In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Reminds me of a rave.

I must say, I've never seen someone as successful as Rich in putting together multiple websites composed of thousands of members. But holy mackeral. Fauna reminds me of a rave. People roam around and some of them talk and hang out, and some of them mosh and beat the tar out of eachother. Some of them are happy, some of them are out for blood.

CS.com reminds me of a big barbecue picnic. Everyone is friendly, everyone is talking and smiling, and everyone is willing to pass the ketchup.

I have been nasty, loud-mouthed, cocky, and flat-out rude on both sites. I would have to say that my language has been worse here while my overall savageness has been worse on CS. Right now, I can say with some confidence that I'm a valued member of CS (or atleast that I have some friends to die for) but Fauna.. I dunno. I think that reptile owners take after their pets. The cornsnake is a docile colubrid. It only bites for a reason. Well.. There are ALOT of different types of reptiles on Fauna.

Just a sudden observation.

This was my opinion. I'm probably the only one who has it. But that's okay. This isn't a drama-llama post. I'll be around, but only when I have to be.

Adam.

Love the dragons. Always nice to see another converted to the dragon-side.

Word of warning. Your babies/eggs - they have too many overall views in comparison to the unique views/clicks. You are treading close to killing them if you don't get them off whatever click site you put them on - assuming you did put them on a fan clicksite and it's not some egg stalker trying to deliberately kill them. You really want to try and stay within a overall/unique view ratio between 2:1 - 5:1 until they successfully grow up. Your hatchlings for example.. .considering the number of unique views you have, the overall views should be around 900-1500... not 3000+

Hate to be a wet blanket, but please explain to me what those dragons have to do with being a SIGNATURE.......

In my case, they are my statement I want in my signature. I'm proud of my dragons TYVM.

People put weird quotes/statements in their posts all the time (sometimes even offensive ones). Other people put their websites and blatantly advertise their businesses all the time. It's not hurting anyone to show off pet dragons that people worked hard to hatch and raise. And they are on topic of a sort being cold-blooded herps. :)

Omg. Wraith, I am jealous of your dragons. I want a male silver sooo bad. I've got a black egg that I'm hoping to breed to my green hatchling, once they're all grown up. ;)

Anywho, Rich, I find them amusing, sort of like you find your democracy quote amusing. They're purdy and fun to click on. We even have a users group for them on CS.

Yes they are sooo purdy. We need to strive to get a dragon on every herper's computer !!! I'm sure Rich would love to be addicted to dragon hunting and raising and breeding (it would be cheaper than cornsnakes). :D :reddevil: The game is only as fun as you make it. Me I love tracing the lineages on the bred dragons. i find the cave borns a bit boring.

Took me three months before I caught my first silver. Got lucky and snagged a few more (plus a gold) and now I find it very hard to stop reflex clicking when I see a silver egg since I don't need anymore LOL.

As I found out from another person it's all in how you hunt & refresh the AP page and grab. It helps a LOT if you turn off java scripting in your web browser tool setting before hunting the AP pages (pages load faster). 8-12pm ET are the best times. Concentrate towards the bottom area of the AP pile (either the right or left side but not both sides unless you are trying to play the middle). Use the F5 key to refresh instead of using the mouse to hit the browser refresh icon. If you have to move the mouse chances are you've lost the silver egg to someone else - people are that fast on grabbing. Since most people are fixated with the top row eggs by the time they spot a silver at the bottom and move the mouse down to click you've got that head start on them cause you are at the bottom ready to grab. Also hunting the bottom row silver eggs are most likely to be auto-abandoned eggs and not eggs people were trying to trade to someone else so you don't have to contend with people who have grab codes already set on their browser for that particular egg. Golds are much harder because they tend to not produce multiple eggs on a single breeding that require people to auto-abandon the extras so it's not as likely to find them on the bottom rows.

Omgs. Just today I missed an alt. black hatchling that already had wings. I'm sure that one was a trade. There was a blue dino egg out front this morning too. Still kicking myself for not grabbing it.

