In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

And he sniffs the Peanutbutter and she says Dont worry about it if the world blows up all that will be left is Roaches and Peanutbutter so Eat it!

Roaches aren't THAT bad.. depending on which kind you're talking about.

B. lateralis roaches (aka, the turkish red runners) are BAD. They are very quick, and they will infest your house if they get out. Period. I had a colony of about 500 subadults, but of course the two dragons I had at the time ate through them like nothing.. but still, after the roach colony had been fed off, I found several newborn lateralis roaches scurrying throughout my house, and I continue to find them today. It should also be known that I took lots of time when feeding my animals the lateralis roaches, because if you shake the egg crate they are on too hard, they are really easy to fling out onto the carpet. So I still have no idea how they were getting out. I swear, it's like it's almost them escaping is inevitable. Also, I don't trust any type of roach that can climb.

I do have a Blaptica dubia colony. I have to say that B. dubias are very good roaches to have. They are pretty slow, adults have good gut content, and they reproduce at a decent rate. They can't climb, have minimal odor (assuming you clean their cage every so often, depending on how big the colony is), and dragons love them. And the best part - they aren't terribly bad at infesting your house. About 3 years ago when I got my first dubia colony for my tarantulas (used to be a big spider freak), I accidentally knocked over the roach tank, about 10-15 adults and a few babies escaped. I never saw any fresh batches of babies running around, but what I did find, about 3 months later as I was doing some heavy cleaning, was several roach carcasses.

I kept the B. Lateralis with no issue. I had maybe 2 escapees that I didn't catch and all the others that got out my cat ate shortly after. I never had an infested house and I found the 2 dead about 2 weeks later in a corner somewhere. The key to keeping them in is a sterilite container with the slick sides and for added protection against escapees was to put a weatherstrip sort of thing on the lining of the bin so there was no gap between it and the lid. To me they were the only roaches that didn't look as roachy. I would've gotten dubia but quite frankly they scare the crap outta me and look more like your common house roach than the others did. I will say however, I will NEVER get lobster roaches! Those friggin things give me nightmares.

Ain't that the truth!!! Something about the way they look that I couldn't even reach in the tub to scoop them up and feed them to my dragons. I can do worms and crickets... But not something as big as my thumb

I just can't bring myself to do it. I can handle almost anything but I cannot stand a roach. They remind me way too much of water bugs. My grandmother had water bugs in her basement and they were probably big enough to eat a finger or two!

I really like the dubias. Offers a great additional feeder for the lizards and after a small initial investment you can have a pretty sizeable colony with minimal work. I literally had nightmares the days before I got them! DO IT!!!

I can't do it! I'll buy some at a show for a snack but they all have to be eaten and gone within a week or I get totally freaked out, lol!

I have dubias that I got from my vet. I love them. They cant breed if they get out. And they dont stink like nasty crickets. I hate smelly noisy crickets. I also have a huge colony of discoids. They are just like dubias but faster. They can`t breed if they get out either. My dragons love them and they have live birth no gross eggs that have to hatch like crickets. They just breed and then have like 30-40 babies. Crickets are dirty smelly gross creatures. I was scared to death of the roaches. My vet made me pick one up hold it I thought I was gonna die. But he said I couldnt have the colony unless I held one so I did it. (I work for him) He would never make a client do that. But now I am over my fear and have hundreds of them and my dragons love them. Its all about the dragon`s health and they are good for them. Thats how dr.j sold me on them....

Someone's gonna have to make me do that because I'm too much of a chicken turd to do it willingly... I'll feed my guys pinkies before I pick up a roach :ack2:

I know they're good for them, but unless they look how they do in DAND's avatar all the time, they will continue to creep me out :(

TINMAAAAAN!!! I hadn't any idea peanut butter could survive a nuclear bomb???

What did you in?

I LOVE animals. I always provide the best I can..and everyone seems to agree that ROACHES are best for Dragons...

My cultural beliefs will not let me willingly bring LIVE ROACHES into the house. It was bad enough that I had to bring in mealies and crickets for Duchess (Leopard Gecko) and I am trying to sell HER so that I don't have to deal with bugs anymore. I can't bring myself to deal with ROACHES.:ack2:

I understand completely... I was born in the Philippines and when I was a child, I got bit in the eye by a roach... I looked like Patchy the Pirate for 2wks.

How long have you had Duchess?
