tired & cranky shadow
I have been debating on following through with this since I saw the initial ad...and decided that it bugged me enough that I wanted to do so.
Luckily, I copied the most recent post before he deleted the ad (after I said not to remove the solicitation...so I may have to undelete it at some point.)

Now, a lot of people take in unwanted reptiles - I don't have any problem with that. What I do have a problem with is people declaring themselves "nonprofit" and seeking donations (which Terry did in the topmost quote). Im not thrilled with people actively soliciting free animals, as a rescue, with the intent of selling them, either (I'm not saying that Terry did that part, at least not yet).
Soooooooo, now that this information is out there, I'm also making an inquiry:
Does anybody know this person? Can anybody speak to what he is actually doing? Is there a $35 minimum adoption fee required by the State of Missouri?

He was questioned about his "nonprofit" status, about the 'state required' minimum adoption fee, and about his new screenname...just a couple of weeks ago, he was falcon309, and had posted this ad: http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?p=671808gunter reptiles rescue said:reptiles needing rehomed and help with supplies

We run a reptile rescue out of our home. We do not charge any intake fee but we do charge a minimum charge of $35.00 for state adoption fee due to state requirements . All the adoption fees go on all the reptiles for feed and bedding and etc. We have been rescuing reptiles for 15 years. We are located in Wheaton , MO. but we cover the entire united states . Please note we are a non profit rescue . We run our rescue with a different twist than others. Instead of keeping tons and tons of reptiles waiting for homes what we do is have people fill out adoption applications in advance. We will approve or deny them as they come in. Then as we get a call for a reptile that needs a home, like a ball python for instance, we will call the next approved person for a ball python and so on and so forth. As long as they get along with the reptile and the reptile gets along with you then they get to be adopted. If they do not get along then the next person on the list is moved up, and the one that didn't get along with this reptile get to try again on the next reptile .
We understand that life sometimes throws you a curveball. Due to foreclosure, illness, death in the family, a move, divorce, job loss, etc, you either must give up your reptiles or maybe you've been left with a reptile of someone else’s and you either can't or don't want to keep it. We are a safe nonjudgmental place to come to place that reptile Please do not abandon a reptile ; I will make sure that it goes to a loving, healthy home. Contact me and I can help. Email me at [email protected] or call 417-652-3064 . Note that we do not take applications over the phone. we could really use some help with supplies with the econamy the way it is our funds and supplies are running very low if any one could help it would be very appreciated. thanks for looking and god bless everyone
Also under the falcon ID, he had posted inquiries to ads for some boas, breedable adult female BPs, and gravid BPs; and had posted several animals for sale or trade - not the kind of things one would expect from a legitimate reptile rescue.ball pythons for special kids
