    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

If money is an issue...you were advised wrong. You are evading police and it is a class b misdemeanor (on top of your other charges). The fine is roughly $2,000 (on top of that which you do not have), or a jail term not to exceed 180 days (on top of that which you could be sentenced to stemming from the other charges), or both should the judge decide.

In any event, you can forget about bail - I mean that's just out the window at this point. No matter who you are able to get to defend you, no matter how good they are, you will not get bail. This is why most people who live on the fringe of illegal activity have a good lawyer on retainer and a nice chunk of change set aside for bail money.

You are only prolonging the inevitable and making a bad situation for yourself worse. It would be smart of you to turn yourself in now.

By what you are saying what good can come from me turning myself in now when I no attorney. The court can appoint me one hat will have no desire to work my case and I'll get screwed even more. I'll wait till I retain my own attorney!

From the sound of it you are making up excuses not to do the responsible thing. You obviously have some funds or you would have no place to stay, no food to eat, no cable TV, no computer to play on or an internet connection.
If you are not guilty of any of the crimes you have been accused of then there is no reason not to turn yourself in.
If you are guilty of any of the crimes you are accused of the you are just another criminal on the lam. Also I highly doubt that any Officer of the Court would tell you to be irresponsible and run from the law until you could turn yourself in on your own conditions.

You replied that you had to find out if you had a ride down, but you seemed interested in doing the show. Yes, I had contacted you orignally via RG about doing the show, but this was WELL before I knew you had legal issues. Unfortunately I do not have the original contacts, but I do have this...

I would also like to going out that you were aware of my legal issues prior to 12/04 in fact I think you may have posted a reply in this thread back when it started or pm'd me about it. The main reason for not wanting to be a vendor at your show is the low attendance of people you told me went through the door.

The good thing is that you'll be able to learn how to read and write coherent sentences in jail, dumbass.

I don't know Steve, but if I was in this type of trouble, owing people money, wanted by the police, facing jail time , needing a lawyer etc. and I was in possesion of some valuable reptiles (or anything of value) I would certainly be selling everything off to raise funds to take care of the above! I don't know what type of collection Steve has but if you sold everything at half of current market value I'm sure it could raise some cash, even in a down economy... I know it would suck to give up projects you may have worked with for years but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do to help yourself.


Also, since it looks like Steve may be possibly facing at least some jail time, I sure hope he has a good plan in place for whatever animals he has in his posession to be cared for in his abscence .

The advice I'm about to offer you is the same that I would give any of my family & friends. It's based on my personal observations of similar situations with a few of my close friends.

Whether you are guilty as charged or not, after being on the lam for several months already and you still don't have the money needed for an attorney, it's very unlikey that you will be able to come up with it anytime soon.

Honestly, Steve - you'd be much better off to go ahead & turn yourself in. Life on the lam is no fun. One of these days they will catch up with you. Either by surprise or a simple little slip up from you. Then you will abruptly go to jail.

Say your goodbyes, make sure all of your belongings will be taken care, and turn yourself in, face the situation head-on, and be done with it. There's nothing fun or peaceful about living your life constantly looking over your shoulder while trying to buy more time. You're actually wasting time.

Yes, you may have to settle for a court-appointed lawyer, a Public Defender. There are some lame ones but there are more good ones that are seeking a way to make a name for themselves in order to get a better job with a well-known firm. I've personally seen more good, eager Public Defenders in action than I have lame ones. If you don't feel your court-appointed lawyer is worth a hoot, you can request, and usually get, another one.

The charges that you are facing, at least the ones that I'm aware of, are not violent crimes. Jail space is needed & pretty much reserved for violent offenses. The sooner you turn yourself in the sooner you stand a chance of being able to get a reasonable bail or possibly even electronic-monitored release (ankle bracelet home confinement). The longer you stay on the lam, the harder it will be to get either of those.

Personally, I'd much rather do 6 months in jail than 1 year constantly looking over my shoulder while on the lam. Your situation isn't going to just go away. You should really consider putting it away - go on and face it, get it behind you, be done with it.

How many more searches are you going to subject Becky or any other family & friends to? Have you given much thought as to how your being on the lam has & will affect other people? Especially those that you love & care for?

Think about it.

This will get into

the hands of the Marshalls and when Steve least expects it, he will be apprehended. Thats a given and just a matter of time.. Any bail will be revoked and the incarceration will be greater. Whatever befalls Steve, is basically a self inflicted avenue that surprisingly has not come sooner.

I tried to tell him that earlier, but he seems to think his fate hinges on being able to hire a competent attorney.

The best alternative would be making a cash sale that would be enough to pay my attorney fees rather than accepting a public defender but there is good
evidence that supports my case. What scares me is the corruption that already exists. If you can add 2 + 2 you can clearly see that things are fishy and don't make sense.

as it has its merit, is a little late at this point short of walking into a police station and giving yourself up as a fugitive . As a point of information, if any of these charges have been upgraded to a felony, then I am sure an indictment will follow probably after the new year..

This time there will be no bail if a warrant was issued for a fleeing felon. Its amazing how someone can compound there miseries, and have it discussed here in the BOI.. This really is no longer about a good guy or bad guy thread. What we have here no longer belongs here ! I hope the powers that be lock the thread so we can move on to more productive problems in the herp industry then concern ourselves with this nonsense.
