In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Due to divorce, I have an Alligator Snapper and a Common Snapper for sale, and a 200 gallon acrylic aquarium.

The Alligator Snapper is a 7 inch carapace length female now 4 years old purchased from John Richards and Loggerhead Farms. I would like to get $200 for her and have her go to a good home. She exhibits no ill health and is active and typical for the species. She shares a split 200 gallon tank.

My Common was set to be released in May 2020 here in Iowa and will be 7 years old. He is about 7-8 inches, super fat and desirable orange pattern Common that was a highway rescue at quarter length size. I would like $50 for him, and same conditions - need to go to a good solid herpetologist collector.

The tank is not likely to get much traction but was purchased precisely for my Alligator Snappers growth. I have a total of 5 filters, 2 of the German expensive heaters and at least 250 pounds of sand and rock in there.

I have $1500 in the tank and am getting no interest on Craigs List. Comes with a serious 2 x 6 framed oak base - set up for fish with the middle for filter but would be fine for up to a 30 to 35 pound Alligator Snapper with shell length in the 20 to 25 inch range. Alligator Snappers take a lot less water than Commons.

My Common is a beautiful orange pattern turtle and easily worth what I am asking. I just need to get these turtles new homes so I can sell, give away or dismantle / cut up the $3500 original price aquarium and $500 custom fit oak stand and all accessories. Call Bryan with interest at 515-201-8490 or email at [email protected]

Just FYI, it is illegal in Iowa to sell native reptiles, including common snappers.

Releasing a captive herp is a highly contentious practice, but not regulated by law in Iowa as far as I am aware.

Gifting native herps to a good home or rescue might be the most responsible and legal option.

would you ship?

I might ship to a southern destination after the Christmas rush. I have a friend who owns a UPS store and would use his advisement. You would have to pay for overnight live delivery. If you are at my area (Iowa) I would not want to ship to a colder area this time of year.

Interested I’m in Iowa

Thank you for your interest. I need to know next steps as I need to rehome these 2 turtles so I can drain the tank and make it available for removal or cut it up for disposal.

Unfortunately with a divorce, time is ticking. Just let me know and I can meet you closer to Bettendorf. She is a sweetheart. She eats fish and pellets well.

I appreciate the preaching, I'm clearly not at your level of knowledge, despite working on new legislation in Iowa to reign in the Snapping Turtle harvest season.

Holy cow. Relax.

You're a new member here, first post. I was trying to give helpful information -- not many people know native wildlife laws.

Since I don't know you from Adam, I don't have a clue why you'd take basic advice as such a trigger. Sorry, sincerely. Good luck with the sale.

I'm in Nebraska I would like to take them off your hands. I would definitely give them a great home. I have 3 snapping turtles right now.
