In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Painted Reptile Lied for Money

Im seriously trying to get past this, I know it was wrong and it wont happen again. Do not post my pictures online

Trying to get past it by trying to mislead other people into buying your mistake is NOT a good way to go. If you want to get past it, advertising the animal CORRECTLY. There are plenty of people in the reptile community that are willing to work with challenging species.

He has it posted on his personal Facebook page as well. He is willing to rip off friends and family.

I think there are two separate issues:

1) He bought a lizard that was not suitable for him even though he was advised against it - but he's young, who hasn't done that kind of thing? He's now trying to sell or trade it FOR THE SAME PRICE HE PAID, in the ad posted on here at least:http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=549316

I bought her for $60 you can have her for $60, deal?

so that he can get something more suitable. I don't see any problem with that - and no reason to come down on him like a ton of bricks as someone who needs to get out of the hobby. He's still learning.

2) He overreacted to the situation and posted an unnecessary "Bad Guy" thread with a very emotive title ("Lied for Money" does certainly not seem to be the case here), and of course this IS a problem, as this can harm a company's business, which is why there are such strong responses. Once more this should be a learning experience - hopefully at not too much damage to the seller, who is coming out of this as professional and sincere.

If anything, this should be a lesson in impulse control - research and think before you buy and animal (or anything really...), and think hard before you post a Bad Guy Thread that can really harm someone. But let's not jump too hard on this young guy (the OP) - hopefully he learns to select more carefully and stays in the community.

Reptileguy112 - I do think that an apology to the seller might go a long way - it's fairly apparent that the sale was legitimate and that you have overreacted by posting this as a "Bad Guy" thread - there is an "Info" option that would have been a better choice.

Do you know what narcissism is?

When you say something like "I know IT was wrong" vs "I was wrong".

When you say I know it was wrong, you are really saying, I am sorry I got caught. Not, I am sorry.

The only thing you seem to be sorry about is getting the backlash. You don't actually seem to be sorry about the behavior that caused it.

I am not saying you are a narcissist, or have narcissistic tendencies. But deflecting blame from the you to the subject shows us that you are really not sorry or believe you did wrong in any which way.

The fact that you are selling an animal, a life, in a manner that you considered dishonest and lying speaks volumes.

I will leave you with is. That little lacerta may only be in your world until you lie enough to flip it. But right now, her WHOLE world is you. I am going to stop before I say something I am going to regret.

He has it posted on his personal Facebook page as well. He is willing to rip off friends and family.
Could you post a link to the facebook page, I think some people may need to know about this thread.

You already have screen shots of that very thing. Posting his Facebook page does nothing, especially when he just goes and makes it private.

I am with Helenthereef that it shows his age. His behavior is unacceptable regardless, but he is very young and hopefully learns from this experience. The tone of the thread would be way different if he was over 18, or an adult.

While I can mildly understand the impulse buy and later rorse ( which is avoidable as everyone has a smart phone and can research things instantly...)

Drake, you do owe an apology for your knee jerk reaction in posting negative things about this seller in this forum and in others. That would be a good start. You were 100% responsible for purchasing that animal.oving forward and deceiving other potential buyers is not going to bode well for you either.

I made an account so I could see the evidence and Craigslist ad. About once every year or so I find a thread like this that I just can't put down. Anyway, I think the OP should keep the lizard... let it be a reminder... Every time you look in its cage you can think "oh yeah that reminds me of the time I shot my mouth off after an impulse buy and got rekt"

Give up the hobby? Psh... Naw, but seriously dude... Edit that ad and save face

^ Perhaps not, this will further stir the pot = )

Putting Fauna aside along all animals and such-

At what point do we as a society divide the difference between a kid and a adult in regards of a bad judgment call. The kid clearly botched this all around starting with the purchase of something he did no research on. Experience's remorse and, digs him self even deeper by handling it piss poor by miss leading this thread/all of us and the sellers reputation.

(As a Father or 3, i would allow my kids to take "some" responsibility for their actions- However, a bunch of strangers getting involved with my kid by posting all of what we can find of him- its a bit much) < my personal thought's.

Can he apologize, sure. Maybe contact the vendor on a personal note and make things right, absolutely... He is clearly reaching out by letting us know he screwed up and trying to move forward.

I would almost be inclined to agree; except for he's now trying to sell the animal and giving false information while doing so.

I don't see him accepting any responsibility in this since he's trying to "pawn off" the animal on another person who might be just as naive about the animal and believe him about the things he's said. Especially since he's the "seller."

I just hope he learns from this...And doesn't try to pull a fast one on someone else just because he screwed up.

The "false advertising" he is accusing the seller of in this thread is how he's advertising in his own ads....

I do understand he's a child, but it seems he a bit more conscious of what he's up to. At least that's my impression.

I agree.
The law actually has a special category for what they call 'emancipated minors' who are held accountable for their transactions.
Drake apparently, from his own fb page, works; and paid for this critter with his own money.
Is he emancipated? That is a legal decision, arrived many times in a case by case basis in accordance with state law and the facts of the situation. So by the facts presented we can't tell, and he should be treated with the utmost caution reserved for minors who can void their contracts.

The very way he went about trying to amend his situation- creating a bad guy thread and then trying to flip the critter by using the same sort of description he complained of in the thread, shows he is business savvy, although in a bad way.

His description that he 'is trying to do better' is wool pulled over the eyes of anyone who believes it, had he tried to do better he would not have created his deceptive ad.

This thread, and the picture of Drake, may serve to warn both future buyers and future sellers alike to avoid dealing with this person, at least until he lays down a track record of ethical dealings with both his prospective customers and the folks he has bought from.