If ever I get any alt blacks or alt greens, do you think you'd be interested in a trade? I'd give you as many as you want for a silver. I've been seeing them every time my eyes close! :D

I'm generally fairly open to drifts of topic, but this is the Fauna Feedback forum....

I'd rather not split this thread (the new one would have a rather abrupt, unexplained beginning), so please continue the dragon talk in a more appropriate forum.

Sorry Harald. :x

Ooh. Another feedback thing.

The mods here are more active (IMO) than the mods on CS, but I'm thinking that's because they HAVE to be active, you know?

Like, there's less trouble on CS.

Am I comparing Fauna to CS too much?

Maybe I should shut up now.

You'll see different activity levels by the various mods.
I'll be the first to admit that I'm a pain in the butt. I tend to poke around into various subforums, and check on things that I may not have much interest in. Part of that stems from my history here - I was an active participant in the discussion forums before I took on any type of moderator role. Then, I was involved in the "lower" moderator programs. Now, I am one of the site mods, and probably have a bit of "new guy" drive. Combine that with the fact that I am able to visit the site multiple times throughout the day (blame my schedule, lol, but, as Rich once pointed out, sometimes it seems like I am here more than I am gone), and there is usually something I am looking at expectantly or wanting to tweak somehow.
I don't think I've ever registered on CS, so I can't comment on how things are there...but, as a general statement, you are correct. It is the membership that largely drives how active a moderation team needs to be.

Absolutely. I'm one of the three mods on cornsnakes.com, and it's largely self-policing. Rich has fostered a more "family friendly" atmosphere over there, and the majority of regular members seem to want to keep it that way. But it's far from conflict-free over there...

But the BOI is the most active subforum here, and it is a completely different animal from anything on cs.com. By it's nature it is much more combative than cs.com and requires MUCH more moderation.

I'm a big fan of both sites.

We have had young people here who were courteous and a joy to have around. After your own self description, above, I am thinking you are not one of those people.

Unfortunately youth does not shield one's rep. If you are as nasty as you describe yourself to be, you will be saddled by your misdeeds even if by good fortune you outgrow them.

I'd have to agree that what you've said is true.
However, each time I've posted on CS, I've gotten a clean slate. Every time. People judged me based on each individual post. On Fauna, it is not that way at all. You post something, and you are judged on hundreds of other posts you've made. And people tend to remember the bad posts before the good. :shrug01:

Adam's period of ....er...troublesome posts was fairly brief. He had some difficulties, which he seems to have put some effort into addressing. With a new approach to things, I think he will see the slate wiped clean soon enough.

Not always true, nor in every case.

Whatever it's called, I don't like it. I don't function that way.

I understand that I am responsible for my own actions, but after they've happened, they've happened, you know? I don't mind when people come to Thread 1 and reply to Post 7 by quoting Post 3. What bothers me is when I'm on Thread 4 and someone brings up post 3 from thread 1.

That hurt my tiny brain.

I just believe that adult Simba shouldn't be kicked out of the bug buffet for going to the elephant graveyard as a cub.

Lol. I dunno. Either you understand what I'm saying, or you don't. Whether or not you agree is totally up to you. ;)

Whatever your age then, you are still a child. Adults realize that actions and words have consequences.
Being a child is not at all a bad thing, it is what it is.

After actions have happened, if they are bad actions, likely you need to account for them. And most of us choose to avoid people who are irresponsible enough not to own their words and deeds. That's because if they are irresponsible and careless one time, they may very well be that way the next, if they do not show understanding. But as I said, we often make special allowances for children.

Oh, I understand it... You showed people your ass and want them all to immediately forget that it ever happened, rather than remembering that you behaved that way.

Things don't work that way. It takes a great deal of positive experiences to erase a memorable negative one and your character is going to be regarded as suspicious at best until you have proven yourself over an extended period of time. It's not going to happen in a week.

If you don't want people to think you're an utter jackass, don't write posts that prove you are.
