  • Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Discussion forums here versus Facebook.

And that would be justification for restricting what people can say on your forums? Slap censorship on them just so you can make more money? Sorry, that just does not seem ethical to me. At the very least, create one or more forums that the web spiders cannot go and allow your members to post...

    Ain't technology great?

I think I may get one of them but keep the remote hidden. When my girlfriend goes into the bathroom, I can trigger it at what seems like a good moment for a surprise. Weapon of ass destruction, so to speak.

    Ain't technology great?

WTH? Someone please explain to me why in the world you would need a remote control for a bidet toilet seat? So what do you do with it? Give the control to someone else and yell out the bathroom door "Fire when ready darling! Use the fire hose setting, please!"

    Discussion forums here versus Facebook.

Well, made an interesting discovery today. Another forum based site (based on tractros) that I frequent some has a similar private messaging system like here. I have been chatting with a guy there for quite a while and the discussion turned to guns generally and Glocks specifically. Well come...

    Bears in the hood

Looks like the bears were moving through last month. Seems like they pass through here a few times a year. Not sure from where nor to where. At least this time none of them wrecked the bird feeders.

    3I/ATLAS

Is anyone else trying to follow the news about this 3I/ATLAS object in our solar system now? For those who don't know, it sorta seems like a comet, except it comes from deep space and not from within our own solar system. On top of that it is violating every previously developed "rule" based on...

    Why is this here?

Facebook has it's place. And people need to make their own choices about where they want to go and what they want to say and do there. I sometimes frequent the Market Place there, but as you mentioned no live animal sales, as far as I can tell. Honestly just seems like another Craig's List clone...

    Why is this here?

As threatened, I am trying an experiment to see if engagement can be created out of thin air where none existed before. I have been posting quite a bit on Facebook, and for what it is worth, I can see the addiction of what the feedback there offers to users. Yes, I believe everyone likes...

    Discussion forums here versus Facebook.

Well I had a thought the other day. Not saying it is a good idea, but it did enter my head, nonetheless. An argument can be made that perhaps the discussion forums here would have flourished at least a little bit if I had led by example. Guilty as charged. I certainly NEVER put much into this...

Kind of ticks me off that TurbTax is going to REQUIRE all users to upgrade to Windows 11 in order to use their product. Might be others, but that is the only PC app I have heard of so far pulling a stunt like that.

    Discussion forums here versus Facebook.

That is likely true everywhere on the internet and every time you use your phone. Do you think that Apple and Google are not using those machines to track you and your actions? Just comes with the territory. The BORG as assimilated nearly all of us for the sake of advertising.

You might have better luck posting in the correct relevant forum.

    Discussion forums here versus Facebook.

Yes, I know the discussion forums here have failed. Actually I have known that for quite a while. And one of these days I will likely just go ahead and bite the bullet and remove them all. After my wife's death, I found myself needing more interaction with people and certainly (except for my...

USFWS Seeks Threatened Status For Southern Hognose Snake

Unless and until they halt development in the prime habitat this snake prefers, they are just making noise that will be of no consequence.

WAY back in the day when Fauna Classifieds was a paper publication by Bill Gillingham.

Found this laying around in my den. Back when I was trying to decide on the perfect name for this website when I was trying to migrate the general classifieds from my CornSnakes.com message board, FaunaClassifieds just seemed so appropriate. I was very fortunate and thankful that Bill...

    Forum was down for days????

Well the site was down on 07/26/2025 for about a day because an update on the server killed something, but beyond that, as far as I know it has been running fine every other day besides that one mentioned.

    Possible site improvement?

If you will look carefully, there is a red "X" in the upper right hand corner of the "rant". Click on that and it goes away and you don't see it again unless I change it. As for your statement "If you have a website that people like and it works, they will continue to pay to use it." Well...

    Fun fact about Ivermectin....

Interesting about ivermectin: I have been taking Ivermectin for about 3 years and at some point my vision improved dramatically. A friend of mine also started taking it a little while back and he commented on his own vision improving as well. Just food for thought, I guess.
