Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Wish I could get back the time I spent reading all of that.

So the seller is too busy to deal with sending the geckos properly and the buyer is too busy to respond to messages about doing the return. The seller is spending all week in the hospital and can't be bothered and the buyer is too busy taking care of sick dogs to have this as a priority. As far as I'm concerned you're both too busy to be worrying about breeding more animals right now.
Sick dogs and a sick grandma, I guess putting their health on hold is what should have been done? This comes off very insensitive. Sorry but if I'm in appointments I'll answer when I can. The health of my animals and family member in my care is priority. And it should be to anyone else.

If you can't juggle multiple things going on then you should reduce the number of issues you have. If you can't handle the responsibilities you have currently do you think it's a wise idea to be getting more animals?

Takes two seconds to respond to a text, if you don't have that much time then you surely don't have the time it's going to take to feed and clean an animal on a regular basis.

And sorry, but if I believed every sob story I heard I would cry myself to sleep every night. Everyone has excuses and they're just that. If you have things that need to be taken care of then take care of them, especially when they involve living creatures that depend on you for survival.

The seller came off as annoyed, probably because she has a ton of crap going on already and then this happened. She's frustrated with her helper and frustrated with the whole situation and took it out on the buyer which isn't right. But she also told the buyer to let her know when she shipped the animal back so that she could coordinate everything, and the buyer blew it off.

Unless you are in a coma or trapped in a well there is no reason you can't take two seconds to send a message. Both people messed up.

Did you even read those screen shots? The buyer didn't blow it off. The sellers partner or whoever debbie is apparently "cancelled" the shipping label because the buyer didn't have a chance to answer her right that second. Maybe you need to reread those again.

There are times I'm out shopping, playing with my kids, at an appointment and I don't her the ding of a Facebook message which those clearly are, does that mean I should be left without the animal I paid for because the seller is obviously so impatient?

Personally, I think the buyer was WAY more patient that I would have very been in this situation.
Not one, but TWO purchases in a row where she paid for an animal and never received the animal, only to discover later that the seller sold the animals to someone else....not professional by any stretch of the imagination imo.

I read all of them unfortunately. Shipping was set up to occur on a certain day. Debbie is the person at Reptiles Express who helps people out if there are shipping issues (I'm guessing but pretty certain). So basically the seller set up a whole thing with Debbie so that the buyer would be able to arrive at FedEx and have the label ready to go, but obviously has to have it happen when determined so that Debbie can help take care of it.

Also, YOU may want to re-read the messages. She still has the exact same gecko that she wanted genetically speaking, it just doesn't have the exact same pattern as the one she was supposed to get. The seller attempted to coordinate return shipping between three people, the buyer KNEW it was supposed to happen, and the buyer blew it off because of her "sick grandma".

I had a professor in college that said he hated teaching freshman level chemistry because it turned him into a killer. Everyone's grandmas would be perfectly fine, no sign of illness, and as soon as exam day came there would be half a dozen dead grandmas. Crazy how everyone in the buyer's life happened to get sick on the exact same day she was supposed to take care of it, isn't it?

If you know that you have something to take care of and are too busy playing with your kids or out shopping then apparently whatever it was wasn't too important to you. In this case it was swapping out the animals, so apparently that wasn't too important to the buyer.

The only reason she didn't get the first animal was due to a genetic defect that wasn't noticed until later on. A replacement was offered but declined and a full refund was sent. The buyer then agreed to purchase a different animal and a mix-up happened (a genetically identical but visually slightly different animal was sent). The seller agreed to fix it and set up shipping between three people and had the buyer flake out and come up with excuses as to why she flaked out.

I don't think the seller is in the right here but the buyer was just as responsible for getting this mistake fixed and dropped the ball. The seller did everything she could to make it easy to send back the animal and the buyer was too busy to take a second to even respond. I think she should have been more patient considering it was her mistake to begin with, but I can completely understand why she got frustrated and told the buyer to blow off.

