Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....
I don't think personal bashing is needed. No reason to bash someones appearances because you dislike them. (at least not on the BOI, as it does nothing for the thread)

At this point, Post up the vet reports or walk away!

Nothing more can be done to help your situation Ralph, if you do not post the proof.

Yes, sick snakes DO happen, even from good breeders. Everyone does get that point.

But you need to post up those vet reports, or just stop. You are, as someone else mentioned, just digging yourself deeper into a hole at this point.

Your "warning" is moot at this point, as you are showing no proof to back up your claim, which is a part of the BOI.

So then I just asked him right away as he got smart with me, "Why are you selling sick snakes" and "You sold me a sick snake, you can't do anything for me?" Then he rambled off on whatever he was saying and being mean about it. I was wrong for going to the vet that cost me a lot of money to save my sick snake I bought from him and it wasn't his fault...yeah ok. I told him I was gonna post some feedback fro him when I got home since he wasn't going to help me out much. He told me he didn't care and then cursed at my gf and I. Then out of anger, I cursed back at him and went down the table telling people not to buy from him because he sold me a sick snake then headed for the exit.

Ralphie, do you really think there is any way this behavior DOESN'T put you into the category of 'customers not worth keeping'? Based on your version of the tale, Ian was willing to deal and you killed negotiations with your petulance.

Also, if you are a beardie nut, did you handle any beardies at the show you picked the snake up at? I have no idea if a snake could show symptoms the same day of infection, but I think if the animal was picked up at a show, especially if you had contact with other animals, then you have to be very, very careful about laying blame. After all, it does seem like it was only in hindsight that the snake seemed thin, lethargic, and symptomatic. It was a week plus 'two or three days' later that you noticed the drooling and blood in the stools, right?

I've never dealt with Ian, but I think a problem that isn't worth calling up about for a week probably wasn't as immediate and as severe as you may be remembering it.

I would also like to see the vet reports, and add me to the crowd curious about how long it takes for reptiles to show hookworm symptoms. So far google-fu is only producing info on humans and dogs.

My name is Joe Ellis. I have bought thousands of dollars worth of animals for the shop I work at and for myself. I almost never have issues. If I ever did they were fix no problem. Ian stands behind his animals and if you treat him with respect he is more than willing to help you out. When you have your mommy and girlfriend come up that makes you look like a :censored:. Treat people with respect and you will get it back. People will also respect you more if you did not look like a queer.

Joe Ellis

Talk about a tag team..lol Ralphie is gettin it from all angles. Ralph I understand your pain on this one but if you could provide the vet bill it would help your cause, of course I completely believe you, because I have received an ill animal from Ian as well! I myself have been in your shoes as far as waiting to long to say something. In these types of situations time is against you, as soon as you find a problem you need make the seller aware immediately!!!

A couple people have mentioned blood in the stool. My understanding was that the blood was in a sample that was forced by the vet. Still not normal - but not having witnessed the procedure, I wouldn't say that it wasn't the cause of the blood.

I can't give a definite timeframe for infection to symptoms for hookworm, BUT stress can also cause a loose defecation...as well as triggering the expression of underlying conditions. Maybe it did have hookworms while in Ian's care, but not the loose nasty stool. Maybe it did have the signs, and it wasn't caught. The OP said that the snake was on the thin side when he bought it, so there is a fairly good chance that it was a pre-existing condition.
I think that the OP's expectations may have been unrealistic, and that his behavior (as well as that of his entourage) most likely worked against him.
Your snake is healthy now - enjoy it. Buy from somebody else next time. Or, just a suggestion here, have whoever is going to do any followup that may be needed make the purchase - at least that way, the person that bought the animal will be the one talking to the vendor.

Joe, I'm glad your posting pics of me on the internet and telling me I look like a fag, that's really neat. Maybe your in a secret love triangle with Mike and Ian. I really don't care about you guys calling me names and telling me how I look. That's not the point of this thread.

If you guys saw what I stated before, my scanner would not work. All I have are the bills as of now. I'm picking up the vet report possibly tonight or tomorrow. I'll post it asap. Keep bashing away. I acted out because Ian was a liar and he started to make me look like an idiot in front of everyone because I had gone to the vet which was a stupid idea because he doesn't have sick snakes.

Blah blah blah Ian can do no wrong, blah blah picking on kids makes me feel good about myself, blah blah.

With all due respect Dan, and while I can see the basis for your argument, I have to disagree somewhat with the point to which you have taken it.

Ian is human and is thus capable of mistakes. He's also got a good reputation though and those mistakes seem to be pretty few and far between. Mostly taken care of in a manner that seems pretty reasonable and fair when they were brought to his attention.

Reputation does matter, some skepticism of claims of wrongdoing when the person being accused has a good reputation is normal and even beneficial. If the overwhelming majority of experiences dealing with someone (in this case Ian) are positive and fair, then that pattern of behavior is highly likely to continue. Not guaranteed... but it's probable that his position was in line with his previous history of customer interaction and quality.

As to picking on a kid... Some of it crossed some lines (cracks about his appearance, calling his girlfriend fat). Some of it was more a criticism of the manner and method that Ralphie chose to behave.

Shows are often an environment where it's difficult to sit down and have a conversation- there are noises, there are distractions, there are other customers or potential customers, there are the necessary attentions which have to be paid to the animals on the table. An adult, behaving as an adult, would look at the environment they found themselves in and have some patience if they were trying to find some resolution of a problem. The conversation might be broken into segments as Ian dealt with his other, more immediate responsibilities, it may have had to wait for a lull or for someone to cover Ian's tables. Discussions about resolution and restitution are also ongoing, evolving processes until one side or the other drops an ultimatum, a final offer, a last word. Staring contests, swearing and yelling and storming off, shouting accusations and eventually resorting to a mouthpiece... none of these are reasonable, adult behaviors.

