In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Info Derek Travis Mayhew / Inked Dragons (Bad Shipping)

Tom, at what $ threshold do you consider it appropriate to include all shipping materials and abide by the terms of shipping live animals? For a lower price is it also acceptable for you that an animal have undisclosed heath problems or blemishes? I'm having a hard time understanding the logic, and the hashtag nonsense and referring to your peers as kiddos isn't helping. Seems like you're just calling then noobs again without supporting your point. I don't get it? :shrug01:

You few should try selling high end pre-owned automobiles... It's very similar to livestock sales. Best of luck to you all! Lol.

I fail to see how this has anything to do with the issue at hand, and indeed I am unsure why you posted in my thread to begin with. Literally none of your posts have contributed anything to the discussion, and this last one doesn't even make sense. :shrug01:

I fail to see how this has anything to do with what this thread is about. You're comparing apples to oranges. And making yourself look bad in the process.

From what I gather out of your mumbo-jumbo; you think that if an animal doesn't cost an arm and a leg, then it doesn't deserve the same treatment when shipping vs. an animal that costs you to remortgage your house? How is this logical to you?

I'm sorry, but no matter what amount I spend on an animal, if it's getting shipped to me, then I EXPECT the seller to do his due diligence in making sure that the animal is properly packaged when sending it to me. It is not MY concern as a buyer if the seller doesn't market their animals in such a way to make a profit. It is my concern as a buyer to receive the animal in a safe manner.

It is also not my concern as a buyer if the seller loses money because they had to make sure that the animal was packaged correctly. That is the seller's job to make sure that they price their animals with leeway in there to accommodate all necessary costs to cover shipping and supplies. So if the seller skimps on such items and precautions, that's THEIR fault, not the buyers.

So with your input that you've added to this thread, you've just shown your thinking for such things, and seem to be laying all responsibility for the shipping costs and supplies on the buyer. Which isn't so.

But please keep adding your non-helpful 2 cents into this thread. Because you are only doing two things: Making yourself look like a fool, and helping everyone understand where your mind is when it comes to shipping animals.

:iagree: I wasn't quite sure why he was demeaning everyone in the thread by calling everyone "kiddos" and using childish things such as "hashtags" in a thread. But to each their own I guess...

I am pretty sure I have never heard such a load of old tosh from anybody before as Mr Pecanic seems to be dealing out!
COST OF ANIMAL HAS ZERO RELEVANCE TO HOW IT IS PACKED AND SHIPPED!
They are all living creatures entrusted to us to do what is right by them.
I have GIVEN snakes away and shipped them and the packing/ shipping I have done is IDENTICAL to ones I have sold in the thousands of dollars range!
And as a fyi, actual cost of stryofoam for an average size shipping box is less than one dollar!!!!
If you are saying that the less expensive animals do not deserve the same treatment then you should not be in this hobby at all
Maybe the high end auto sales is the right place for you after all!
You too have a great day Mr Pecanic!

Wow I'm glad she made it there safely!
It seems like Tom is just childishly trying to get attention. Anyone that reads this post, which can't ever be deleted will see his disgusting disregard for living creatures and can choose if they want to do business with him. Personally I wouldn't sell him a pet rock! Any living creature, free or $1,000,000 deserves the exact same respect and care when it comes to shipping. Hopefully he doesn't really believe what he is saying and is just trying to stir up some drama but either way it's been said and can't be taken back. You'd think a mature adult would think about that before posting/speaking.
Anyway back to the point of the post, I hope the seller comes here and explains himself and we can all share with him some valuable info on better ways to safely ship reptiles.

Holy cow, I've seen bad shipping jobs before but this is a first. Live animal just loose in the box. Very sad. Glad your dragon was unharmed. It's beautiful!

Some people should never ship animals! I have shipped tons of snakes the shipping box and bag cost the same regardless the price of the animal going in it! Only thing that makes them cost more is the size of the box and bag. Newspaper is dirt cheap add some to make them more secure so they don't bounce around. Good luck with the little one!

Thanks everyone. The dragon still seems to be doing well. She has eaten multiple times, had a bath, and is having healthy bowel movements. She did not respond negatively to gentle pressing on various parts of her body, and does not appear to have impaired movement, so I believe she may have escaped injury.

Paid $25 to be able to get you kids back! How'd dat be? ;)

Using the karma function in a retaliatory manner is not an appropriate use of that system. And under the circumstances, I thought this post was a "Particularly bad post", btw.

The $25 Contributor membership doesn't allow you to abuse functions of this site without repercussions. So, how you like "dat"?

Apparently your not the only one who received a poorly shipped dragon from inked dragons.

Thanks, I wish I had seen that previously. Apparently even the "very expensive" dragons don't get shipped properly, so Tom's theory about me not paying enough to warrant a good shipping job is moot.

It's a shame, because he actually does have very nice, healthy dragons. I have absolutely no complaints about the dragon itself. If he put the effort into shipping them safely, he'd undoubtedly be a very highly recommended breeder.

I alsoput posted a link to this thread on his business page asking him to please post here, hopefully he does! The review before the one about the shipping also says he incorrectly sexed the dragon, have you checked the sex of yours?

Since she's just a pet I'm sure it doesn't matter to you but at this point it's good that your checking. If incorrect sexing is a pattern as well I'm sure future buyers who intend on breeding will appreciate the heads up!
