In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

    Escapee still alive?

About a year ago I bought young Cal king. After about a month of having him he escaped. We hunted high and low for him for days and I kept an eye out for months. There was no sign of him... my best guess was he went down the heater vent. It was especially cold at that time and the heater...

    Northern Pine Snakes

I purchased a pair of Northern Pines Snakes at a reptile show a few weeks ago. This is a new species for me... so I have a few questions. The guy I bought them from said that they were eating f/t juv mice. I am doubting that since I've tried to feed them a couple of times now. They would...

    Painted turtle trouble?

Hi, My painted turtle has had a white substance around his head and legs (close up to the shell) for several weeks now. It kinda looks like loose skin...Is this just him shedding? I have had this turtle since June 09 and I've never seen the white like this. BTW, his shell is about 2 1/2...

    Shed questions

Hi all, My Eastern Milk Snake is not shedding properly. The skin to be shed is not coming off in one piece and in many areas not wanting to come off at all. I soaked him for about 15 min yesterday in the hopes that would help and it did a little. Yesterday he acted real sluggish but today he...

    Turtle territory whoes?

I was reading an article the other day that said that if a turtle is moved out of it's territory (say from one lake to the next) that it will spend the rest of it's days trying to find it's way back to the original territory forgoing food or even mating until it either finds it or dies trying...

    Water filter suggestions

I'm putting together a tank of turtles for display in a campground. I'm thinking 3 or 4 turtles (a map, a painted and a musk at least) all are probably less than 4". Planning on about 20-25 gal of water in the tank. I need suggestions of what type of filter I need to use and where to get it...

    Milk snake not acting well

I bought a baby pueb. milk snake a few months ago. I noticed a couple days ago that he is not acting like he usually does. Acting sluggish. Usually when I pick him up he is very active trying to escape and now is acting very docile. He has been also laying on top of the substrate instead of...

    Look what I got yesterday!

Some girl found this snake in her basement covered in dryer lint a few weeks ago. She was going to keep it but she couldn't get it to eat. I got it, a practically new 10 gal tank, light hood, water dish, hide rocks etc for $10. She only wanted $5 but I gave 10 just to be fair. :) He's...

    Problems with new gecko...advice

Got a leopard gecko last Sunday. Temps in the cage are correct... a couple degrees on the warm side since she came without a tail and was a bit skinny. Paper towel as a substrate. I've been feeding her 3 crickets a day (the guy I got her from said he's been feeding her only 2 a day and I was...

    Another transport question

We will be down in the Indy area this weekend... I was thinking that I might go to the Reptile show there on Sunday. If I find something to bring home what is the best way to transport it? I will have approx 4 hours to drive after we leave the show. Can you use the "hand warmers" I see in the...

    White mice genetics?

I decided to try breeding a small mouse colony. I have four females that are white, one brown & white male, and one black & white male. I'm wondering what colors of babies we will have. Is the white dominant or the color? Maybe a mix of both? Thanks

    Need market opinions

There's a guy selling off his breeding collection. I've been wanting to get into it as a hobby... the problem is that I haven't convinced DH (hubby) that its a good idea. The guy has a few Sand Boas but mainly corns. Amel, Snow, & Normal. My first question is... are these types of snakes...

    Escapee!!

My little King snake has escaped his cage! I noticed last night that he wasn't in it... it had been at least 24 hours since I "knew" he was in there. He could be anywhere by now. We spent last night looking around the immediate area in the hopes he hadn't gone far but no luck. The really bad...

    Keeping reptiles cool

From May to Oct I run a local campground. Last year we set up a "Critter Corner" in our Office/camp store building. We had an Easter Garter, a Brown snake, a Musk turtle, a Painted and a Map turtle. The problem we ran into was keeping them cool in the heat of the summer. We do not have AC...

    Mite treatmemt question

Last Saturday I purchased a snake at the local reptile show. A cal king about 14" long. Almost a year old. Yesterday I noticed that he had mites. I've never had a problem with mites before but read a thread in the vet forum where one suggestion was using the Walmart brand lice treatment. Is...

    Map Turtle help needed

I have a young map turtle. He was WC this last spring and kept in at my campground this last summer in a turtle tank we had set up. I brought him home for the winter because we don't get maps at the lake next to the campground and I decided it would be easier to over winter him. I'm gonna guess...
