believe he will make it right. He is a good dude. I would totally believe this was a scam if I didn't know this kid. I think its only been a day since he responded and he is in communication about it, lets give him a couple days. To the OP, if he does not make it right, come see me and I will make it good. That's how much faith I have in this kid. Joe, contact me directly and let me know if your satisfied.
 
Look Craig, like I tried to tell you over txt id more then happy to give my little cousins number to joe can txt all he wants but we both agreed it would be pointless. What would he have to loose nothing. Like I said before I'm not trying to scam no one nor would I want to. And Elexis I never tried to hide my name or did I ever refuse any information that was asked by me. If i really tried to scam someone do you really think i would give my real full name? And a real address? No I'm sorry. I told joe i would show him proof of everything he wanted. i will show him my uncles id with his address nd name and my name and address to show we have the exact name. Along with my cousins school id or id if he has one to show he really is a person.

Here's the thing - Joe has made it clear that isn't interested in any of that. He just wants his money back. It's your name on the line - repay him, asap, and sort out your family affairs internally, on your own time, or you risk your name. You are the figurehead in this. Resolve it now and you can hope to salvage some respect. Right now it just seems like deflecting.
 
Hmm, I hope I don't have to eat my words but I believe him. If his intend was fraud, I don't think he would have used his real name. I don't think he would have readily made all the information available that he did upon contact from the thread starter.

Sure, someone trying to cover their butt might come up with a story like this and it has been done before on the BOI (more than a few times) but I'm trying to be less cynical and I don't see anything in this guy's history that shows he is dishonest.

Several people have come forwarded stating that he is a solid person to do business with and I believe them too.

So here's how I look at it. Nobody has anything to state bad about him before this transaction. When he was contacted he admitted it was his snake, contact information, email that was being used and his ad. He stated that he believed the OP was scammed and he knew by who.

There was no, I don't know what your talking about and leaving the buyer hanging with nothing.

He might not be telling the truth but it is possible that he is. I don't know for sure so like I stated earlier I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I think that's fair. I also believe that it depends on how this ends for the OP, how long it takes and how future transactions go.

Hopefully there will be a quick ending here.
 
Jesus, whether it was you, or your cousin, it is your name on the line.
Hopefully, you will have money to return, in full, to Joe.
If Joe does not receive his money back, it will, certainly, make people leery of doing any business, with you, and could earn you the title of scammer (justified or not). This is because, again, it is your name that was used and, as it stands, there is no proof that it wasn't you who did this to Joe.

But your reputation is on the line and until Joe is repaid it remains just that.....a nice story
I am sure you can see how words without substance are NOT going to help in the long run.
 
I am totally convinced now that The Jesus Perez I sent the money to, is not the same guy that goes by Jessie Perez. He sent me a lot of proof that his cousin jacked his ad and was trying to pull off a scam. He had his dad cash the check thinking he had sold a snake of his. Jessie talked to his uncle and got the money back from him and sent me $400. today for the snake and the shipping label. I will post the pic of it tomorrow.
Jessie is a good guy caught up in a bad deal. Thank You to everyone who helped me get it back.

Joe its a pity you got caught up in this but maybe a lesson learned in buying off craigslist, you need to get a lot more information before handing over your hard earned money

I am glad things turned out right. Like I said, he is a good guy and I had all the faith in him. We are just use to seeing the scams that we convict people before giving them a chance. Everyone was so fast to condemn him and then accused him of being on the defensive, when he was because he was innocent. I think something like this shows if they are talking then we should give them a day or two to make good or hang themselves. It's too bad that we can't come up with a set of standards that we all stand by, but when you hang a dollar in front of people, some find creative ways of getting it.

I've found some great local deals on CL but primarily for used enclosures. I would never use CL for a snake to be shipped to me.

Jessie also made a common mistake when selling used equipment, such as a phone or computer, that contains data: he didn't wipe it completely clean first. If you have a business this is doubly important and many people don't even consider it. We are carrying around more and more stuff in our mobile devices - customer lists, emails or text messages, even financial, tax, and credit card data, our own personally identifiable information - and that really needs to be protected.
