In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

You guys are harsh. Sure the seeker is less than perfect, I'm just sharing my experience, and how it turned out well. Some of you guys are ruthless.

I'm not sure we've read the same thread? The buyer was sent sick snakes sent illegally through UPS using substandard packaging? The buyer is now spending unplanned money at the vet to get the snakes healthy, the seller has disappeared, and paypal won't refund the buyer his money unless he ships the snakes back? Not only is the buyer on moral high ground for not sending the snakes back to a place they would likely perish due to poor husbandry, but the buyer is sacrificing a refund by doing so.

If you think we're being overly harsh with the seller after all of this, I think we have vastly different opinions on what constitutes ethical business practices.

Board of inquires, have true Harsh thread's vs. what you are reading here. This is puppy dogs and kitty's by comparison.

Harsh, absolutely- Posting un-Healthy animals in desperate need of medical attention, shipping choice, negligence, lack of informing the buyer key info, irresponsible for leaving shipping box in a different vehicle (really), not knowing time zone's, not researching new buyers CURRENT forecast, forgetting he was shipping live reptiles vs. speaker boxes by the looks of it.

Yup, you nailed it HARSH AND RUTHLESS..............................

Im for the buyer for keeping these. One more thing, when they breed and produce a litter, i will be more than happy to make a purchase of 1.1 from him. So i know they came from a breeder whom actually value the welfare of his inventory/animals!!!

Jason, you accepting donation, to cove the bill ?????????

Thanks.

To clarify, you are expecting me to provide a poor review simply based on others' negative experiences, despite a positive experience myself?

I took it as Steve saying the response to his account (the relaying of his satisfactory experience) was harsh. Steve, correct me if I my interpretation is misplaced.

The negative experience can be valid. The positive experience can also be valid. They are independent events. I think both types of experiences are relevant. I would not want a person to avoid sharing a positive experience due to the "atmosphere" of a discussion that surrounds a negative event. That prevents access to additional data for a more complete picture. I also would not discount a negative event merely because there have been some positive experiences in other circumstances.

It does appear from implication that the packaging was inferior in both instances, but Steve would have to share more information regarding that for us to know more. I suspect it is a luck kind of thing. If all ends well with substandard packaging, that can be easier to overlook as the recipient (though I would say not all do). When substandard packaging fails to protect the contents adequately, we are naturally less forgiving (and there is all the reason in the world to be less forgiving in such a case).

My impression is that Steve may have gotten lucky here, but I think he should be welcome to share his story openly.

Hello Everyone.

Paypal Sided with me. They refunded me the money of the vet bill.

When I filed the claim, Alex escalated the claim and paypal said to ship him the snakes back. Since he escalated it to a claim i couldn't add anything to the case, so i called paypal and talked to them and told the the situation:

A) I spent an extra $135 on the snakes at the vet
B) It would cost me approx $200 to ship the snakes back to the seller
C) I wasn't going to ship the snakes back because of A + B + I didn't think it was in the best interest of the snakes as they were not 100% healthy and I was worried about their well being getting there and there well being after getting there.

Paypal reopened the case so I could add the vet bill as well as an explanation to what was going on.

It has been maybe 2 weeks or so since I have heard anything and today paypal sent me an email saying the case was resolved and they ruled in my favor.

So to those that say paypal won't cover animals, they did here. Maybe it's a case by case scenario. I am not sure, but I am happy with the outcome.

That's excellent news, Jason. I'm surprised Paypal covered it. Great documentation of the entire process from box opening to vet visit, I'm sure that made the difference.

I am very happy for you but at the same time absolutely shocked that Paypal would even talk to you about it and then agree to reopen case etc. That is DEFINITELY not the Paypal of old...or even not very long ago at all.
However that being said it is EXCELLENT news that can only help the herp community as a whole and obviously was a great help to you Jason.
Great job for sticking with it and taking Paypal on and seemingly coming out on top.

Shaking my head. Has enough time to dedicate to his wolfdog mixes but not enough to care for his snakes. For having such beautiful animals, you'd think he'd take care of them and keep them pristine?
That's who I thought this was, and I believe he is still on my Facebook. Just saw this thread and reading through it. I'll be sure to post the link and tag him in it.

Never mind, seems he deleted me and not sure why as I've never bumped heads with him. Hadn't seen his posts in a while but that's normalizing Facebook, they like to sensor what you see and from who. Have over 500 people but only see the same few peoples posts. Either way, I'll be sure people know.
