In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Beware of Zach ashwood ( bad news )

Not taking sides here, but I have had baby boas that looked wrinkly and emaciated during a shed, and felt VERY dry and crunchy, but after shed looked perfectly fine. They are both still with me, healthy and growing. I can't really pick a side here, seems to be a lot of he said she said garbage, but it is entirely possible for baby boas to look very bad in shed even when healthy, and pictures of one in that condition could be deceptive.

What age baby are you taking into consideration here though?
Zach stated he had the snake at least 2 months(never verified), and obviously it had to be of proper age to sell before he even purchased it.
But yes I've seen 1-2 week old babies look like that, but one that is a few months old? That seems a stretch.

They came from a reptile shop, I'm not sure exactly how old they were, but they had two or three sheds like that after I bought them, so it was several months into their life. My suggestion to resolve this would be that Zach takes the snake back, but the buyer is responsible for the cost of return shipping. If it is healthy, then he will be able to resell it, and if it's not, it will be in more experienced hands where it has a better chance of recovery. If you two don't trust each other, agree on a neutral third party to hold the money, s/he can confirm the money has been received so that the buyer feels comfortable shipping, and Zach knows his money can be easily recovered if the snake is not returned.

I, too, have had snakes look dehydrated and wrinkly prior to shed...especially some boas. That said, I've never had one look that bad.

Zach, when did this animal's eyes cloud, and when would you expect it to shed? If it sheds and it appetite and condition do not improve, would you agree to a refund? If the answer is no, you've pretty much sealed the deal on selling snakes in the future. Questionable animal + questionable customer service + over 100 pages of bad guy BOI thread = New Hobby.

Mike, would you agree to hang onto it a little longer and wait out a shed (I'd recommend a shoebox w/ warm, damp sphagnum moss)?

Zach ....

The photo of the nice healthy-looking little Sunglow that you sent to the OP prior to the sale ... did you take that photo?

Or was it taken and sent to you by the person you bought the Sunglow from several months ago?

The member I bought him from photocopied a reciept he was given by Pete and guess what...it's sitting right in front of me. Would you like it?
Yes, please take a photo and post that receipt here.

Being a business owner I will say customer service is the most important aspect and that gets achieved by quality products and they way you handle situations as they arise. I have had a male boa that had the same look during a shed. I called him Jeckyl and Hyde when he did shed he looked 100% different. I would say hold out until he sheds and then see. I can't say what was said or done I believe no one can but the two involved nor can I make a decision on who is right or wrong . Sometimes you just get customers that spend money and judging by the emails was very concerned about their purchase. I don't think I would have a problem buying a snake from this man.

Wow... Mike i feel very sorry for you and having to deal with this. I for one am not a boa breeder, but i own a few and none of them have ever looked like that. I do for one breed Panther Chameleons, and if a buyer was not satisfied in any means with my animals i would instantly refund the money and have them ship it back to me. Sorry for your future boa business Zach Ashwood, I for one will always look out for your name and let people i know to look out for you. Sucks when people are so stubborn they cant even see thier own ignorance!:(

heres a few more pics I took the patterns look similar its even hard for me to tel since the saddles arent on top of the snake any more .. If anybody can help me get this snake back into good health I would apreciate it id hate for him to not make it .. I have filed a complaint with my credit card company maybee that will get Zach to take the animal back and refund my money ( DOO THE RITE THING ZACH !!!)

You need to get that snake to the vet to get it rehydrate it. In the mean time you need to soak it in lukewarm water everyday to try to help it shed and start getting rehydrate it.

You could give it some pedialyte mixed in with some baby food through a stomach tube this will help with the dehydration and emaciation. NOTE; you should only attempt to do this if you know what you're doing otherwise you might do more harm. Otherwise, just let the vet take care of it. This is also a good idea since you have to be able to substantiate your claims with Kingsnake and your credit card company and a vet's professional opinion will definitely help.

I was just reffered to Zach Ashwood by someone a couple nights ago. I am not getting into the who is right and who isn't, but I will say that the first rule in my small hobby is to make the customer happy at all expenses.

Guys there is nothing I can do or say at this point. I've explained what actually went on and nowone believes me. They choose to believe the buyer and in majority of cases you guys believe the buyer. But I'm not going to post here anymore. I have nothing to gain by doing so. I'd be willing to say that most of you didn't really read all the posts by myself and Mike. It's ignorant to say I should refund his money after a week. If you guys were in my situation you'd do the same thing. So he says he's taking it to the vet tomorrow so that's all there is to it. I'm done arguing with you people.

once again Zack ashwood shows his true colors !!! everybody that possted agreed the snake was not healthy !!! Man Up Zach !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I kind of agree with Zach as far as taking it back. You never know what he/she did in the 5 days of handling let alone the hour wait on the front door in 60 deg to be picked up. Some snakes do not take well to severe stress change. Again I will not form an opinion based on what has been posted here because there was probably a lot more conversations and emails then what was posted. Keith Neff

Dude, give it up. Give that man back his money and MAYBE you'll save some remnants of whatever reputation you might have had.

Alternatively you could move to to Florida, change your last name to Scolaro and you'll be set since you seem to be following closely in his footsteps.

Zach

I see you are here viewing this thread ... how about just answering my previous questions? And post a shot of that receipt you said was sitting right in front of you.

It doesn't matter who believes what, the fact of the matter is that you have a buyer raising hell, and the longer it goes on the more damage is done to your reputation. It is entirely possible that the boa is healthy and just needs to shed, if so you can resell it and you've lost nothing. If it isn't healthy, then it was probably sick when you sent it, and you should take responsibility. Even if it was healthy and the buyer did something to make it sick, is your future business worth a few hundred bucks? Sometimes you just have to take a loss when you are in business whether you're right or wrong.