At nineteen, I don't think there's any excuse for behaving like a petulant child. Ralphie's own descriptions of his actions and words at the show, the descriptions and perspectives of others being even worse, paint the picture of a person who's emotionally and socially retarded. Dealing with that kind of juvenile personality, as that personality throws a temper tantrum in the middle of a public place... I can't blame Ian at all for writing Ralphie off as more trouble than he's worth.

I'm going to take a wild guess here and say the vet doesn't know to much about reptiles or is just looking to get as much out of you as possible. Panacur should have taken care of the both problems and not have been a risk to overdosing like metronidazole, given the size of the animal and ralphie's inexperience. The blood could have been there from the vet forcing the stool out and the way he described the hook worms (after he treated for them) doesn't give me much confidence that you did have them.

Just to play devil's advocate and to bring up something that Seamus mentioned, yes Ian has a good reputation here on the BOI. I would be willing to venture a guess that he does 90% or more of his retail business is cash and carry at reptile shows (that is his retail business, not the retail business of the guys that flip for him). I would also guess that a large number of those purchases are made by people that don't know what Fauna or the BOI is. So it may be reasonable to conclude that there could be a lot of unhappy customers with no recourse that they are aware of. Reptiles are a billion dollar industry. I would doubt that those who participate in Internet forums account for enough to even scratch the surface. So for Ian's guys who come here to trumpet how he a stellar rep, they may not be telling you the whole story. Again, just playing devil's advocate and of course I could be wrong. As I mentioned, I have only had good transactions with Ian from a reptile health standpoint.

RALLLLLPHIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE......

I never once called you a Fag. On top of that you posted the picture online. It's on a public site that anyone can view. If you would not like pictures of you online DON'T POST THEM!!!!!! :shrug01:

I was using queer in this meaning

"Since its emergence in the English language in the 16th Century (related to the German quer, meaning "across, at right angle, diagonally or transverse"), queer has generally meant "strange," "unusual," or "out of alignment." It might refer to something suspicious or "not quite right," or to a person with mild derangement or who exhibits socially inappropriate behavior."

I hope you have a wonderful day!!!!!

Mike I'm glad your trolling me on myspace and all. I'm also glad you are Ian's boyfriend from what I hear. I wonder why other tables won't beat Outback's tables in prices, um maybe because they're actually healthy snakes being sold. And maybe my mother did hear incorrectly, oh well. All that I know is she called twice and I got on the phone with what was supposedly Ian, but when I talked to him at the show he was telling me I was on the phone with somebody else. As to the normal balls I had bought a year ago from Ian, I might have e-mailed about them asking how they were fed because I couldn't get them to eat at first, but they started eating after a month or so and one died for no apparent reason a day after it ate, which I don't blame anyone for. I did mention on the phone I bought two normal baby balls a year ago from him, but I didn't tell him I had trouble with them at all. I know that I should wait a week now after feeding and all, but I heard somebody at Outback's staff telling a customer that it feeds on Tuesday(that's two days after the show) anyways so why make a fuss out of my husbandry? And stop bashing on my girlfriend, you and Ian. Just because she stood up for me, because I don't know how to stand up for my own self, doesn't mean she was the "rude, demanding little kid." All she did was try to reason for the sick snake that I was sold from Outback Reptiles and Ian couldn't push her away with his "intelligent talking" like he did with me.

And yes, I do too want to know how long it takes for a a sickness like hookworm to spread and show sings because my snake defecated in under 3 hours of me being home from the show and the fecal matter was nowhere near normal. A burglar must have jumped in the room I have my beardies in, played with them a little bit, ran downstairs, played with my spider bp from Outback, and forgot to wash his hands in between and that must be how my snake received hookworm in under the 3 hours that I was home from the show. That of course being the only way my snake received hookworm if it can spread and show signs in only a matter of a few hours.

Sorry there Joe, but you did not say anything about his behavior being queer. You flat out said he looked like a queer! Don't try to backtrack on that statement now just because you're being called out on it.

You must be truly full of yourself to take so much pleasure in making fun of other people's appearances. Pathetic.

To be honest..

I think it's pretty sad that suddenly this whole thread turned from being about Ralphiee's snake being sold to him sick to how ralphiee dresses/looks and about his girlfriend. Look at the tags at the bottom of this thread. THAT is ridiculous! :notallthe Seriously people, are we adults? The 19 year old at this point is acting more mature then some of the people posting. :shrug01: Thats just my point of view from reading this whole thread.

Anyways, Ralphiee I'm glad you got the invoice posted. Please as soon as you get the vet report post that as well.

Yup, and I'm sure you're very "cute" yourself, Joe Ellis.

I did act out in a way I shouldn't have at the show, but Ian did as well. I just told him I was going to leave him some "great" feedback after him lying to me and not helping me out with my sick snake that he had sold me and then he blew up with all the curse words towards my girlfriend and I. Him calling my girlfriend names alone was enough to burst my bubble. I didn't know how to react not thinking that Ian was going to yell and curse me out so I had an "outburst" and stormed off.

I thought the main point of the thread was not whether or not his snake was sick, but more that Ralphie acted like a tit and then got his panties in a bunch when he was treated like one.
