In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Cody Snider - [email protected] - TERRIBLE!

I don't mean this to sound rude, sorry if it does..

Have you kept caiman before?

Does it show any agression towards you if you're close (mouth gaping, attempts to bite etc)?

Thats not rude. Yes I have. He'll only open his mouth if something touches the side of his mouth. And he'll only atempt to bite if you stick something directly in his mouth.

hmmm thats a bit worrying

People who've never kept caiman before cna be surprised at just how inactive/quiet they are. An how little agression they can show unless bothered. that does sound a little extreme though, he still should be trying to bite if he feels you're "in range"

best of luck with him.

Well the first attempt at force feeding went well. One fish right down the gullet without too much "forcing"

However, your claim that what he did is illegal by shipping it via USPS is wrong unless the specific guidelines are not met (being under 20 inches):
USPS: DMM 601 Mailability
"9.3.3 Small Cold-Blooded Animals

Small, harmless, cold-blooded animals (except snakes and turtles) that do not require food or water or attention during handling in the mail and that do not create sanitary problems or obnoxious odors are mailable (e.g., baby alligators and caimans not more than 20 inches long, bloodworms, earthworms, mealworms, salamanders, leeches, lizards, snails, and tadpoles). " QUOTE]

Thats an interesting bit of information... I got in a bit of trouble a few years back for shipping a baby alligator via USPS (long before I knew any better).:shrug01: they must have changed rules... Well when I let him know about this post ill be sure to change gears on that position.

As far as proof of everything, I have all of that. Including a copy of the ad that states "179.99 shipped overnight" right in the title portion.

Thanks for the info and the compliments. Just in the last 2 hours or so its been slowly showing more and more signs of recovery. So far so good....

Interstate transportation of all Alligator mississippiensis was illegal until recently due to USWF laws.... so maybe that's why... they7 used to be protected

Well, it didnt make it. Got a call from my wife while I was out of town for a day to tell me it died. Thanks to all those that were concerned...

That really sucks. I was really pulling for the little guy. At least he was in caring hands when he died.

Yeah after force feeding, it seemed to be doing better. And by better I mean moving himself from the water to the land on his own. I dont really know what happened.

Not sure but all he said was that the was getting out of reptiles all together. His excuse to me about his shipping was that he had shipped other things like that with no problem from the recipient. So there you go....

What a jerk. That's crazy. Why though. Why would you sell a pet then pretty much go out of your way to kill it? I don't get that. Do you think this guy could possibly have been so stupid that he thought that one little heat pack was going to do the trick? Poor baby. Thats awful

I didnt read the whole thread so I apologize if this has been mentioned. He said it arrived DEAD? How do yo know it wasnt DEAD when he sent it? That way he isnt out a LIVE animal and still gets the $$?

Again. if this has been mentioned I apologize..Screaming headache prevents me from reading pages of small print right now.

It was BARELY alive when it was received by the OP. It came around some but never fed on it's own, and took a fish(?) by "slight" force-feeding. It then passed a few weeks later according to the OP.
Very sad.

Ive had probably the worst experience Ive had to date when itr comes to purchasing reptile...

Started off just fine with plenty of communication. I was buying a smoothe-fronted caiman from him. Emails back and forth and finally decided on a price and shipping date. I was told that it would be shipped this past Monday (29th I belive) for an arrival the following day. I asked if I could get the tracking # when he shipped and he said fine but never sent it.
The next day comes and goes and no shipment. So I email him Tues. morning about what was going on and he informs me that it will be here Wed. I again asked for the tracking # and he said fine but never sent it.
Well it arrived today. Im at work when my wife calls me to inform me that it is DEAD. I asked what the box said as far as how it was shipped. He actually shipped it USPS "priority", which takes anywhere from 2-3 days. No wonder he wouldnt give me the tracking #... Keep in mind its the dead of winter, he's from Michigan I believe and Im in Ohio.
The box was had absolutely no insulation. He just threw it in a box. Not in a bag or any sort of container. Just threw it in a box with a handfull of shredded newspaper and some sort of "shirt". It had a piece of shredded paper stuck to the "aqualid" (sorry, dont know the technical term) of his eye. The only thing that made any sense was a heat pack that was in there, but even that was an 8 hour pack for a 2-3 day trip. Its 20 deg outside.
It was completely limp and lifeless and not breathing when it arrive. My wife and I both thought it was dead. He talked about how healthy it was, but its almost emaciated. Just out of chance I took it downstairs and put it under a heat lamp. 2 hours later, MIRACULOUSLY, its showing signs of life. Not sure yet whether or not the poor little guys gonna make it but we'll see. He can hardly hold his head up as of now.
Moral of this story? Never, ever, ever buy an animal from Cody Snider. Nor would I even sell one to him. He has absolutely no reguard for life. And all to save $30 in shipping. So now Im spending my New Years Eve doing my best to nurse it back to health.

Paul Kent

Sorry I saw that and didnt read much more..
