Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Info US GLOBAL EXOTICS SPCA RAID

What F$%^ed up logic some of you have! Implying anyone is to blame but the people that allow animals to suffer is ridiculous!
How about this... When our animals are made illegal and taken from us, it will be the fault of the animal abuse supporters like Brian Dierking, who would rather have a $20 reptile, than provide any amount of adequate care. Blaming other people? When you have 15,000 reptiles in stock, there are dead bodies around, smells like crap, injured and in pain reptiles cramped everywhere.... Whos the dumbs*&t who says? "We need 12,000 more living animals to abuse!" Better yet, who are all of you scumbags defending that action??? If some "business" did not feel the need to abuse 27,000 animals, PETA would not have the ammo to come after us. If we didnt have so many sick individuals defending US Global (which really tells us alot about how some keep there reptiles) and animal abuse in the name of beyond cheap pets, maybe the govt wouldnt feel the need to step in!

When our reptiles are taken from us, at least a bunch of you US Global supporters can look in the mirror to see the reason why!

Tom, I take fantastic care of my geckos but you know (or you should know) that if PETA got one look into my facility with it's rack systems with 6 and 12 quart bins, paper towel substrate, disposable cardboard hides etc., they would do whatever they could to shut me down. They would do the same if they saw how you keep your animals.

Put down the crack pipe Tom, and slowly step down from your soapbox.

There are a lot of people who totally disagree with your post, and I am one on them. You have no idea how people keep their animals, just because they support US Global.

I never said that I support animal abuse and I don't recall anyone else supporting animal abuse. What I did say was that from a business point of view, why some things are done the way they are. I don't like to see animals die any more then the next guy.

Also just so some of you who don't think Global should have gotten their animals back. A lot of the animals that were confiscated had not yet been paid for. So now all of the people that sent them animals on credit will not be getting paid. So there are a lot of people that lost on this whole thing.

KelliH,
They could not stage photos of dead and tortured animals over any period of time (maybe they could run in and throw a dead animal on the floor and take a photo, but my place is so clean it would look out of place). And I cannot understand how our industry has come to the point that we need to stand behind this to keep our rights? This is what will lose our rights!
Randal,
If you support how US Global keeps their animals, It doesnt really matter how you keep yours. Your setting a standard for what should be acceptable animal care. :ack2: That standard just got us alot of attention!

So what would be ideal for the supporters of US Global? Should they get another 27,000 animals to take care of?

Legislation to ban the python/boa was already in place and being sought after long before the US GLOBAL incident. You have no right to decide that everyone that disagrees with you are automatically animal abusers. ITs that kind ofclosed minded thinking that supports peta, who wants none of us to have animals or eat animals.

I have never claimed that anyone that disagrees with me is an animal abuser. I am saying that anyone that supports or defends US Global and their "right" to house 27,000 animals with no expectation of care.... Well they support animal abuse!

I know this is my opinion, but I believe Global should have been given a second chance. Maybe this whole ordeal was what they needed. If they got the animals back and could resume business, they may have done a complete turn around on all of their ways. Maybe they would have sought out new suppliers from some of these countries where the current suppliers are sending sick animals. Getting good quality animals is half the battle. Maybe they would have given better care if they got a second chance. In some cases a second chance is the best thing that can happen. The legal fees alone could be a positive reason for improving their ways, so they would never have to go through all of this again. There are those who learn from their mistakes. Everyone deserves a second chance. Everyone gets a second chance at some point, Global should have gotten theirs.

I think many people keeping reptiles can have one or more violations should PETA or some other animal rights people should check out your collections.

All of you breeders using rack systems, shoe and sweater boxes watch out and lets just hope they don't see a piece a poo in the corner of a cage or a a shed skin because it could turn out to be an animal cruelty case no matter how clean you think your place is.... :ack2:

Brian, I am not singleing you out.....you just happen to be the one posting the most retarded illogical load of S**T I have ever read. Jason and Vanessa got their 2nd chance every single time they walked into their facility and witnessed the lack of basic care and then with malice of forthought continued to deny that basic care. This went on day in and day out for months. Please keep in mind that the spy and maybe the 5 other employees voiced their concern for these animals day after day to deaf ears......the all mighty buck had to be made. I wonder how much money they would have lost had they had some sort of disease outbreak from the unsanitary conditions?

Sorry Randal, I am not going to subscribe to this line of crap. Tom is 100% correct. :NoNo:

"This went on day in and day out for months. Please keep in mind that the spy and maybe the 5 other employees voiced their concern for these animals day after day to deaf ears...."

You state that as if it is fact? Please provide proof. It is just as easy to speculate the theory of the dead animals being placed there by the spy, as it is for you to speculate that the employees begged for the life of the animals....

