In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Turtlesandtortoises inc did me wrong

Instead of this getting all side tracked by potentially unfounded accusations.

Why don't you both take screen shots and post them here? I am not going to take either of you at your word alone and I highly doubt the rest of the BOI would either.

I have asked the OP to do this several times, yet there is still no screenshots of the communications.

I sent Jay (Turtles and Tortoises) an email about this thread and within minutes, he was here responding. If you follow the link provided, the OP seemed happy about his purchase 2 days ago.

From the OPs own words, the damage was disclosed & he got a really good price on the tort. Shipping delays happen during the holiday season, so that should have been expected. I personally would've held off shipping till after the new year.

Thread with messages posted before and after receiving the tortoise.

He also said that if I have any questions he would be glad to help. And yes I had a few and he a cowered (answered)
most of them and text or talk he was there after the purchase

This statement is contradictory to what the OP said here.
The word in red is what he meant to say, reference the SS to see.

Did you request photos of the deformity before you purchased? Just asking, because if I am agreeing to purchase an animal with a known deformity, I would want to see what I was getting into ahead of time. Todd

He did not request photos of the imperfections but they were clearly described over the phone so there would be no confusion at all. Once he had received the tortoise on Saturday morning, he posted on Fauna how happy he was, we spoke on the phone plus exchanged texts for a few days and he even sent me a photo of the tortoise in his new home. Only today, Wednesday has he decided he is not happy with the tortoise. I have offered a full refund once returned but that was not accepted.

Jay, if you have any screen shots of the conversations that would help seal the deal that the OP is being unreasonable.

But, based on what both of you have posted, I believe you Jay, not the OP. An OP who gets hostile when questions are asked is a huge red flag. These type of attack threads with no proof and angry responses to basic questions almost always end up a thread that turns around on the OP, who gets soundly walloped by reason and evidence and ends up on people's 'Do not sell to' lists.

That is a nice looking turtle, I'd think he would be delighted that the imperfection to the shell was not genetic, especially if he had thoughts of breeding years down the road.
You've offered a refund, hopefully he will not be one of those people who try to take advantage and think they can get cash and keep the animal.

This is exactly what I started thinking, especially since his replies have been less than forthcoming.

I also received a message from the OP.

I just want to delete my account as I have no further use or need to be here or to have my profile posted here.

Its okay as I no longer do business with unscrupulous people like haha reptiles, Reptilecity and Turtlesandtortoises. No excuse me when I say I will shed no tears over your lame site

Above quotes are in the Feedback Forum. To me, his pleading to the site owner for the erasure of his account and immediate subsequent name calling of the site shows again how he easily bites the hand he is trying to get food from. I would not do business with him unless he clearly demonstrates a change for the better.

This seller is not telling things the way it happened, I was happy at first but upon further inspection I realized it was not as he said, "a slight defect, that it was NOT an accident...WRONG! It was an accident! And as far as FedEx, I text him a d told him that FedEx said the ball in in his court! I asked him for a some credit or partly refund it. He never answered. Who's telling lies now
David, the seller has offered you a refund. you are not coming off as the good guy here. my advice is to take the refund and stop the crying!

David Salas, you contradict your own complaints with a post you created on this very website indicating how pleased you were with the tort. Then you decide to throw a tantrum when you discover that the seller is not responsible for shipping costs or delays. I'd be trying to deactivate my account too if I were you. It's not a complex concept to wrap your head around the fact that shipping is unpredictable, especially during the holidays and once an package leaves the seller they lose control over when FedEx gets your location. You got what you paid for, you were happy with the tortoise and the outstanding customer service (your words). You already got a great deal on the animal but clearly $49 is huge for you and you thought you had a card to play. Now that you've been educated it's time to drop it, there still may be time to apologize for your rude behavior and misdirected accusations and keep your name from getting dragged through the mud any more than it already has.

I'm reading two different sound pitches in the OP's posts. They sound like buyers remorse and scammer. To me that is a nice looking animal, that you received with an awesome price. If the seller disclosed to you there were "deformities" with the shell, you should have asked for pictures. Maybe you were just happy to get a kick butt deal, and the excitement may have got to you and you forgot to ask (I know it happens, because it happened to me), however you didn't. The seller offered a refund if you sent the animal back, that's very professional, and more than you would get from some other sellers. Take the offer, and go get a new animal.
