One firearm, for all snakes, is
not the original deal.
The original deal was
two firearms for all snakes (including the one that did not get shipped to you).
Since the original deal could not work out (because, as it turned out, Alex is not legally able to own that/those firearm/s) a second deal had been struck (although, in the end, it did not work out since second deal was for a firearm that, again, Alex could not possess in his city/state).
This second deal was
one firearm for the snakes already in your possession (actually, for a "couple" less) minus the one that did not, originally, get sent to you.
It is this deal that Alex offered to go back to (with, apparently, no need to send any snakes back to him).
Alex posted proof that you were agreeable to that second deal when that deal was made.
Of course, a third/final deal had to be struck up, later, due to Alex's inability to own the firearm of the second deal.
Regardless, Alex wishes to go back to a semblance, of the second deal, that you had agreed to.
This would be another option, put to you, as a great resolution.