I definitely think there were mistakes on both ends. I will address the same genetics, different animal thing since I work with leopard geckos. A holdback quality to one person will not be to another. It's not just the genetics, but the appearance of the animal. Pattern and color are both important when you are breeding for a certain look. So if it was me, I would be pretty upset to receive a different animal even if the genetics were the same. I think that both the buyer and seller could have handled things differently in this situation.

It's the same with most species as far as holdbacks are concerned. I'm just saying that the buyer had the chance to do an exchange and blew it off and gave excuses. I completely agree that both parties messed up, neither one is in the right here.

I agree. She shouldn't have blown off the exchange. I would have worked with the seller to get things right. Both people really need to take the blame for their wrongdoings in this situation.

But hadn't the buyer been trying to get the seller to make an exchange for days, and then received a text message (that she didn't read immediately) that spsaid she HAD to do it "now or never"?
How many people can just drop everything they are doing without notice and go deal with a seller's mistake?

If that's the case I didn't catch it, and there's NO way I'm going through those messages again lol. I was under the impression that it was getting set up and ready to go and the buyer knew to expect it. I may have misinterpreted though.

I don't see how the buyer did anything wrong here. The seller set up a shipping label with very tight time constraints WITHOUT verifying that the date/time would work for the buyer, then decided to cancel the whole thing when the buyer didn't respond immediately. I'm sorry, but some of us have jobs where we aren't on internet access all day long, or might be driving or otherwise engaged. Just because someone doesn't get the chance to respond to a given message within minutes or an hour doesn't mean they are too busy to have animals. Also, the seller should never have arranged a shipping label without verifying that the date/time of shipping would work for the buyer. I for one have a busy work schedule- I work 48 miles from my house and my commute is 1.5-2 hours each way. I work a minimum of 8 hour days, 5 days/week, sometimes weekends too. So if I was trying to get an issue worked out with a seller, I would be furious if the seller decided I had ONE SHOT to do shipping without checking with me first. I would need advance warning to get time off from work or arrange my spouse or neighbor to help out.

In my opinion, the buyer has been more than patient, and the seller is being entirely unreasonable. However, in the end the buyer did get a refund for both geckos, and got to keep the misidentified gecko with the genetics she originally wanted. So, she didn't get a completely raw deal: she has essentially a free gecko. It's not the gecko she wanted, nor the one she paid for, but it is a gecko with the correct genetics. The seller handled the situation unprofessionally and rudely, but she did end up issuing a refund.

I read them again, the buyer replied to the seller the same day but she had already had Debbie cancel the label. If you're unwilling to reread them why argue about what's in them?

There's no time stamps to see how much time passed between when the seller first messaged demanding the buyer answer her and when the op finally got the chance. But it was all the same day so it's not like the buyer didn't answer her for a day or 2.

And obviously you just want to argue. "If you're too busy playing with your kids or shopping" are you kidding me? Did you even read where I said sometimes I just don't hear the ding of the messanger? You basically said my kids or shopping for food for them is less important than an animal. How about cleaning cages? If I'm doing that I'm not going to stop what I'm doing to reply to a message, it can wait a few minutes or an hour or so. The seller never told her a time she had to answer by. The seller set everything up and had it canceled the same day because the buyer didn't have a chance to read and reply yet. If you're that impatient of a seller and don't iron out exact details before you just go ahead and create the label maybe you shouldn't be shipping animals?

She only got a refund for ONE gecko and that's because the seller didn't notice a "defect" until she was about to ship.

You beat me to it...sort of...I didn't want to say anything until I went back and double checked, but I was struggling with the idea of going back and looking through the "wall 'o post"! LOL

Oh, I must have misread. I was under the impression that the purchase for the gecko with the double-jointed leg was refunded, then when the seller sent the wrong gecko in the second order, she eventually refunded that purchase too.

The seller ~said~ she was going to refund the mis-shipped gecko, but then she changed her mind...

It is rather disappointing to me that the seller, who claimed that the OP was lying and leaving out pertinent information, never returned to defend her business. I wonder why that is?
