    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Mike Matson of Mike's Phat Frog is a scammer !!

It's funny how on Facebook Mike has a bunch of groupies who defend him no matter what. However, at a place like this where there are facts presented and it is unanimous that he is a bad guy, there are crickets from his crowd...
 
How old is this Mike? How old is his Father? Is their a third Mike Matson that would be the grandfather? I may have some things to ad to this. I know both of them well. Making sure I have the actors straight first.

In his texts, Mike Matson Jr. says his daughter was born when he was 22, and he later posts that she is 3 years old. So the Mike who is the subject of the thread should be about 25. I do not the know the age of Mike Matson Sr.
 
I believe the posts started on here about him when he was 19. He and his dad lived in Washington, Spokane I think(?) before both moving to California.
 
Spokane or thereabouts anyway. He apparently still has either family and/or business dealings in Washington, because he was talking about "stopping by" our place because he "does have the address" on his way up there earlier this year. Another of his all too typical thinly veiled threats.

After this post right here I realized why Mike and Ariel became lovers in crime. They think the reptile hobby is a sci-fi thriller that they both have to make characters up for. From fake profiles to arguing with themselves as a fake person with their real profiles (serious signs of schizophrenia :eek: ) in order to get people to believe their story ... Anyone who thinks this behavior is normal , excusable ,or of a productive member of society is very short of a competent functioning understanding of what normal is. Both of these people are in my opinion a threat not only to themselves but also any children around them and should be handled as so.

I see that behavior as fraudulent, not schizophrenic. And as such, there would be much wider agreement, I think, that he would be responsible for those actions, and held accountable.
 
I see the picture now. This Mike's Father seems like a decent guy. Everything I have purchased from him has been fine. He sells birds and dogs. The Mike Matson in these posts is beyond dishonest. I had posts about him a few years ago under a different thread. I purchased a female leopard tortoise from him for $500.00. I live in Seattle. He lived in Spokane. I told him when I was coming over to pick her up. Mike and my tortoise were no where to be found. I checked back postings. He had sold the tortoise that I purchased to someone in Florida. Since Mike is a complete slimeball, he had ads on other sites for Alligator snapping turtles which are illegal in Washington State. Laws do not pertain to little Mike. Since he had disappeared on me, I had someone else call on his ad and arrange a meeting. You thought he had seen a ghost when I told him who I was. He did not have the $500.00 with him, gee what a surprise. I took him into a store where he used to work and told him we would not be leaving until I had my money. He made some calls and assured me the money would be showing up soon. He tried more than once to escape from the store but I kept catching him and bringing him back inside. I am smaller and way older than JR, but he looked like a deer in the headlights. I was practicing my take down moves in my head since we seemed to be headed that direction. Unfortunately he made a break for it through a back door. By the time I got outside he had jumped in the getaway car. His girlfriend at the time, Francine, was driving the car. Mike JR. had been using her account to advertise animals. When I purchased the tortoise I thought I was dealing with a woman. If I had known it was little Mike, I would never have purchased anything from him since his reputation for being a lying thief was well established locally. Francine ended up trying to help me find him. Mike owes she and her family a lot of money. How anyone can defend him is beyond me. He ran from me probably peeing in his pants as he fled. His threats are all empty. I was starting to wonder about the negative posts about him since they seemed to be to the point of total outrage. I now understand. I would have turned him over to the Spokane Police, and that was my intent, but he ran like a rabbit being hunted down by a coyote. Mike JR. deserves nothing but scorn.

I think this might have been Mikey's grandfather. His own father is still kicking around on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100008281322907&fref=ts This would have been about the same time frame Mike Jr said he was traveling up to Washington and could stop by here on the way...
 
Im really not understanding how this is all part of the original order of frogs??? Why does his father play any part in this??
 
This is a thread about Mike Matson and his very bad business which makes him a bad guy, as well as his questionable (not really questionable) past dealings. His father has an apparent sketchy past too. BOI threads are not limited to one transaction.
 
No they are not limited to one transaction, but are to the dealer it is about. I dont see why shaking down the guys family tree holds any bearing here unless you have done a transaction with them.

Well, I don't have to admit to anything, but I'm not understanding your end game here.
So far, Mike has been painted as a fraud and a scammer. Often, when severe psychological difficulties are attributed to someone, people sympathize and tend not to be as harsh with them, excusing their behavior on account of their illness.
I cannot imagine that the OP is wanting to take this path.
Accusing and proving someone as a fraud and scammer places responsibility squarely on their shoulders. Are you saying that should not be the case here?

Whoa now, don't kill the messenger. Just because I pointed out that Mike, Jr. is exhibiting sociopathic vs. schizophrenic behavior does NOT mean I do not feel he is fully accountable for his actions. If you read back you will see that I have been burned by Mike myself (Rick, the OP, knows this) and I have no desire to see him getting away with any of this garbage.
 
There is sometimes a temptation to demonize people by saying they are mentally ill. But it is an illness.
Severe mental illness can in criminal cases allow a person to offer an insanity defense. That defense states that because of the severe illness, the person should not be held responsible for his acts during the time he was ill.
This thread was going along and many people stated Mike's business ethics were poor, he was fraudulent, and a Bad Guy.
I myself would not have clouded issues by bringing possible illness into it unless you feel deeply that it the case, with all that might go with it including the possibility of releasing him from criminal responsibility for his actions while he was ill.
Mental illness should not be a stigma, or a bad name to call someone. It is an illness.
