• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Out of the month, there were only about 5 days where shell collecting was really good. At first I thought we were going to get skunked. But those 5 days were REALLY good for collecting decent shells.

    Sanibel Island, FL

Spent the month of May on Sanibel Island with Pim. Was a pretty good time, but the water wasn't as clear as I would have liked it. Storms blew lots of seaweed in as well as got the water pretty disturbed. So no snorkeling again this year. Yeah, I know. Taking a vacation from being retired...

    Lifetime warranty

Interesting thought. Perhaps if I get a diagnosis of cancer I will have to sit down and think if there are any old scores I need to settle. :devilish:

    Alpha-gal syndrome (AGS)

Hmm, not really sold on that acupuncture thing. I guess it is something I would have to experience myself, but for some reason, just not jumping at the chance to have someone jabbing needles into me. :D

    About the war with Iran.....

Anyone who gives money to Iran under any circumstances is just nuts. Only an idiot would not realize that they will use the money to strengthen their military. Regardless of what they agree to beforehand.

    You are still here?

The thing is, in my opinion, Facebook REALLY sucks for holding lengthy and detailed discussions. I will get notices of replies made to posts I have made here and there on Facebook pages, but when I click on the links, I really have to search to find where those replies are located. Maybe it is...

    You are still here?

I am betting I could delete every forum here except the classifieds and 90 percent of the people who still come here would not even notice. After having some experience on Facebook, I can see the draw of Facebook and the stark contrast with this site. Participation. Plain and simple. No one...

Give me a ring sometime if you are in the area. Wish I could recommend some herping spots for you, but I never did spend much time in the field after I moved here. And by the time I had the time, I had lost the incentive. But would be fun just to kick about in the woods again for a while. Oh, I...

Oh, btw, if you ever get a chance to hunt Hatteras Island in NC, the cottonmouths there are actually green. Rather attractive. For a cottonmouth, anyway.

Yeah, cottonmouths take advantage of the shrinking water holes concentrating fish in a smaller area making easy meals of them. It has been VERY dry here in Florida lately. Soon the cottonmouths will be on the move looking for water themselves.

    Pots calling the kettles "black"

That is what comes to mind whenever I see human beings complaining about other species intruding on their turf. Personally, what is not to like about insect eaters joining the locals in helping to get rid of those pests. And as for vegetarian lizards, sheesh, unless they are decimating Aunt...

Bent the tines on my excavator rake attachment

Needed to figure out an effective way to straighten two bent tines on the SHE27 excavator rake attachment. I decided to brace the rake against a sturdy tree and use the tractor to pull the tines straight. I didn't want to pull against the gear motor in the excavator and put unnecessary stress on...
