As for the rest of it...I don't think I'm being exceptionally lazy by not reading 200 pages worth of text to try to find a handful of complaints. I quite simply don't have the time or mental energy for that. My initial complaint was about the noise to data ratio in this thread, and that complaint remains pretty legitimate--there's no way anyone can find anything in this mess. I have even been reading this thing nearly every day, and I still couldn't keep up with it. It's absurd.

You dont think that the last... oh... fifty or whatever posts are because of the things YOU said!? So whos REALLY adding to this Absurd mess?

David's complaint was that the amount agreed on over the phone was not the same as the amount you stated in your e-mails to him.
If David is just outright lying, fine. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt, at least at first. If he isn't lying, and YOU aren't lying, then obviously there was a miscommunication going on.

Just how many lies is a person allowed to state before they loose that benefit?
Even Tosha called him a probable liar but still supports the position of giving him the benefit. How many lies does it take for you?

It's not a law, it's company policy.

UPS company policy is to NOT ship snakes. However, FEDERAL LAW in the form of the Lacey Act requires packages containing snakes to have full disclosure of their contents noted on the box. Shipping a box that is NOT marked per the Lacey Act IS breaking the law. But if you properly mark your box to be legal within the law, then UPS will not accept it (due to their company policy of not shipping snakes).

I agree...my post was directed at the comment he that basically stated ;
Regardless of how the box was labeled, it is illegal to ship snakes via UPS.
It's not illegal to ship snake via UPS, its just a UPS company policy.

Uh oh. Now Allen is going to be REALLY mad at me...remember, he didn't want this thread to beat out his. LOL.

Just out of curiosity, what is the record for the fastest growing thread on here? If you look at the dates of some of the "big dog" posts, it has taken a long time to get where they were. This one has taken 13 days.

Call it morbid curiosity, and I would ask if I was not one of the parties directly affected by the situation.

In my little corner of the world we believe people are innocent until proven guilty, the burden of proof lies with the accuser and that you have a right to silence without the presumption of guilt. I am aware that in other parts of the world and the BOI those luxuries are not shared, but in mine that’s how we tend to think.

I don’t feel comfortable condemning someone based on no/circumstantial evidence. I believe in extending the same courtesies to others that I would expect for myself and that due diligence should be done.

IMO - What it comes down to is lack of proof. Both parties have admitted that negotiations were held via phone and by doing so they both left themselves open for problems to occur. The e-mails do not mention a dollar figure or any mention of agreed upon services prior to it clearly being a problem. He says she was all over the board with figures and services and she maintains it was the same price throughout – both saw the deal as the train wreck it was and yet no one bothered to put anything in writing and that is just bad business on both ends. In all honesty since we don’t see a dollar figure until too late in the game it really does bring into question if there was a set price or not. After-the-fact, one way emails don’t constitute proof – show me where he agreed to pay x amount, by what date, for what services and I’ll happily accept that.

To further muddy the waters the nit picking began as it usually does. Very few of which are actual BOI offenses versus grasping at straws and witch-hunt tactics. If you have facts to present then present them otherwise the whining about trivial stuff like your posts still appear on his forum after you cancel your membership is just insane.

Now grant it – he came off on the wrong foot with his original reply – and then followed it with a backhanded apology. As well it appears that he lied about the Paypal requests – but I’m told it’s quite easy to remove and add email addresses from one account to another and they could likely have used another account to send them from. But that is neither here nor there - none of this really bodes well for his case – but neither does it mean he is guilty as charged. The issue is whether or not he backed out of a contract or if undisclosed issues arose between the parties verbal negotiations that warrant his actions. Obviously early on there were red flags and cause for concern and based on what both parties stated neither was happy with how things were working out -- and yet neither party stopped to think about putting something down in writing and following through with it. As such IMO it appears both parties are at fault of a poorly planned and executed business deal.

And apologized for it. It wasn't directed entirely at Dennis, but at a whole slew of people making similar posts. I was probably off-target on that one.

But there is a vast difference between finding a bit of information like that which is in plain view on a site, and digging things out of 200 pages worth of bickering.

During this apparent conversation you had with Mr. Young, did you give him an acceptable timeline that you felt was justified for him to come to me and work things out? I ask you AGAIN how long does he get compared to other people that are called out on the BOI?
And what, may I ask, financial hardships do I have according to Mr. Young? From your post, it appears you have had a recent conversation with him, and if I am wrong, I apologize. And if he wants to spout off the "she threw her kids and new marriage up" as a reason again, just because I have a large family does NOT mean I have financial hardships.
As far as his stance that things will eventually die down, has he not figured out that I am NOT going away with this? He really feels like he does not know ANYTHING, even after coming here and admitting to owing SOMETHING? It looks to me that he thinks I am some dumb redneck who will just fade into the background and go away quietly, but he is COMPLETELY WRONG!

Why do I get the feeling that it ranks right up there with the missing e-mails that David said he would produce, or, the alleged PayPal payment requests that we've yet to see hide or hair of.

FOLKS, FOLKS, FOLKS!!! I just finished reading and have come to a conclusion:

David agreed to accept services from Matt and Kelly in exchange for compensation. After stating that he was sending out a check, he completely broke off communication. He made a brief appearance here, where he called the OP a liar insulted the members here, and posted some fake e-mails. He has chosen not to offer any evidence to contradict that which has been posted by the OP. He has no plan to resolve this issue publicly OR privately, which makes him a BAD GUY!!!

Just about everything else posted in this thread (with the possibility of a few other complaints on customer service), is a distraction, IMO.

Entirely true, and if the snake arrives at its destination without a problem, then she's legally used UPS to ship a snake. But taken an awfully big risk with the welfare of the animal, as UPS could have stopped the package anywhere along the way, since it violated their TOS.

With that logic... it is legal to smoke crack so long as I dont get caught...

But the point that is trying to be made is..... UNTILL you read the whole thing... you can not make an imformed opinion reguarding alot of what has been said in this thread.

I came into this about 5 days behind... and honestly it took me about 4 hours to read thru everything to get caught up. One thing that helped was I changed the number of posts per page in my profile.

Please start from the beginning.... chances are you will prob agree with everyone then. If you dont... then at least you have all the info to make an imformed opinnion.

Well, the longest thread looks to have lasted about 4 years. The shortest is 13 days. The second shortest is 25 days.

All in all, If we are just comparing the top 15 folks, Reptster does have the record for fastest growing thread with Rick Leverock and Dan Scolaro coming in 2nd and 3rd and Bruce Eisenmann coming in dead last. Ball Park figures below.
