In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Once again - an albino refuses to eat for me!!!!!

This is the 3rd one since 2004.
They NEVER feed for me.
His last meal was exactly 4 months ago on 11/30/09.
Refused every time since. Today I replaced the cyprus mulch with aspen. I have tried everything to get this guy to eat.
I am going to try offerring food again this weekend.
I really hope he starts eating.

Here is a photo of him from tonight. He looks a bit thin to me. If he refuses, should I try an assist feed?

I have a male pastel that goes off feed for 5 or 6 months every year after his first lock up of the season and he gets really skinny to the point I always get worried about his health. The only thing that gets him to eat is the smell of an ovulating female that he has been with. As soon as she ovulates, he goes right back on feed with live first and then frozen the next time. Im not sure if you are breeding him but thats what happens with mine. I hope it helps.

You'll have to learn to listen to Brandi, Steve...remember this comment?

WOOOO.. don't jinx it dangit!!
From the timeline, I think he probably ate another meal or two after you posted this
3 in a row!!!!
My albino has eaten 3 meals in a row since I moved him.

Finally, an albino that eats!!!!
:shootfoot Damn snakes, I hate when they do that - I've got several that do it every winter. Did you try picking him up and offering him the food? (I wouldn't recommend that to just anybody, but I've already told you that it works for some of mine, lol)

I may try that.
This one only ate this way for me for a while.

I have a male Lesser who hasn't eaten since 11/26, so I feel your pain. From the picture, I bet he's about the same size as your Albino.

I'd check two things:

1. Is he losing a lot of weight in a short amount of time? If he's staying constant or very slowly decreasing, then I wouldn't worry just yet.
2. Can you still feel his muscle tone? If so, then he's not in the danger/force-feeding zone just yet.

For example, my Lesser peaked at ~650 g, then he quickly dropped down below 600 in a few weeks, which got me worried. But now he's very slowly losing weight (~20g a month or something like that), which is fairly normal for a snake who isn't eating just to mess with his owner (as opposed to something being wrong with him).

Once they start losing muscle tone, it's time for more drastic action, like tube- or force-feeding. I had some discussions about this with my vet when my ~250 g female Woma decided to not eat for several months last summer/fall.

so you can curse, but when i do i get an infraction?

I'd suggest re-reading the rules of the site. More closely, this time.

before i would force feed i would try to assist feed there is a difference between the two, if you nned more info look at the complete ball python by Mccurly. good luck.try live rat pup just getting a little color on the head

He is a 2008 and weighs 407 grams as of tonight.
He has been a sporadic feeder ever since I got him.
Over the past few months he has lost about 70 grams but still has good muscle tone.

Anyone have an adult female albino that eats f/t (regularly)? I can make a trade very worthwhile for a feeding female. :yesnod:

Did you try the tuna or chicken grease thing yet?

And a new one would prolly stop eating for you too. You're cursed or have a pheromone that puts albino bp's off fed

Have you tried getting tests run? If you could get somebody to bottle & modify the pheromone to work on humans you'd make mint

so according to the rules, its ok for some users to curse, but not others?

You need hit with one for off topic posting too. This thread is about SPJ's albino curse, not your issues with the staff. Issues with the staff can be taken to the feedback forum or Webslave. Read the TOS.

The feeling behind the curse, not only the word, tends to be a major determining factor in weather or not is is offensive. I have seen some of your posts Andrew, and can understand why you where given an profantiy infraction with the use of your words. Harald saying "Damn snakes" is not offensive...you can look that word up in a dictionary and it has plenty of non offensive meanings, including the way in which Harald used the word...where as most other 4 letter words come up only as Vulgar or Slang

I would give you an example of what you have posted that would cause me to believe you got your infraction, but I myself don't want to get in trouble for your poor choice of words

ahh and yes back on topic (thank you Annabelle hehe)

The albino in that pic doesn't seem thin to the point of worry, so I dont know if I would go as far as assist feeding yet.....maybe ASF's or gerbils would spark its interest

a curse word is a curse word regardless how its used. period. that aside, i got it from the AP thread.

I suggest you drop it Andrew. Damn is not regarded as a curse word (i.e. offensive) by most, including the moderators of this site.

There is a feedback forum available if you wish to discuss your infraction or anything else about the site or the staff, but this thread is not the place, so stop trying to drag it off topic with your personal issues.

What size tub are you using, Steve?

This is gonna sound weird but I just got my final two supermodels to finally eat, both females around 300 grams and off a three month fast, by moving them to larger tubs. They went from 15 quart to 32, and everything else stayed the same. It's probably because my 32 rack is darker inside, but these girls had always eaten fine for me in that 15. Don't give up yet! Just get creative.

I've experienced the opposite of that as well. I have an albino male and a pastel female that were good feeders until I moved them from 28qt tubs up to 41qt. Both went off feed and refused food for two months.
I finally moved them back to 28s and within a few days both were eating again.

Didn't see this. I have one of those mythical animals. What did you have in mind? Shoot me a PM.

I agree Clay. Most of the time smaller is better. I just tried this out of, 'oh well tried everything else', and it worked. Believe me, I was shocked. Even moreso when it worked a second time. This was last ditch before an assist feed.

btw - I never realized you were that Clay until recently. I just wanna say thanks for the DIYs on the website. I've gotten many an inspiration there.

Did you try the tuna or chicken grease thing yet?
Both. Neither worked.

You're cursed or have a pheromone that puts albino bp's off fed
I wouldn't doubt it.
First albino in 2004. Did not make it.
Second albino in 2006. Sold it in 2008 for a very reduced price for being a problem feeder. Eats like crazy for it's new owner/
Third albino (this one) in 2008. Terrible feeder.

The albino is my favorite morph and I just cannot get one that does good for me.