You are entitled to your opinion and what you consider logic just as I am. Global did not get a second chance. A second chance can only be given by an authoritive person. In this case a judge. Bosses , parents, teachers, coaches, police, and judges can and do give second chances. An employee of anyone is not in a position to give the owner a second chance. People who are benieth the power cannot give a second chance, in this case, employees cannot give a second chance to the owners. The employees may have been right in what they were saying or recommending but the owner can take it or leave it. If a person like a judge says this is your second and final chance, the owner sits up and takes notice. I think they would have changed and I also think they would have down sized as a result of this. So, no, they did not get a second chance.

Sorry Brian but I disagree with you on this. In my opinion (and I could be wrong)U.S. Global already had 27,000 chances to make this rights without having to have a court get involved. I suppose the argument could be made that that extra chance plus government interference could have made a difference but ultimately it never should have gotten to this point.

You are right when you say that it should not have gotten this far, but it did. Were these people always this way? I would think not. Sometimes when people start to slide down hill without anyone with authority stepping in they can reach the extreme like what has happened here. When the second chance is given by a judge it puts someones mind frame back where it should be, and they become better because of it. Global did not get a second chance.

I agree and it's definitely unfortunate that some groups of people (PETA for one) really have very little idea what an animal requires in order for it to be "happy" I suppose you could say.

Ultimately you can substitute all kinds of artificial pieces (substrates, hiding places, etc...)into their captive habitat and as long as they still provide the same level of utility for their needs they could care less if it's a disposable cardboard hide or a natural rock or log hide it's close enough to their natural environment and will meet their physiological and psychological needs and as a result those animals will do pretty well and actually thrive.

Obviously it was not always that way because there have been folks on here that said they were at the place and had thought it was fine or ok or no problems they noticed. That is why I have a problem with it. They couldnt have gone from ok and looking fine to suddenly filled with dead rotting animals. Also where were inspections or inspectors in all of this during all this time? Here in GA inspectors come around and check your place, check out complaints, etc... NO ONE complained?

Some of the replies in this thread are becoming abusive and derogatory in nature towards other members. I strongly suggest that everyone tone it down and keep an even keel in this discussion. It does no one any good to have everyone here appear to be turning against one another because of contrary personal opinions.

I'm interested to see the transcripts from the trial. I believe that that is public record and should not be that hard to get, although there will surely be a fee to pay.

For me, it all comes down to this:
If US Global abused animals in there care then I do not support them in any way. I am very concerned about the precedent this case has set. Meaning, who's to say a judge would not deem my own standards of care for my animals to be abuse? It does scare me, and it should scare all of us that have a passion for these animals and all of us that make our living as reptile breeders. We all need to do our part to educate others about reptiles and the care they require in captivity, as well as educate others about the natural history of the animals that we keep. It's our responsibility as reptile breeders to do that and also to "police" our own industry, which is one reason why I support this website. If we fail, then our grandchildren may only be able to see these animals (that we are seemingly taken for granted right now) in picture books and on television.

It's a slippery slope, this situation, and it's tough because I am sure that the majority here DO care for our animals and respect them and give them the best care we know how to. But many of us are also very frightened because we see what is happening right in front of us, and that is our rights to work with these animals is slowly being taken away from us. It's not that we support US Global, not at all, it's that we are concerned that something similar could happen to us.

How many people here really understand the depth of the problem?

In other words, how many understand that there will be NO compromising with PETA, HSUS, or the SPCA? It doesn't matter how clean you keep your cages, how much you feed your animals, or anything else you may do to keep them healthy. Because those organizations consider the KEEPING of reptiles as being abusive. It's not HOW you are keeping them, but the simple fact that you ARE keeping them.

You might as well be trying to compromise with a shark that is intent on eating both of your legs. Will you be pleased with just having one leg afterwards, thinking you won anything?

As for US Global's animals, quite frankly, I think that there needs to be an accounting of exactly how many animals have been "saved" by that confiscation. How many are actually still alive today? If it takes a freedom of information inquiry to get that info, then that needs to be done. THEY have to be accountable for their actions, just as they are apparently demanding that reptile owners must be accountable for theirs. How well are THEY taking care of those animals that they claim they are "saving"?

You are NOT going to win with these people by fighting like gentlemen and ladies in a fair fight. And you certainly are not going to win fighting strictly a defensive battle. Apparently these people have finally set their sights on the reptile industry, and they are NOT going to be satisfied with simply a small segment of the total animals involved being banned from ownership. They will divide and conquer until there is absolutely NOTHING left.

Do you believe you have a right to have reptiles in your home? Well, if someone can tell you "NO", then it's NOT a right at all. It's a revokable privilege. Nothing is a "right" if it can be taken away from you.
