In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Alex Estrada - Imperial Geckos misrepresented tortoises for sale

He is actually viewing the thread right now!
Please scroll all the way down (past my reply windows where you see my typed reply), Imperial geckos is the 4th name listed from the left. He is well aware of this thread and has been on here multiple times since it was posted.
That is enough for me to stay far away from him.

His avoidance of this thread screams of his guilt. One can only surmise he knew they were not cherryheads, yet advertised them as such, therefore he is dishonest and a scammer.

marku1999 - I held him accountable before you bought the one that you did and he replied and actually said those tortoises came from Brazil.

I know a dealer that sells on here that gets his redfoots from a breeder 'friend' that I have a few Bolivian redfoots from. This breeder is a nut when it comes to keeping his different locales separate - I mean he would go ballistic!!!

99% guaranteed - that redfoot you have is pure Northern -
[ North of the Amazon river ] ! The dealer is in Miami.. what a coincidence huh ???

Shortly after we had our 'encounter' he deleted the ad...

No response in this thread, he hasn't contacted the buyer saying that he's willing to rectify this, no proof that the breeders in Brazil are selling Northern Redfoots as Brazilians (I've been to their website and all that I see are pictures of 100's of Brazilian redfoots at least as of the last time that I looked at it which was around 2 months ago). The longer that this drags on without resolution the worse that this looks on the seller IMO.

I think the seller may be avoiding posting, hoping that this fades quietly away. Indeed it may go away quicker than if there was a lot of posting back and forth, but it also goes away with the seller looking really, really shady.

The silence speaks volumes and I wouldn't do business with him at this point.

That's at least the 2nd post that I've seen stating as much. I really hope that the buyer updates this thread multiple times if the issue has not been rectified by that time.

I still have not received a response. I will be sure to continue to post updates.

I tried to leave negative feedback for him as a seller, but it says I don't have permission to do so. Does anyone know how to do (or correct) that? I have been a member for several years and have a few posts, I am not a new member at this point.....

Also, is there any way to have a good guy certification re-visited?

You have to be a paid member to leave feedback. Click on the coins on my post and it brings it up.

Thanks, I hope that he resolves the issue but IMO if he would've had any plans on making amends it would've happened by now. The best that you can do is keep this thread going and leave negative feedback. Anyone that ever uses the BOI and plans on buying from him will get to see this thread from a simple search.

Terry, this thread is not about you. Knock off the look-at-me show-and-tell. Ample examples have been provided. And stop breaking the attachment rule for images to boot.

Finally found the rule Nick - Addendum - 10-26-2014 - New infraction added. Won't happen again.

Rest assured.. at my age I sure don't need any "strokes" - misunderstand / am misunderstood... enough as it is...

chelonian parkour skills

First of all, that is one of the best lines I've ever read here.

It's really too bad that this doesn't seem like it's going to work out in the OP's favor. Fortunately the animals appear to be healthy enough to resell, so there is some saving grace in this.

Trying to stand behind "all sales are final" is a joke. This is as bad as sending someone a female when they expected a male, maybe even more so.

At this point, it doesn't matter if the mislabel was intentional or ignorant. The way he conducts business is at the forefront, and so far he's incompetent at identifying what he sells, and unwilling to make things right after he's made a clear mistake. A one way ticket to a "bad guy" thread.

It's very unfortunate that the seller was willing to quickly try to shoot down the claims that these were not Brazilians in the for sale thread even from someone as knowledgeable and experienced as Carl May, yet he is now nowhere to be found in this thread. Is it at all possible to carry over those conversations to this thread since that thread is no longer around? At least that will allow some insight into the seller's position and claims since he seems content not to say anything himself.

I would strongly advise EVERYONE to stay clear of this seller.

I opened a claim in paypal and he is still claiming it's a cherry head even though it has been proven and over in this thread (and one of the original ads) that it is not.

I really hope people see this and stop buying from him.

Here are the comments on the case so far (newest at the top)

9/8/2017 14:26 EDT - Buyer: The animal I purchased is not as described, it was labeled as a cherry head which it is NOT. I have provided ample proof of claim to seller, but seller not willing to exchange or refund.
9/8/2017 14:24 EDT - Buyer: Except it is not a cherry head. Misidentified/ not as described.
9/8/2017 14:21 EDT - Seller: Item(Unique Colored Cherry Head Red Foot Tortoise) was exactly as pictured and described. I have already responded stating our policy on returns and refunds.
9/8/2017 12:36 EDT - Buyer: Seller sent the wrong item, I have requested a refund from seller who is not responding.

I doubt PayPal will honor your claim for the following reasons. First of all, you still have the tortoise. Secondly, PayPal is not a favorable recipient of animal claims .

Apparently the seller does not care. Your only recourse is to try and resell the tortoise if you can or keep it. This louse still continues to advertise here as well as Kingsnake. Thats the sad thing about it. Their avenues should be cut off. Then you would get a response.

PP may also decide for the seller since he did send the animal pictured in the ad.

How did you back up your PayPal payment? If you used a credit card then you have recourse through them as well. If you used your checking account or PayPal balance then you're stuck with PayPal's decision.

Not sure if it would be worth your time to point PayPal to this thread because anyone that claims that those animals are Brazilian is either ignorant to Redfoot locales or full of it and trying to sell another cheaper locale for Brazilian Cherryhead money. Maybe he could have the people that he bought the animals from speak up for him and try to convince us that they are Brazilian Cherryheads so that we can shoot their opinion full of holes and so that they can also be lumped in with this seller. Regardless of the outcome from PayPal, anyone that reads this thread will know exactly what this seller is all about so it will cost him a lot more in sales than it would've cost him if he did the right thing and took the animals back and refunded you.

You loose ! it makes no difference while you are holding the tortoise and expect PayPal or the credit card company to accept the chargeback .

Thats why these businesses set up there TOS with making sure you pay for the shipping back. A perfect example is Big Apple Herps. same MO. You certainly can file a claim, but the question will come as to where is the merchandise. While in your possession, its yours. This would even hold true if the items in question came DOA. Claim or no claim.
